ENG IV Writing Unit

Introduction: This document lays out the information and instructions you’ll need to complete
the Writing Unit.

Reading and Assignment Schedule:

Due: April 24th by 11:59p

● Plagiarism Certification (quiz grade for successful completion; partial credit for
submitting completion for each level (5) of the tutorial, with 85% being the top grade if
students successfully complete the tutorials but not the certification)
● Short Research Assignment
○ Students research trends for their chosen occupation using the Occupational
Outlook Handbook
○ Complete the specific form to demonstrate their knowledge of using this website
Due: May 8th by 11:59p
● The Writing Process PPT
○ Questions to Consider
● Source Evaluation
○ Students must conduct research for their exposition essay by finding one credible
source and evaluating it using the provided form
● Expository Essay
○ Prompt: TBD
○ MLA Formatting
○ Essay must use two sources: Occupational Outlook Handbook and one other
credible source
○ Minimal length requirements:
■ Standard: 1 ½- 2 pages, not including the works cited page
■ Honors: 2-3 pages, not including the works cited page
○ Draft due by May 11th (for teacher feedback)
○ Final draft due by May 15th, 11:59p
