Day 1 (28 November 2019)

Activities :

1. Orientation and woodcarving at Chilbo Eco-Centre - We were given a brief orientation by Mr. La about our 9
days programme in Korea, and also learned to make wooden fish necklaces using woods and sandpapers.

2. Learn Samul-nori at YMCA Building - We learned a Korean traditional instruments led by Mr. Lee, a
professional instructor.

We boarded the plane at around 11.40 pm Malaysian time the night before, and landed 5 and an half hours
later at 6 am South Korean time. Once we landed at Incheon International Airport, the luggage claim took a little
while as some of the students’ and staffs’ bags were broken from the flight. Then, we met our interpreter,
Katherine and the rest of the YMCA staffs for the first time, A few minutes were spent on taking group pictures
before we walked to our bus. Our teacher informed us that the temperature then was -1°C, even though the sun
was shining brightly.
After we had breakfast at Jangteo Seollung-tang, we moved to Chilbo Eco-Centre where Mr. La gave us a simple
orientation of our programme. Then, we learned to carve our own little wooden fishes using sandpapers. We
also had a free time after and took a lot of pictures around the building.
At noon, we had bulgogi for lunch at Saekdong-myeonok. Then, we went to the YMCA building in Suwon to
learn Samul-nori, which is a Korean traditional music. Samulnori translates to “four things” (samul) and “to play”
(nori) that consists of four different musical instruments. Buk (barrel drum), janggu (hourglass-shaped drum), jing
(gong), and kkwaenggwari (small gong). We learned the basics and they even performed a small demonstration
of how a real Samul-nori performance would look and sound like. It sounded beautiful compared to what we did.
We spent a few hours there, and moved to our hotel, Vella Suite Hotel to sort our bags into each of our rooms.
We were told to get ready for dinner, which we have to walk ourselves to get there. The roads were really cold
even with layers of clothes. We arrived at Homeplus, the nearest mall to our hotel. They took us to the food
court inside and we had bibimbap for dinner. Katherine told us we had some free time around the mall. Most of
the students went to the mart that is located at the ground floor to buy some midnight snacks. Some even used
the photobooth to take memorable photos.
At around 8 pm, all of us walked to our hotel, but on our way there, we visited a small shop, Artbox that sells
variety of cute items; dolls, notebooks, pens, and bags.
As we arrived at the hotel, we spent our first night tidying up our stuff, laughing with our friends and eating
snacks. We didn’t sleep until midnight.

Members Reflection :

Pek : Everyone gathered at the airport, KKIA on Wednesday night and we took a 5 hours flight to Korea. At 6
pm, we finally arrived at Incheon Airport, South Korea. After the baggage claiming and all, we were welcomed
by Mr. Ra and his few workmates. As this was my first time travelling to South Korea, the weather was so cold
that my hands were freezing.
We were brought to Suwon to have our breakfast and the programme starts. We learned some woodcraft
techniques with sand papers and oiling process at Eco Centre, After that, we had bulgogi for lunch and sat one
table with Mr. Ra. Then, we get to learn Samul-nori which is a Korean traditional music instrument which was
lead by professional instructor. As it was my first time experiencing it, all I can say was it was tiring but at the
same time we had lots of fun there. I really enjoyed the learning process with the teachers and my other
friends.
Soon after, we were sent back to our hotel, Vella Suite Hotel and soon awhile we went out for our dinner
and had a walk in the Homeplus Mall. We even got to do window-shopping in a fancy shop which was located
a stone throw away from our hotel. Lastly, we walked back to our hotel and that was the end of our day one
programme. Goodnight night to you all !!!

Aurora : The flight wasn’t luxurious as there was no TV screen to pass the time. It wasn’t comfortable either
so I only slept for 3 hours. When we first meet our interpreter and the other YMCA staffs, they were really kind
and welcomed us warmly. They also took pictures of the broken luggage to report them to the airline. The
moment we stepped out of the airport, cold breeze went up to our spines. Even some of the teachers were
baffled. We also couldn’t get enough of the vapor that came out from our mouth, made us looked like
dragons. That was the first winter air I had ever felt. It might not be that cold for locals, but it was enough to
make my brain all fuzzy.
Then we moved to Jangteo Seollungtang for breakfast. Maybe it was because my stomach felt weird after
the 5-hours flight, or simply because I didn’t like the food, I didn’t eat much. At Chilbo Eco-Centre, we were
taught to smooth our own wooden fishes using sandpapers. It was really hard and took a lot of time to
complete, but mine came out really cute though it looked like an anchovy. My fish necklace is hanged on my
bag since.
At noon, we ate bulgogi for lunch. The dish was really good and mouth-watering. Then, we went to learn
Samul-nori. I played the janggu. It was really hard and was hurting my finger at first, but after awhile, it was
really fun to walk around the hall while playing it. The instructors also showed us how they played it and it
sounded way more beautiful compared to what we did. Samul-nori was really great and taught us to be
cheerful and have fun with music.
At Homeplus, we were given free time after dinner. Some of us were planning on finding the photobooth
after buying our snacks so we went upstairs multiple times but somehow, we ended up at the parking lot, with
no idea how to go back downstairs. Fortunately, we found both the escalator and the photobooth which was
literally just below us. It was still one of the funniest moments. Once we arrived the hotel and showered, we
ate our snacks together in a room and talked until midnight. It was the best way to end our first night in Korea.

Marrylyine : After about 5 hours and a half, we finally arrived at Incheon International Airport. I was very
excited at the moment we got out of the plane because it was very cold. We were welcomed kindly by the
YMCA staffs.
Our first destination was Chilbo Eco-Centre. We learned a lot of things there and made the wooden fish
necklaces. I was so excited I rubbed the wooden fish necklace until I broke its tail. It was so funny and made
me sad at the same time but thanks to the teacher, he fixed my fish’s tail.
Then, we went to learn Samul-nori, the Korean traditional music. There were four instruments that we
learned to play with four different rhythms all together. It was so hard at first but we practiced so hard until
we got it. We joyfully enjoyed playing and dancing with the teachers.
After learned the Samul-nori, we finally moved to the hotel to sort our things out and we went to the nearby
mall to have dinner. Then, we had free time after dinner. It was so funny that we got lost until we went to the
parking lot trying to find the photobooth and we didn’t even know how to go down because we couldn’t find
where the escalator was.

Sirorytha : It was a memorable day as all the sweet memories of being in Korea began to be written in my life
story. We landed safely at Incheon International Airport by 6 am and met the staffs of YMCA. My soul was
filled with excitement when found out that the temperature outside was very cold. Then, we moved to Suwon
in about an hour and had the first breakfast there as we hadn’t eat anything for hours since we were in the
plane.
In Suwon, the place we went after having breakfast was Chilbo Eco-Centre. We were given a short briefing
about our tour schedule and learned to make a necklace using a fish shaped wood. We were asked to rub the
wooden fish so it will be smoother and beautiful, that was fun even though I was quite sleepy as I didn’t get
enough sleep the night before.
Next, we went to have lunch, and then went to YMCA building to learn the Korean traditional music which
was called Samul-nori. I was happy to learn how to play the music instrument and quite embarrassed when I
was being the leader of the team to play our instruments as I had never been a leader before.
We eventually moved to Vella Suite Hotel and had our rooms. My roommate was Aurora. I was quite happy
to be in the same room with her because she is a brave and calm girl while I’m a coward. After having shower,
we walked through the cold weather to the nearby mall to have dinner and spent free time there. The food
provided for us was good and I bought some more food at the shop so I can eat them in my room because I
always get hungry at night. I even bought some dog food from the pet shop there as a Christmas gifts for my
dogs.

Farysha : The moment we landed at Incheon International Airport, I was very excited to see Korea with my
very own eyes! When we got out of the plane, I thought it was going to be cold but it wasn’t, because there
were heaters everywhere inside the airport. Then, we were greeted by representatives from YMCA who will
be guiding us throughout the trip. We went outside the airport, that was where the cold got me. I didn’t
expect the weather to really, really cold. When we talked or breathe, there was vapor coming out from our
mouth! We were so fascinated! We got into the bus and moved to Suwon. We went to eat breakfast first
before we started our activities.
Then, we went to Chilbo Eco-Centre. When I got out of the bus, the view there was so pretty and
breathtaking. We were all so excited. We made fish necklaces using only sand papers. It was really fun and
exhausting at the same time. After that, we took a lot of pictures there before we left.
Then, we had lunch at Saekdong-myeonok. The food was great! After we ate, we went to learn Samul-nori. It
is a Korean traditional music. It was easy to learn, but my hands were really tired playing it for hours. After an
exhausting day, we went to our hotel. My roommate was Sakinah, one of my close friend in ISCEP team! I was
so happy I got her as roommate. We then got some rest and went to eat dinner. After we ate, we got some
free time to shop at the shopping mall. We then went back to the hotel to rest.

