Focus Activity Question:

What are some stories your family shares about members of your family, people associated with
your family (i.e. friends, play moms/dads/sisters/brothers/cousins, etc.), or even places associated
with your family (i.e. towns or cities where your family originated, etc.)? When did you start
hearing these stories? Why does your family tell these stories (i.e. to inform, to educate, to
entertain, to warn. etc.)?

Ex: For some people, we’ve heard stories of our parents having to walk miles in the snow to get
to school without proper shoes as a means of telling us to be more grateful for what we have.
Sometimes this story gets exaggerated to claim that parent had to walk barefoot in the snow for
greater effect.
