Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Students will use Padlet to write contributions and challenges faced by the Abolitionist listed on the Padlet.
Students will be able to access this Padlet through their iPad, phones, tablets, and computers. The Padlet will
be projected onto the Smart Board, so students may see their peers replies on the post. Padlet enhances
students learning experience as they use technology to demonstrate/describe their own understanding and
are also able to see what their peers say and learn from that as well. The Padlet will be available via a link or
QR code.

Lesson idea implementation:

This activity will be given after the teacher discusses the contributions, challenges, and etc. faced by the
abolitionists. After the discussion, the teacher will put the students into groups of 4, they will then be
provided the link or QR code to the Padlet. In their groups they will then discuss and post about the
contributions and challenges faced by each abolitionist. After they are done making their posts, the teacher
will read and discuss everyone’s post as a class. I will get the students to put a thumbs up if they are familiar
with the contribution/challenges posted to make sure they are understanding (learning will be assessed
through this).

The final product will be used to show student learning and comprehension. I will extend the student learning
by asking “What are the differences between each abolitionist?”. I will conclude the lesson by thanking each
group on posting their knowledge about each abolitionist and their contributions/challenges. I will provide
feedback to the students by commenting on their Padlet posts.

Reflective Practice:
I think this lesson would impact student learning because they are doing it through the use of technology and
are able to gain more knowledge about each abolitionist by reading their peers post. This lesson kept
students engaged while interacting through technology. To further extend this project, you can get each
group to comment on their peers’ posts.