Hafiz : As soon as we arrived at the Incheon International Airport, we received a warm welcome by the
secretary of the YMCA which is Mr Ra accompanied by 3 of his assistance, Catherine, Jisoo and also Mi Ra.
Although there were some problems at the airport regarding our luggage, the Koreans really showed their
good manners by generously helping us with it. After everything was settled, we were getting ready to go to
our next destination. As this was my first time travelling to a 4 seasons country, I was anticipated to feel the
weather temperature there. The air was very chilly and cold as it was only -1 Celcius when were there.
After having a power nap inside the bus, we arrived at a restaurant which served us Ox Bone Soup or called
“Seolleongtang” in Hangul that is served with some “Banchan”, a Korean side dish such as kimchi which is
general for a Korean restaurant alongside some rice. Regarding of the culture, the food was still enjoyable as
the hot soup was a perfect partner of the cold weather. Before we moved, my friend and I grab a cup of coffee
to cope with the cold air.
After enjoying our meals, we headed to the Chilbo Eco Centre where we learned on how to make a wood
necklace in the shape of a fish, it was surprisingly very relaxing and therapeutic when you got immersed with
sanding the wood. The owner told us that the Koreans really enjoy doing this, that they could do it for hours.
He was really kind as he showed us his workshop after we finished sanding , where he spend most of his time,
doing all the wood work. He can do a lot of miniatures with amazing details which really surprised me with his
woodworking skills. Seeing that made me realize that we need to have commitment and dedication to reach
that level of skills not only in woodworking but also others. Before we move to another restaurant to have a
lunch, we were given a chance to capture some photos at the park, near the Chilbo Eco Centre which was very
nice and peaceful in my opinion. It made me wish that we could have that kind of park in our country with that
kind of weather, so I could walk around it to release some stress from my hectic life while enjoying the nature
and the beautiful view.
For our lunch,we were having the bulgogi which is grilled meat and vegetable , which was very delicious
served with a bowl of rice and also some side dishes. As Mr Ra was seating with us, I take the chance to have a
conversation with him. We ended up talking about the Korean Drama “Hotel Del Luna” starring IU which is our
favourite Korean Actress. The extra meat that were given by Teacher Rayner were also finished by us as my
friends and I were hungry and ended up eating a lot of food.
Then,we moved to the YMCA Suwon Building where we learned the Korean Traditional Music called
“Samulnori’ which consists of 4 instrument. The instruments are “Buk”, ”Janggu”, ”Jing” and “Kkwaenggari”.
The rhythms was quite easy to follow on so it didn’t take a long of time for us to get used to it. Our
“Samulnori” teacher which was Mr Lee was very good at teaching us although there was a language barrier
between us and him. As I am really into music, it was really exciting for me to learn a new instrument. I was
really into hitting the drum without even realizing that there was a blister on my hand because of the drum
stick. But all and all it was still a fun and great experience to learn about another country`s culture.
To wrap up our day, we were sent to our hotel which was “Vella Suite Hotel” located in Suwon to put our
belongings and also it was where we would spend our night everyday. My roommate was Pek and Carl and our
first impression of the room was that although it was quite packed, it was really comfortable for the three of
us. Before going to bed, we walked to the HomePlus Mall to have our dinner there and on our way back we
had the chance to shop at a fancy shop near our hotel. As the night fell, the temperature started to decrease,
it was really cold to the point where my hand were numb and I couldn’t feel it. Before calling it a day, my
roommates and I were getting ready with our traditional costumes for the next day,

Kal : On Wednesday night 27/11/19 we gathered at KKIA and waited for our flight to Korea. We arrived at
Korea around 6.30am and were welcomed by Mr Ra, Mrs Mira, Mrs Jisu and the tour guide, Miss Catherine.
They brought us to Suwon and we had breakfast before continuing our trip.
After breakfast, we went to eco centre and learned how to do wood crafting. Then, we headed to the
nearest restaurant and we had bulgogi for lunch. It is my first time eating it and it was very tasty.
After lunch, we learned how to play the traditional music instrument which is the Salmunori. The man who
taught us how to play was very nice and energetic. It was fun learning how to play the instrument but also
tiring because we kept on playing for about 2 hours.
After that, we went back to our hotel which is the Vella Suite Hotel to clean ourselves and get some rest
after a long, tiring, fun day. Then we had kibimbap for dinner in the mall and had a walk to a place where the
tour guide called it the “Fancy Shop”. We spent around 30minutes there and finally get back to our hotel and I
was in the same room with Pek and Hafiz who are my schoolmate and close friends.
Day 2 (29 November 2019)

Activities :

1. A performance at Songlim Elementary School - danced with the children, and played games with them.
2. Experienced Korean traditional culture at YMCA centre - taught us how to make a Korean traditional
bracelet, played traditional games, tried on Korean traditional clothes, Hanbok, and learned to make a
traditional dish, tteok.

At 9.00 sharp, we moved to Songlim Elementary School, the destination of our first performance in Korea. Our
audience were a bunch of cute elementary school children. Then, they took us to the backstage and showed
us where we could change our costumes. There were two rooms, each for the boys and girls, though after
changing, we would be in the same room where it was warmer. The kind school staffs served us hot tea while
we waited at the backstage. The performance went smoothly, except for the Chinese dance props that broke
mid-performance. Regardless, the children cheered for us happily.
After we finished our performance, we played games with the children and a few older students. It was a
really tiring but fun games, and all of us seemed to be enjoying them.
Then, we went to YMCA centre to learn deeper about the Korean traditional culture. They taught us how to
make a traditional bracelet, consists of 5 different coloured yarns, black, white, blue, yellow, and red. The
bracelet were mainly made for children in Korea. We also played a lot of games with them until the sun went
down. Then, they let us tried on Hanbok, a Korean traditional clothes. The colours on them were an eyesight.
All of them were colourful and very alluring. We took a lot of photos while wearing them, before taking them
off for our next activity, which was tteok-making class. Tteok is a Korean traditional dish that translates to "rice
cakes" in English. The dish was really delicious along with the rice drink.
When night fell, we moved to a restaurant to eat our dinner. After that, we had a free time around
Homeplus mall, before walking to our hotel at 8.30 pm.

Members Reflection :

Pek : At 7 am sharp, we woke up and got ourselves ready with makeup as today is our first time performing in
Korea. After we had our breakfast, we got into the bus and all of us went to Songlim Elementary School. As
soon as we arrived there, we were warmly welcomed by their teachers and students. We got to perform there
as our first performance and it was a fun yet interesting experience. I was truly happy to see all the kids were
happy to watch us performing and we had lots of fun with them. We even played a few Korean games with
them and it was a great experience for me to see them played with us happily.
Then, after the performance, we went to the YMCA centre and there, we learned on hot to make Korean
traditional bracelet which was usually made for children in Korea. Soon after, we played traditional games
again and even tried the Korean traditional costume which is the Hanbok. This is my first time wearing Hanbok
and it looked so cool even though it was quite big for me. We even learned to make Korean snack, tteok and it
was a a good experience for us.
We had our dinner and ate porridge with chicken, it tasted tasteless at first but after awhile, it was quite
delicious. After the dinner, we went shopping as it was Black Friday sales and walked back to our hotel. It was
the end of our programme for second day. Nights !!!

Aurora : At around 9.40 am, we took the bus to Songlim Elementary School. The kids were really adorable
with their puffy winter coats, lining up to go to the hall where we were going to perform. But luck wasn't on
my side that day. My black boots broke just after I stepped off the bus. Fortunately, one of my friend brought
an extra pair and let me borrow them.
The backstage was really cold even with the heater. The poor boys next room didn't even have a heater
until a teacher borrowed one from our room. Our first performance went really well. We didn't have any
problem with costume-changing, and the little kids' cheers reminded me of how happy it was to be on stage
again. We also brought the kids to dance together and played some fun games with them. The best thing was
that our group won. Though running around while wearing my costume and boots really strained my feet.
Then we went to YMCA centre to experience Korean traditions. They taught us how to make tradition
Korean bracelet. It seemed complicated at first, but once I got used to it, it got easier. The bracelet came out
really pretty. The games we played were really fun and made us really competitive. It also gave us a chance to
warm up in the winter day. Then, we tried Korean traditional clothings, the Hanbok. I wore a really beautiful
dark blue dress that suits me nicely. After that, we made a Korean dish, called tteok, along with other younger
Korean students. He was really friendly and chatted with us while we made the food. The whole experience
was wonderful. Even one of the Korean student made me blush for calling me pretty.
For dinner, we ate this really tasty and tender chicken. My friends and I chatted and laughed a lot during
dinner. What was funnier was that Farysha was dared to drink a bowl of soup she hated, for 4 bottles of
banana milk. She did it. We have another free time at Homeplus, so I bought a hoodie with my favourite
colour, yellow!

