Suggested Structure for CW1 - Project Plan and Report

1. Executive Summary (usually the last thing to write) provides an overview of the whole report - not
counted within 1500 word count. It should include, very briefly:
• the background and purpose of the report
• the main points covered
• conclusions and recommendations

2. The Introduction should tell the reader:

• the purpose of the report
• what the background is
• what the report will cover
• any limitations on the report

3. The main section covers the work done and what you have found.
• It is divided into topics which are arranged in a logical order with headings and sub-
headings.
• The section headings and sub-headings are named according to the points that you are
writing about (suggested below):

Project Scope
Project Objectives
Project Deliverables
Constraints
Stakeholder Management
Risk Management
Project Organisation
Resources
Scheduling
Project Quality
Monitoring and Control

4. The Conclusion pulls together the main points of the report in a brief summary
• It should link back to the purpose of the report stated in your introduction
• It should not introduce any new information.

5. References (listed correctly using CU Harvard format) - not counted within word count

6. Appendix (Gantt Chart)