Marrylyine : Today was our second day in Korea and also our first day performing at one of the schools
located not far from our hotel lodge, Songlim Elemantery School. All of us felt so nervous because this was the
first time we performed and introduced the tradition of our country in a foreign country. The trip to the
scooter took about 10 minutes. As soon as we arrived , the students were thrilled and excited to see our
arrival. They just couldn't wait to watch our performance. After the performance, we spent time playing some
games and singing with the 6th grade students.
Then, we went to the YMCA building to learn and experience the Korean traditional culture such as games,
making dessert and trying the Hanbok. We were told that 5 different colours were commonly used in Korea.
For example, the Korean flag and one of the Korean famous food bibimbap have 5 different colours. We also
played traditional games using wooden sticks. We played this game very carefully and it was so fun to disturb
the other members when they were focusing to pull the sticks. The second game we played was similar with
the ' pukul berapa harimau datang '. We were sweating while playing this game and tried to run away from the
catcher. After we enjoyed playing all the games , we finally put on the beautiful Hanbok. Hanbok is the Korean
traditional clothing. They were so funny because i look like a pregnant mother when i put on the Hanbok.
Then, we started to learn how make the dessert. It was a piece of cake doing it. Suddenly , we were unsure
with the drinks that were served in front of us and started asking the Korean students if they were alcoholic,
since they looked like ' tapai ', one of the Sabah traditional alcoholic drink. He told us it was the traditional
sweet Korean drink called Sikhye. It is often served as a dessert in Korean restaurant. After we knew that, our
group became one of the noisiest groups because we were so excited chatting with the Korean students about
the sikhye and he had so much fun until he grab another bottle out for us to drink. We then had dinner and
went back to hotel.

Sirorytha : In the second day , we were told to get up early and get ready with makeup and costumes for our
first performances that will be held at Songlim Elementary School. We were asked to be at the lobby by 9 am
and had to take breakfast between 7 to 9 o'clock. The most shocking thing that happened in the beginning of
my day was , waking up at 8 am. My roommate and I didn’t hear the sound of the alarm clock we set the night
before and caused us to get up quite late. It made me panic and we have to get ready in a rush. It was a relief
that we did get ready before 9 and still had plenty of time to have breakfast.
We then moved to the school by bus. The weather, as usual was very cold. The school was not too far from
our hotel, we arrived there in just a few minutes and I saw many children were walking into the school hall
where we would perform. We were brought to a classroom where some foods and drinks were already
provided for us. Some candy and snacks, also coffee and tea. I left my bags in the classroom , put in my
costume and moved to the hall as the performances will be start in minutes. The children looked very excited
when our first performance started. They clapped and smile cheerfully while watching us dance. After our
performances, we played some Korean traditional games with the children and it was lead by Mr Lee. The
games were very fun and did made me laugh . We even sang the Korean traditional song , "arirang" with the
children as we had learned the song at YMCA'S building in the first day, after leaning Samul-nori.
When all the games were done, we then moved from the school to have a lunch, and then went to the
YMCA building once again to experience the Korean traditional culture. We firstly learned to make a bracelet
using 5 colourful threads, played Korean traditional games and lastly wore the Korean traditional costumes
called "Hanbok" . It was very beautiful as I won't take it out from my body, I was thankful to our teachers and
the organizers, for giving an opportunity to me and all my friends to wear such a beautiful costumes. After we
took some pictures while wearing the costume , we moved to a restaurant and had our dinner.

Farysha : Me and Sakinah woke up at 6 to do my makeup to perform at Songlim Elementary School. After I
did my make up, my roommate and I went to eat breakfast at the second floor. The food was really delicious.
Then, we went back to our room to change our clothes and got ready to go.
It was really cold once we got out of the hotel. We gathered around at the lobby. We then got into the bus
and went to Songlim Elementary School. When we arrived, I was really excited to look around the school. Then
the teachers gave us 20 minutes to change to perform on the stage. We had to take off our shoes to perform.
The floor was really cold. My feet was numb. We were quite nervous to perform for the first time. When the
performance was over, we were satisfied with our performance, although my group and I made a few
mistakes but we managed to cover it up. It was really fun to see the kids and the teachers enjoyed our
performance. We then head to the classroom where we put our stuffs. They gave us some candies and Korean
food. I took a lot of photos there, with the kids and the teachers. They were really kind. My friends and I then
played at the playground. We had a lot of fun.
We then head back to the bus and went to eat lunch. I was really hungry. After we ate, we went to learn
Korean games and made Korean handmade bracelets. The games were really fun and the bracelets I did were
pretty. I did 4 bracelets because it was very easy. We then wore the Korean traditional clothes called Hanbok.
Their clothes were so beautiful and colourful. We took a lot of pictures of us wearing the Korean traditional
clothes. I made friends with students that were teaching us how to make the Korean bracelet. They were so
friendly. We even followed each other on Instagram. After we changed our clothes back, we learned on how
to make a Korean traditional food. It was really delicious and chewy. I even tried rice drink. It was really good
and refreshing. We cleaned up everything and went back to go and eat dinner. After we ate dinner we went
back to the hotel and had our free time.

Hafeez : It was our second day in Korea, after having a long sleep we woke up at 7 in the morning and we
were told to be at the lobby at 9 o’clock sharp. So me and my roommates were taking turn to have a morning
shower. Today was the first day of us performing in Korea, after showering we help each other to make up so
we look presentable when were performing. Before we moved to the Songlim Elementary School, we grab a
breakfast in the hotel to make sure that we have enough energy to get through the day. Although they were
some food that I cannot eat because it contains pork but there were still something I could eat which was the
fish cutlet that is superbly good.
After all of us gathered at the lobby at 9 o’clock sharp, we put our performing stuff in the bus and got going
to the Songlim Elementary School which was not that far from our hotel. When we arrived ther, we received a
warm welcome by the Principal of the school and even prepared us some Korean snacks. I saw the kids were
getting into the school hall and they really showed a really good discipline which surprised me since they are
still at a very young age.
When we were getting ready for our performance, it was really cold at the backstage since there was no
heater and we didn’t wear any long johns but thanks to the teamwork from everyone, we managed to
overcome it. The performance was going smoothly and after that we had the chance to play a Korean games
with the students there. It was really a once in a lifetime experience to get to play the games with the students
itself happily. We really enjoyed playing the game while getting to know with the students there. Before going
to the next event, we had the chance to say goodbye to all of them one by one and they were very polite and
also cute.
After that, we moved to the YMCA Suwon Building which we went yesterday but instead of learning Korean
Traditional Music, we learned on how to make bracelets, play some Korean games and also making Korean
Traditional Food. The bracelets that we were making was usually made for newborn baby in Korea. The colour
of the bracelets have a deeper meaning for the newborn baby such as prosperity, happiness and others. It was
confusing at first but thanks to Insung, a volunteer for YMCA for helping me. I couldn’t resist that I was very
proud when the Instructor told me that the bracelet that I made was excellent. Next, we played a Korean
games where we really enjoy it and having the time of our life playing the games together which really help ed
our bonding with each other. Then, we got the chance to try on the Korean Traditional Costume which is
HanBok, wearing it somehow made me feel stylish even though it’s a traditional costume. We even got the
chance to capture some memories with the HanBok with my friends. Lastly, we form a small group to make a
Korean Traditional Food which is Tteok that is made from rice cake. The food that we were making is a rice
cake or Tteok with a nut filling inside it, it really reminds me of a food we have back in our country which is
onde-onde but in the shape of a dumpling. The Korean says that the Tteok that we were making will resemble
our son/daughter in the future. They also gave us a try of the Sikhye which is a drink made up from rice, it was
surprisingly good not like what I expect it to be.
Moving on, we were having our dinner at a restaurant which serves Noo-roong-jee which is a rice
congee/porridge with a whole chicken. This time I got the chance to sit with our instructor Catherine and also
Mr.Ra. While having our meal, I had a conversation with Catherine talking about our favourite Korean Artist
and others. As I can speak a little bit of Korean so I ask her to teach me more of it. Regarding the food, it was
just plain porridge but yet still quite enjoyable alongside the chicken that it served. I was really glad that even
though I didn’t sit alongside my friends, I still enjoy having a meal and having conversation with both Mr.Ra
and Catherine to improve my social skills.
As we were having a free time after the meals, we were given the chance to shop at a shopping mall on
our way back to the hotel. The mall was quite big and were selling a variety of stuff from clothing, shoes, food
and many more. As it was winter season when we were there, there were a lot of discounts offered for the
items that they were selling. I managed to grab myself a sweater with a reasonable price for a well-known
brand. Lucky for me as I know a little bit of Korean, I could understand what the lady was saying to me. I was
pretty shocked when I compare the price of the sweater because it was cheaper than the one selling in our
country. After a few hours of shopping, we gathered at the main entrance of the mall and went to the hotel
for some rest.

Kal : On the second day, we had breakfast before starting our trip. The first thing we did was visiting the
Songlim Elementary School. We were welcomed by a lot of cute Korean kids. Despite the cold weather we still
managed to give our best of performance to them and the kids enjoyed it so much when we brought them to
dance along with us and even requested to dance with us one more time. After performing, we sang the
Korean traditional song which is the Ganggangsullae and Arirang with some of the students there. Then, we
had lunch of Korean-style buffet.
After that, we experienced some of the Korean traditional culture such as their traditional games and
traditional costume which is the Hanbok. It was really fun and the Hanbok were really pretty. We also learned
on how to make the traditional Korean food which is the Tteok and it was like a rice cake. Finally we head back
to hotel and called it a day.
Day 3 (30 November 2019)

Activities :

1. A visit to Korean Folk Village for a whole day - We visited the famous Korean Folk Village that was located in
Yongin.

After we had our breakfast at the hotel, we moved to Korean Folk Village. It is located in Yongin, and is a very
popular attraction among tourists and locals. Once arrived, Miss Katherine gave us a short briefing about the
village, and told us when and where we should reassemble for lunch.
Then, they let us had free time to explore the village. We split in groups and leisurely walked around,
admiring the breathtaking view of winter in Korea. The leaves were warm-coloured, contrast to the cold air.
There were small traditional houses and huts, wooden crafts shop, and an old uncle that was selling candy. We
got to see the inside of the houses, and experienced how it feels like to live as a Korean a long time ago.
There was also an amusement park located in the village. The park was rather modern-styled, with a lot of
pastel houses and coffee shops. Some of the attractions were the Drop and Twist ride, the viking ride,
sightseeing train ride, and haunted house. We tried all of them, though some of us have fear of height. The
attractions were fun and worth it. We also took the train and had a view around the whole village. Then, we
went to the haunted house. It had three different houses to go, each with different Korean mythical creatures
and ghosts. The third house had a small train that we had to ride while screaming at the jumpscares. Finally,
when it was all over, we walked to the restaurant near the entrance gate to have our lunch.
The YMCA staffs showed us the menu and told us to pick our food. There was a variety of food like octopus
bibimbap, and ox soup. They showed us where to sit and went to order our food.
We then continued to explore the whole village, and took a lot of pictures. The river scenery, the houses,
and the trees were absolutely beautiful. We reached to the end of the village when we saw the-thing-i-forgot-
the-name-was(edit this out later), where a lot of visitors' quotes on pieces of paper were hanged. There was
also a tall set of wooden swings where the visitors can play. This part of the village was less crowded, and filled
with calming sounds of the flowing river.
In the evening, all of us met near the entrance gate along with the YMCA staffs and got ready to leave the
village. We had our dinner at the hotel. They served us fried chicken, kimbap, and tteokboki. Before we left
and went to our rooms, we cleaned the whole place. Then, we went to our friends' room to eat the leftovers,
and laughed and sang together for the whole night.

Members Reflection :

Pek : We had our breakfast at the hotel like usual and gathered at the lobby around 9.30 am. We got into the
bus and the journey took us around 40 minutes to go to Yongin Korea Old Folk Village. As soon as we got in, I
was amazed by the surroundings because it has its own unique traditional style of surrounding. We had lots of
fun at the Modern Old Folk Village Amusement Park especially the haunted ghost house where everyone
enjoyed screaming and running around.
After that, we had our lunch at a fast-food restaurant in the Folk Village and the food was really delicious.
Soon after, we continued our free time at the Traditional Old Folk Village and taking pictures with beautiful
scenery.
After that, we went back to our hotel and had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. They provided us fried
chicken and kimbap for dinner and it was a fun yet overload kind of night as I ate so much than the amount I
usually take. This shown that the kimbap and fried chicken were really mouth-watering. At 9 pm, we had
potluck between roommates and it was an interesting night where we all got a chance to spend time together.
After the potluck, we went back to our room to sleep and get ready for the next day.

Sirorytha : We did spent our third day in Korea very well. In the morning , we got up not too early as we
didn't have to wear much makeup because there was no performance on that day. The places that we were
going to visit were written in our camp schedule, it was Korean Folk Village. After we had breakfast , all of us ,
students , teachers and the YMCA’s staffs gathered at the lobby of the hotel at 9 o’clock and then walked into
the bus.
Next, we moved to Korean Folk Village. The view and scenery there was very beautiful, there were
traditional Korean houses, some food stalls and also souvenirs shop. I walked around the folk village with
Darren, Amanda ,Dercy and Sakinah . We took a lot of pictures there as the scenery was really nice. When
Amanda was taking pictures I tried to shake the stem of a thin tree so many of the tree leaves fell off and it
was very beautiful. The three of us , Amanda ,Darren and I then made a slow motion video with the falling
leaves. To make my video , Amanda was the one who recorded me and Darren was shaking the tree. It was
quite funny but the videos worth our effort. This was one of the memories that I will always remember. After
that, we had our lunch at the restaurant in the Folk Village. The food was very good as we ordered it
ourselves.
After lunch, we once again explored the Folk Village, Amanda, Darren and I queued up the line to go to the
ghost house. It was quite a bad decision for us to go in there as three of us are cowards. When it was our turn
to go in , we stick together in front of the door, we tried to go in but we were too big for the door, we then
went in the ghost house, we screamed a lot but we hadn't even saw any ghost and reached the room where
the ghost were in. We couldn’t went on and decided to go out from the main door that we entered firstly. But
lastly we still wanted to go in the ghost house because our friends told us that it wasn’t that scary, so we
queued up once again and went in. We wasted much time there but it was still fun.
When it was 4 pm, we gathered in front of the restaurant where we had our lunch and went back into the
bus. We moved to another restaurant and had dinner. At night, we spent our free time at the Homeplus mall
and then went back to our hotel. The day was great.

Marrylyine : We had been in Korea for three days and the weather was getting colder. We were also
reminded many times to stay healthy and stay warm. Today's schedule of activities was to visit the Korean Folk
Village. All of us thought it would be so boring there because we would stay at the village for the whole day. It
took around 40 minutes to reach there and all of us usually took a nap in the bus.
As soon as we arrived, we were speechless when we saw the place for the first time and couldn’t wait to
explore the place. At the main door, we were given a map to avoid getting lost. Then we got our free time to
look around and explore the place. The same Korean students from yesterday joined our group to walk
around. The first place we went was the Traditional Korean Village. There were lot of trees that made the
environment felt so calm. I felt very happy and at the same time, I also felt very excited because I got a chance
to see the village with my own bare eyes and be able to experience life there. Back in my ordinary life, I only
watched these village in television or social media. Then we went across the bridge and it actually has a
playground there. I can see my friends facial expression that they couldn’t wait to play the games. There was a
few scary games in there. Our first game was very scary because we went in the ghost house. We were so
scared and ask the Korean student to lead the way. It was so funny when we screamed loudly although there
was no scary ghost at all. After that we went to try one of the dangerous game, the swinging viking ship. It was
so scary when it started to swing very high. I didn’t even know how this Korean student didn't even cared
about the air turbulence while I screamed until I almost lose my voice.
We then had our lunch at the nearby restaurant. After that we continued exploring the place but this time I
had a little headache that was probably because of the jet lag. So i decided just to walk around and enjoyed
the beautiful and relaxing view until the end of the park.
Then after all the fun playing games and experiencing the village, we finally went to dinner and went back to
the hotel. I was so happy when the Korean student suddenly gave me a cute souvenir and i decided to return
one’s favour when he said he would join us when we're going to Lotte World .

Farysha : I woke up late because we didn’t have performance that day. I woke up at 7:30 am and had
breakfast with Sakinah. Then we got ready and gathered at the lobby at 9 am. We waited for the bus to arrive
to come and pick us up. When the bus arrived, we quickly got into the bus because it was freezing cold. It took
awhile to get there.
When we arrived, me and my friends were really excited to explore the place. Claudia and I started at the
traditional houses. The traditional houses were so antique and giving out vintage vibes. Then we played the
traditional swing. It was really fun! Then we ate lunch there. Claudia, Sakinah, Hannah Fifye and I then went to
viking rides together. It was my first time riding it. I was really nervous because it looks so scary but exciting at
the same time. There was no line because we were really early. After the ride, it was really fun and scary at the
same time. Then we rode the bungee ride. It was not as scary as the viking ride. Then we rode viking again and
again. Then Siro, Amanda, Darren, Teacher Jonah and I went to the haunted house. It was not as scary as I
imagined. We then went back to the entrance and gathered there. At 6pm we went to eat dinner. After we ate
dinner we went back to hotel to get rest. It was really a fun day.

Aurora : Pretty sure Siro and I woke up late that day. Didn’t even remember if we showered or not. Let’s just
hope that we did. When we arrived at Korean Folk Village, the first thing I saw was the huge entrance gate. A
few of my friends and I walked together towards the Traditional Folk Village. The scenery didn’t differ from the
ones we saw in K-dramas. There was nothing to do but walk around and take pictures. We also visited a small
souvenirs shop but didn’t buy anything.
When most of them were busy taking pictures in the small garden, Sakinah, Alter and I walked ourselves to
the amusement park. The mood there was different from the quiet traditional village. There were screaming
and laughing from the visitors who were riding the attractions. Me, a small girl who has an extreme fear of
height, was really excited to ride the Drop and Twist. All of us, along with the other friends that we met there,
lined up and waited nervously for our turn. Then, we finally sat down on the ride before it slowly went higher
and higher. I felt really vulnerable being so high up there, with only a metal tube and a strap holding me in my
place. Beside me was Sean, who I thought would be brave, that was until the ride dropped and twisted, he
screamed louder that me. When the ride was finished, my legs were wobbling so much, but I couldn’t stop
laughing. Then, most of us went to the haunted house. The first two house were just a little scary because a lot
of us were inside at the same time. Then at the third house, Sasa, Larry, Sean and I went in together. The boys
screamed the loudest.
During lunch, I had spicy octopus bibimbap. It really was spicy, but was really, really tasty. Then we
continued to explore the whole village. I didn’t do much after lunch besides walking around and taking
pictures. It was kind of boring. I guess I prefer the amusement park. But I did get to ride the swinging viking. I
thought it wouldn’t be that scary but boy, am I wrong. The whole ride, I couldn’t open my eyes or stop
clenching into Alter’s coat.
At 4, we went back to the main entrance gate and went to the hotel. Our dinner was in the hotel’s
restaurant. They served us fried chicken, kimbap and tteokboki. The leftovers were brought to our rooms and
we ate it together at midnight. That night was really memorable as we sang and laughed together. I won’t ever
forget that moment.

Hafeez : It was our third day in Korea, we woke up a little bit late at 7.45 o’clock in the morning but luckily we
didn’t need to wear our makeup today as there was no performances for the day. After finish showering, my
roommate and I went to the second floor to have our breakfast of the day to fill ourselves up. At 9 o’clock
sharp, everyone gathered at the lobby to wait for our bus to arrive at the hotel.
Our destination for today was Yongin Korean Folk Village which took 40 minutes from our hotel where we
would spend our 9 hours at. When we walked pass the main gate, it really gave me a peaceful vibe with the
surroundings while Korean Traditional Music was played on the background. Before we go in, we were given a
ticket and also a map of the village each as it is a 245 acres of property. As soon as they gave us a free time,
my friends and I took some photos and rushed to the amusement park as we were thrilled to play the rides
there. For the first ride, we rode the “Viking” which really gave me a thrill sensation while riding it. Next, my
friends told me to join them for the drop tower, but I couldn’t because it was very scary and I’m scared of
height so I helped them to record the ride for their memories. We planned to have a break and to have a walk
to look around the amusement park but ended up playing the Haunted House. It was really scary as it had a lot
of jump scares in it but gratefully I did make it to the end.
At 4.30 a.m. we met at the place we gathered before to have some lunch. There were some choices that
were given, from cold noodle to Naengmyeon, Chicken and also Pork. I ended up choosing the chicken, The
chicken was really tasty, served with some rice and also kimchi. It was really enjoyable as I was hungry after
spending a lot of my energy playing at the rides there.
After the meal, we chose to have a walk at the Folk Village where we could see a lot of Korean Traditional
Houses back from the late Joseon Dynasty. I really enjoyed walking there as it was somehow therapeutic for
me to be able to see the beautiful view with only the Korean Traditional Music at the background. I stop at a
hut where a beautiful young lady was giving a show playing another Korean Traditional Instrument called
“Gayageum”. She played the Gayageum beautifully catching peoples attention who were walking nearby.
When I was on my way back to the meet up place, I came by a horse-riding place where a quite group of
people were lining up to ride it. As I was walking I realized just how big this place was because I was tired
walking here and there. The time was showing that it was 6 o’clock which meant our time has over. Thanks to
KDCA and ISCEP for the ticket, we can have a lot of fun at the Yongin Korean Village.
After arriving at our hotel, we were told to clean ourselves up and meet at the hotel`s restaurant at the
second floor to have our dinner. We were given a box of fried chicken and also a roll of Kimbap. The food was
really delicious as I ate a lot of it with my friends together while enjoying our night. It was one of my things-to-
eat in Korea as Korean Chicken was really known worldwide for its tastiness and also crispiness and it really
does reached my expectation of them. There were a lot of leftovers so my friends and I decided to keep all of
it for potluck event that night with all of the members. It really helped us bond close to each other as a family.
After the night fell, we went back to each of our rooms to have a rest.

Kal : On the third day of the trip, we woke up early in the morning as usual to have breakfast before
beginning our trip. After breakfast, we got inside the bus and drove in about 30minutes to reach our next
destination which is Yongin Folk Village.
It is a place of entertainment and also to experience traditional house and culture. It was really fun and a
great experience. There was this one ride we rode which was called ‘The Viking’ and it was really fun. It was
also funny because all of us and even teacher Rayner were screaming. Moreover, the Traditional Folk Village
was indeed really beautiful and huge. We spent a lot of our times wandering around but still didn’t manage to
see every places since it was huge and it was about time for lunch. We had delicious Korean food for lunch
there.
We spent our day wandering around the place looking at beautiful scenery and enjoying the entertainment
which was same like a funfair in Sabah but much better. After a long day of having fun, we went back to hotel
around 6pm and had dinner there. We were served with delicious foods such as Korean fried chicken, kimbap
and tteokbokki. It was really a good day and we all enjoyed it so much.
Day 4 (1 December 2019)

Activities :

1. A tour around Gyeongbokgung, the main royal palace during Joseon Dynasty

2. A visit to Insadong Street - We spent a few hours here to buy souvenirs to bring back to Sabah.

3. A quick stop at Myeongdong Street - We were given an hour to walk around Myeongdong and buy the
things we need.

4. Watched a Nanta performance - We stopped at Myeogdong NANTA Theatre to watch a Nanta performance.

After breakfast, we moved to Gyeongbokgung. Gyeongbokgung, also known as Gyeongbok Palace was the
main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. It is located in Jongno District, in Seoul. We had an amazing
opportunity to visit the palace that was standing since the 14th century. That day, it was slightly drizzling. Mr.
La gave each of us a see through umbrella. Luckily, the rain was light and didn't get any heavier. A tour guide
was teaching us about the palace while walking us around. However, after an hour, most of us split up and
went to explore freely. At noon, after we had explored the whole palace, we met at the front of the palace to
take group photos with the huge palace behind us.
Then, after lunch, we moved to Insadong, a famous street with varieties of shops. The street was very
beautiful, with yellow fallen leaves decorated the ground. Most of the shops are souvenirs stores, fashion
stores, cafes, and food shops. We bought most of our souvenirs here, simply because they cost lower and had
a lot of options.
Next, we moved to Myeongdong Street. The street was really crowded with both tourists and locals, as it is a
famous attractions here in Seoul. We used up most of our time in Insadong, that we only had 1 hour to spend
in Myeongdong. Some of the students bought sport shoes as they were really cheaper than they are in
Malaysia.
Then, we had our lunch not in that area. We ate spicy chicken with rice. Soon after, we were brought to
Myeongdong NANTA Theatre to watch a Nanta performance. Each of us were given a seat ticket, and watched
the entire performance, which lasted for at least an hour. The actors gave a very funny, and amazing
performance and it ended with a bang. Then, we went back to the hotel and ended the night.

Members Reflection :
Pek : 4th day started with a chill kind of day. We had our breakfast at the hotel, we took a 1 and half hour bus
ride to Seoul, Korea. First, we went to Seoul Gyeongbokgung Palace. This palace was built for the Joseon
Dynasty. The place was so crowded with tourists and even people wearing Hanbok to snap a few photos there
as a background. The palace was so interesting because it showed its royalty and the details of each building
was truly nice.
Soon after an hour and 10 minutes of tour, we went to the restaurant to have our lunch and continued the
programme. We went to Insadong to get ourselves souvenirs from Korea as there were so many choices there.
We spent almost two hours there and move to Myeongdong for shopping. At Myeongdong, the place was
surrounded with so many people as almost every shops were doing sales. I didn’t get to much time to shop
because there were so many shops at Myeongdong.
After done, with the shopping, we went to got our dinner at a restaurant that served spicy chicken with
kimchi, potatoes and a few side dishes, I loved it very much as it was simple yet mouth-watering.
Soon after, we went to a theatre to watch Nanta performance. At first, I thought it was going to be really
boring but things flipped around when I was so entertained by the performance The actor and actress were so
talented and well prepared when they can perform almost perfectly and it was a kind of comedy type of
performance. My friends and I enjoyed it so much and I would rate it 9/10 as the performance was so
unexpected and fun to watch
We finished at around 10 then we went back to our hotel after almost and hour or even more of the bus
ride back to Suwon. That was the end of our day and I had lots of fun today and hoping more activities to
come. Goodnightss.

Aurora : It was lightly raining. They said that if it rains, it’s going to snow soon. I loved the umbrella they gave
us. It was a see through umbrella. We walked around the palace while listening to the tour guide. I didn’t
listen much as it was so boring and her voice was drowned in the crowds. After a while, we went to our
separate ways. Basically, we got lost. We were trying to find the others but eventually gave up and continued
to explore the whole palace. There wasn’t anything special.
Next, we walked ourselves to get lunch. It was a long walk and it was still raining. I didn’t bother to use my
umbrella as it was tiring to walk while wearing it. The rain wasn’t even that heavy so I didn’t care. But luckily,
my kind friend walked beside me and shared his umbrella. We ate beef soup that afternoon and it was best
thing ever.
Then, we took the bus to Insadong, a famous street with a lot of shops. I bought a new bag, a lot of
souvenirs, and I even tried macaroon. It was really sweet and tasty, and expensive.. Then, we moved to
Myeongdong. I was trying to find a specific shop to buy my sister’s skincare product but with limited time and
a crowded street, I didn’t find it. I did get to buy fresh strawberries, though. Fifye and I were late to dinner
because the cashier at the shoes store was moving really slow. I felt kind of bad for the unnie that was waiting
for us. Luckily, we didn’t get scolded.
At dinner, I sat with the boys as there was no seat left elsewhere. But it was a good time to bond with them.
We ate spicy chicken with rice and kimchi. They said it was too spicy but I didn’t think so.
Before the Nanta performance started, I was really sleepy and was expecting for the performance to be
quite boring. However, as soon as it started, I was fully awake and genuinely enjoyed the whole performance.
The night ended and after spending time with the others at the hotel, we all went to sleep.

Marrylyine : It was an exciting day because we are going to visit the Gyeongbokgung palace in Seoul. Before
we got out of the bus, we were given umbrellas because it was a rainy day. The palace tour took about 1 hour
and a half. We learned a lot of things there such as the history about the palace and the Korean word ' yong '
that means dragon from our tour guide. We were so busy taking pictures until we got separated from the
groups. We had no idea where to go because we didn’t have the map to find the way. We just went to a few
places to take some pictures and went back to the main door to meet the other groups.
After that we walked to a restaurant that was located not far from the palace to had lunch. We were told
that we were going to visit Insadong, one of the famous place with souvenirs and went there after we finished
our lunch. There were many types of souvenir that were sold in shops at Insadong. Im very thankful that we
received such great and friendly service from the sellers.
Then we moved to Myeongdong, one of the famous place because of the street food. We're having
dilemma with all the delicious food at the food stall. We couldn’t wait to try them all. I tried several food such
as Myeongdong dumplings and the grill octopus. It really made me full until I didn't take my dinner. At 8 pm,
we were going to watch the Nanta Performance. I thought that the show would be boring at first because it
was about cooking but it was a really funny show and I enjoyed it so much. My laugh was very loud during the
show until my friend tried to stop me because she's afraid that I would disturb the other audiences. Well,
laughter is the best medicine.

Farysha : I woke up at 8am because I was tired and I couldn’t sleep. Then I got ready first before going to
breakfast with my roommate. Then we gathered at the lobby at 9am as usual. Our first stop was Seoul
Gyeongbok Gung. It didn’t take too long to get there. When we arrived, it was raining and we had to use
umbrellas. It was really cold! Then we followed the tour guide there and she spoke really good English. She
brought us to every place there and explained the history of it. It was really interesting. Then me, my friends
and some of the teachers got lost because we were too busy taking pictures. We tried searching for them,
even asked the guard there but we still couldn’t find them. So we explored the place ourselves. I took a lot of
pictures and videos there. Then we found our way back and found them. Then, all of us took picture there.
After that we got into the bus and went to another destination. We went to eat lunch. It was really
delicious! Our next stop was Insadong Sulbing. This is the place that sells all souvenirs and they were very
cheap too. We were given one and a half hour to shop. Me and my friends were so excited. I bought a lot of
stuff and most of them are souvenirs for my family and friends. I even bought a Kpop album there! Albums
there were way much cheaper than albums in Malaysia. I only bought one album and I regretted that I didn’t
buy more :(
Then, we went to Myeongdong to eat dinner. But before we eat dinner, we were given time to shop and
walk around Myeongdong. Me, Claudia and Marsha went food hunting there. There are a lot of streets food
like corndogs, churros and more. I ate mozzarella corndog and it was really delicious and really cheesy. Then
we walk around Myeongdong.
We all then gathered back together to go and eat dinner at restaurant there. Me and Claudia were already
full because we ate a lot there. So we didn’t really eat much at the restaurant. But the food there was really
tasty. Too bad I can’t even swallow anything anymore that time because I was really full.
Then at 8pm we went to watch ‘Nanta’ performances. I was not really excited that time because I was
tired. Then we went inside to watch the performance. The performance was about drumming. When I was
watching the performance, it was really funny and entertaining! I loved their performance. We then head back
to our hotel after a long and tiring day. It was really a fun and tiring day.

Sirorytha : First December 2019 was our fourth day in Korea. In the morning, as usual we had our breakfast
and gathered at the lobby by 9 am. The first place we visited was Seoul Gyeongbokgung. It was a rainy day,
before we went off the bus, the interpreter who we called "unnie" and Mr. La gave us an umbrella per person
so we won't get wet. I felt sad because the day was rainy, not snowy as I expected.
We then entered the palace surrounded with many other tourist, there were also a guide that told us the
history about the buildings and hill behind the palace. But after a while, some of us failed to track where the
others went as we were too busy taking pictures on our own. We waited for them near the main entrance and
they did came few minutes later. We took group photos there, we didn't use our umbrellas while taking
picture so that the pictures will be better.
After that, we walked through the rain to a restaurant, we had our lunch there. I loved the food that they
served there, moreover, it was hot and we ate it during a cold and rainy day.
Next, we went to our bus and moved to Insa-dong. After spent an hour for shopping in Insa-dong, we
moved to Myeongdong and went shopping once again. I thought the time was too short to buy many things, I
only bought a shirt for my dad there. It was quite expensive but that was alright. I did walked there with
Darren all the time and even followed him to skin care shops. He bought many kind of face masks, face foam
and many more for himself and also his relatives.
After we went shopping, it was already time for us to have dinner, we went to a restaurant in
Myeongdong. While waiting for the food, my friends made a Tiktok video and suddenly we saw Mr La and
Miss Kathrine peeking on them from behind the mirror in the video. They looked very cute and funny.
We enjoyed our dinner and went watch Nanta Performance. It was a comedy, but I was too tired on that
day, I even slept for minutes in the studio while my friends were extremely laughing while watching the show.
One of my friends were invited to go on the stage with the actors, he was very lucky to have that chance.
When the show was over, we went back to our hotel, clean ourselves and took a rest as we had spent so many
energy on that day. Furthermore, on the next day, we would perform at Suwon Highschool. Our fourth day
was a great day.

Hafiz : On the fourth day ,it was a pretty laid back day as our performance was tomorrow. We did our things
as usual, taking a shower and also having some breakfast. Today, I decided to wear the sweater that I bought
from the shopping mall days ago. As usual, we gathered at the lobby and moved to our next location
Today, we were going to visit the Gyeongbokgung Palace which took an one hour and 30 minutes ride to go
to. It was a rainy day but thanks to the KDCA ISCEP and YMCA for providing us the umbrella that was really
useful to us. There were an English Tour Guide that was going to explain everything to us about the palace and
the history behinds it. History was my favourite subject in school so I really enjoy hearing all the history of the
palace of another country which was really exciting in my opinion. The one that really stays in my head was
the story about how the princess was selected in the Dynasty Era which has an implicit message behind it.
After the tour was over, my friends and I were separated with the other groups but gratefully we were given a
map of the palace and we walked our way back. Before having lunch, we managed to capture some photos for
our memories.
The place that we would be having our lunch at was not that far, as it only took a couple of minutes of
walking from the Gyeongbokggung Palace. The restaurant served us some kind of Korean Barbeque there
which was delicious to have after a long day of walking. The owner of the restaurant was very friendly to us
while serving the food. After that, we went back to our bus to move to the next spot.
Our next spot is Insa-dong where they sell a lot of traditional souvenirs where we could buy a lot of stuff
there. Although it was raining, there were still a lot of people there. I took the chance here to buy a lot of
souvenirs that I will give to my family and friends back in Kota Kinabalu. I bought a lot of stuff such as
keychains, t-shirts and others. My experience there was really good. The saleswoman which was an old lady
was really friendly, teaching me a bit of Korean while I was buying stuff from her. I was pretty shocked when I
told her that I am from Malaysia, she told me that she once travel to Kota Kinabalu which is my hometown. I
ended spending a lot of money there buying souvenirs to be brought back.
Next, we moved to the famous busy street of Myeongdong, as my expectation it was really crowded
there. There were many shops and stalls that sell all sorts of food. Sadly, there was not enough time for us to
shop there because of the schedule but I managed to coped a pair of shoes after rushing to find the “LesMore
Shop”. Shopping at Insadong and Myeongdong made me think that shopping outside a mall in Korea is actually
better than what we have in our country where everything is basically located inside a mall. For our dinner, we
ate a Kimchi Fried Rice which was very spicy as from what my friend said but I still enjoyed the food. I ended
up eating a lot since my friend couldn’t eat it.
After that, we went to a theater beside our restaurant to watch “Nanta Performance” which was surprisingly
a cooking performance which was really weird at first. My expectation was the there will be a chef that was
going to teach us on how to make Korean food but it was way beyond that. The performances really caught
my eyes as it was very interesting because I had never watched something like that before. It was a musical,
comedy and really a spectacular performance. The actors and actress acting was spot on and was really good
at controlling the crowd. We ended up laughing a lot while watching them performing. After it ended, we
went back to our hotel to call it a day.

Kal : We woke up early in the morning as usual to have our breakfast before starting the fourth day of our
trip in Korea. After breakfast, we went to Seoul Gyeongbokgung which is an old Korean palace. The palace
were huge and surrounded by beautiful old buildings. We also learned some of the Korean history based on
that palace and honestly Korean history was interesting for me.
As soon as we finished visiting the palace, we went to the nearest restaurant to have our lunch. It was
indeed delicious.
After that, we head to Insadong to buy souvenirs for our friends and family back in Sabah. The best way to
describe it was, it was kinda like Gaya Street back in Kota Kinabalu but bigger and more interesting since its
was the first time I went there. Next, we went to Myeongdong to do some shopping for ourself. The place was
very interesting since it had a lot of shop that is not available in Kota Kinabalu.
After that we had dinner and went to watch Nanta Performance. I really liked it a lot because it was funny,
entertaining and my first time watching people acting on stage in real life. Finally, we went back to our hotel
to get some rest before continuing our trip the next day
Day 5 (2 December 2019)

Activities :

1. A quick stop at Hewasung Palace - We had a photo session here before moving to the school.

2. A performance at Suwon High School - We had our second performance at this school.

3. Ice skating at U&I Centre Ice Rink - We spent a few hours here learning how to skate on ice.

4. A stop at Suwon Lotte Mall - We had an hour of free time to explore the mall.

We woke up early in the morning to to wear our makeup and organize our costumes because today was the
day of our second performance that was held at Suwon High School. It was an all-boys high school that had
been a place for KDCA ISCEP performance for years. Went we arrived there, we went inside the main hall,
where all the students were waiting patiently for the performance. They took us to the backstage, with a few
teachers to take care of us there. The backstage was quite large, unfortunately it had no heaters, and was very
cold. Luckily, none of the us were severely sick from the cold. The performance went smoothly. The audience
looked really happy and enjoyed our performance. We also brought them up to the stage to dance together.
After we finished, we had time to take pictures together on the stage.
Then, we went to a restaurant to eat our lunch. They served us beef soup with glass noodle. After that, we
moved to U&I Ice Rink Centre. A few hours were spent on ice skating. Most of us fell for a thousand time.
Some gave up after a while, and some continued to skate and fall. The teachers and staffs who had been here
a few times were having an easy time skating, as they were experienced.
After that, we stopped at Suwon Lotte Mall and had a free time for an hour. Most of us bought clothings,
shoes and food. Then we moved to Homeplus to have dinner. Our dinner was really simple; shrimps with rice.
The ones who can't eat seafood were served with chicken. After dinner, we had another free time around the
mall, before walking back to our hotel.

Members Reflection

Pek : We started our day with having breakfast in the hotel and got ourselves ready to perform at Suwon
High School. We were welcomed warmly by the teachers there and what amazed me was that the backstage
of the school is was located underground of the school hall. It was so much fun performing there when all the
students were supportive of us.
After performing there, we had our lunch at a restaurant near the school and I had bibimbap while others
had beef soup.
Soon after, we moved to an ice-rink in a building for ice-skating. At first, I had difficulty to balance myself on
the ice-rink and fell a few times but that didn’t make me give up. I tried harder and using the correct method
to skate and lastly I learned how to skate almost smoothly. We had lots of fun there and it was not enough for
us.
Then, we went to Suwon Lotte Mall and we were supposed to be watching Frozen 2 but since everyone
disagreed, we just did shopping. We decided to shop there and I bought a pair of shoes and a few clothes for
my family. The mall was so big and had many shops that we could explore. We even tried Krispy Kreme and it
tasted so good as it was our first time and worth the money.
After we did the shopping, we went back to Homeplus to have dinner. After the dinner, we walked back to
our hotel like usual and we slept early because the next day we have to go to Samil Technical School for
performance and class.

Aurora : When we arrived at Suwon High School, all the students were already seated in the main hall. I
noticed that all of them were boys. They took us to the backstage which was locater underground, behind the
stage. It was freezing there. After I finished a few of my dance, and had a few more to go, I had a really bad
headache that I was afraid was caused by my anemia. But it was probably caused by the cold. It was really
hard to stay focused during costume-changing with the headache, and it was so bad that I almost blacked out.
Carl helped covering me with a few layers of coats, and gave me water while I rested. It didn’t get any better
for at least a few hours but I still managed to perform without any other problems. After the performance, we
took some group photos at the stage, and a few students came to me and asked for my Facebook account. I
gave them my Instagram account instead since I don’t have Facebook, but it really made me blush.
At lunch, we had a really, really delicious beef soup. I loved it very much. After lunch, at the bus, Siro and I
had a really bad fight but we made up after a little while because she really couldn’t resist my love.
At the ice-rink, I had a very hard time skating. Standing on the floor was hard, standing on the ice was
impossible. Even the shoes were hurting me. I fell for at least a dozen times. Miss Katherine and Mr. La guided
me on how to balance myself and move forward but it was easier said than done. I still fell a lot. After a short
break, I tried again, this time along with my friend. He too, was a bad skater but at least better than I was. We
skated together, fell, and skated more, and teacher Azland came rushing from behind and hit us, making us fell
again. After a while, I can finally move forward myself, before the time was up. I had bruises on both of my
knees, my wrists, and my back for days. It was hard to stand up since.
We stopped at Suwon Lotte Mall before dinner. There, I did the thing my sister swore to kill me if I do. I
bought myself a pair of Fila shoes. It was a suicide attempt, but I was so glad to finally have a new sport shoes.
During dinner, we ate rice with shrimp? I think it was a shrimp. It was delicious. Then, we headed back to the
hotel.

Farysha : I woke up at 6.30am that morning ready for breakfast and prepared myself for the day ahead.
Breakfast at 8am was slowly becoming a routine and had the classic breakfast with cereal and milk to start the
day. As per usual, everyone started to gather one by one at 9am to travel to the planned destination for the
ongoing day.
We then rode on the bus to Suwon High School to perform there. I was getting quite nervous because we
were going to perform in front of teenagers. It is also an all-boys school. When we arrived at Suwon High
School, we were brought to one of their classroom for us to get ready. Performance starts at 11am so while
waiting, the teacher there let us watch some kpop video. They even gave us snacks to eat. When waiting, I
touched up my make up because it got a little smudge. Then when it was almost 11, we changed our clothes to
performance clothes, did our hair, put our accessories and got ready. It was really cold at the backstage, my
feet was numb when performing because we danced barefooted. After performance, I gave some souvenirs
from Sabah to the students. They loved it! We then headed back to the classroom and changed back our
clothes. We thank the teachers and the students and said goodbye. Then we went to eat lunch. We ate beef
soup and rice. Perfect combination for cold weather like that day. It was really delicious! The meat was very
tender and it easily came off from the bone.
After we ate lunch, we rode the bus to U&I Center Ice Rink ice skating. This activity was what I’d been
waiting to try! So we got our helmet and skating shoes to start ice skating. At first I thought it was not going to
be really hard to learn, but when I tried it for the first time, it was so slippery and hard to balance. I was
holding the wall at most of the time. Then I tried walking slowly and I fell so many time. But it got easy and
easier to skate. Then I got tired so I got off early. It was really funny to watch my friends fell down so many
time. I even recorded them skating! Then when the time was up, we all put back our helmet and shoes back.
We were all so tired.
Then we got back into the bus. We slept in the bus and get to our next stop. Our next stop was Suwon
Lotte Mall. It didn’t take long to arrive there. The Mall was big and it had an open library in it! I bought shoes
for myself because it was really cheap and nice. I also bought a beanie for my friend. While walking around the
mall, Claudia, Darren and I were hungry so went to eat at Lotteria. The burger was really tasty and spicy! After
we ate, we then got back to the entrance where we all were supposed to gathered. Then we went to eat
dinner. I didn’t eat much that time because I already ate. After a long and tiring day, we finally went back to
the hotel.

Marrylyine : It was the fifth day for us in Korea. Early in the morning my roommate was blasting some
Christmas music and I thought it was so funny and cheerful. We were preparing ourselves because we were
going to do our second performance at Suwon High School. It only took about 15 minutes to reach there.
Before we went to the school, we stopped at the King Castle for a moment to take some pictures. I was very
nervous because this was my first time singing in front of a large audience especially in a foreign country. We
were so thankful because all the students enjoyed our performance.
Then, we moved to U&I Centre after lunch to play ice skating. It was so hard to stabilize the skating shoes
because of the slippery floor. I fell a lot of times, surely that hurt pretty bad but I kept on playing it because it
was so exciting and fun.
After that, we went to Suwon Lotte Mall and we got our free time to explore the place. There were lots of
Christmas decorations and arts in the mall. We took as many pictures as we could and wrote some Christmas
wishes. It was so funny when we excitedly took the transparent elevator to went the cinema hall to taste the
popcorn because we can't watch the Frozen II movie. After that, we headed to a place near our hotel to have
dinner and bought some food to eat at the hotel.

Hafeez : After two days off, we finally had a performance today specifically at Suwon High School. After
putting on some make up and having some breakfast, we help to carry the dance performances props to the
hotel lobby. When the bus arrived, we put all our stuff inside and moved to the Suwon High School which
would take about a 40 minutes ride from the hotel. Before going there, we stopped at a place that was
connected to a palace to take some group and individual photos.
When we arrived, we received a warm welcome by the school and the principal. As what the principal said,
it was the second year for KDCA-ISCEP to perform there and it was truly an honour. Mr.Ra told me that it was
an all-boy school so there are only boys there. After getting ready with our costumes, we moved to the school
hall to get ready for the performances. I was surprised when I saw that the backstage of the hall was
underground. Our performances went smoothly as the students there was really supportive and were
chanting for us when we were performing.
For our lunch, we went to a restaurant nearby the school. We ate beef bone soup which was superbly good
for the cold weather. The beef was tender and the broth really helped to heat our body up alongside a bowl of
rice. It was really good and filled our stomach up. Before going out, we thanked the owner of the restaurant
who were sitting at the cashier counter which made me feel that most Koreans are very friendly.
Then, we moved to the U&I Ice Skating Rink where we were taught on how to ice skate. It was very exciting
for me because I had never ice skated before. As soon as we arrived, the ice skating equipment had already
been prepared by the staff there, from the boots that we were going to wear, to the safety helmets. I was
pretty scared when I first stepped into the rink so I hold on tight to the barrier hoping that I wouldn’t fall
down. After completing a round in the rink, I started to get the muscle memory on how to ice skate but yet, I
was still too scared to let go of the barrier. After getting some tips from Sir Terrence, I started to get my guts
and moved to the middle area. I was too busy balancing my body that I skated so slow but surprisingly, I only
fallen twice. Seeing some kids who skated really well when we were there made me jealous and wished that I
could do the same.
After spending hours on ice skating, we went to the Suwon Lotte Mall to do some shopping there. The mall
was huge and packed with a lot of stores. When we were there, everyone was buying some stuff such as
shoes, clothing, food and others while I managed to buy a “Seoul” hoodie and also a skincare product for my
mother back in KK. That night, it was freezing cold and the wind was blowing strong.
After having some dinner like we usually did, we moved to the hotel after a long tiring day to have a rest as
tomorrow, we were going to perform for the last time in Korea.

Siro : On our fifth day, we had our second performance at Suwon High School. So as always, we were asked
to get up early, take breakfast, put on our make up and prepare our costumes. But also as always, my
roommate and I failed to wake up on time as we both had poor time management. We got up quite late and
were surprised to see the time that we had to prepare ourselves. We rushed to clean our faces, wore make up
and went breakfast. By 9 am, we ran from our room to the lobby and many of my friends were walking to the
bus.
We then moved to Suwon High School. The weather was good. It was sunny but still very cold. We were
brought to a classroom where we could put our bags and put on our costumes. After we were ready, we
moved to the school hall. There were many students waiting for our performances and all the students were
male. When we started our performance, they gave us a very big hands. After all our performances were
done, we took some pictures with the students and teachers from that school and also the KDCA ISCEP group
photos. We gave the students some souvenirs and moved back to the classroom to change our clothes and
took our bags. Before we went into the bus, we took pictures with the students there informally. They were all
friendly and handsome.
We went into the bus and moved to a restaurant to take our lunch. We were served with hot soup, and
the meat inside them was very tasty. The food was the thing that I really fall in love with. The next location we
went after taking our lunch was U&I Center. We learned how to do ice skating there. It was very hard for me
and I did fall one time and decided to stop playing as I had a problem with my right knee. I was worried if
something bad will happen if I keep on playing. I sat on a chair that was provided for the visitors with some of
my friends that also didn't play, like me. They were Carl and Vanessa.
After few hours, they stopped the ice skating activity as we were going to move to another location. We
moved to Suwon Lotte Mall and when we went off the bus and walked into the mall, the weather was really,
really cold and the wind also was quite strong. I walked with Carl, Aurora and Hafeez. We firstly walked calmly
towards the mall but as the weather got too cold, we ran quickly to reach the door. We were given an hour to
shop there. I had use the time given nicely because I managed to buy things there. I bought a blouse for my
mother as a souvenir and also two pairs of shoes, one for myself and another one for my friend. Other than
that, I bought two sweaters for my friends in my school. I was happy to buy things for them from Korea. When
it was 7 o’clock, all of us gathered in front of the door where we entered earlier. Seems like I was one of the
people who bought many things there. We then moved to a restaurant by bus. We were served with rice,
fried shrimp and other side dishes. The food was good. After dinner, we went to a mall near our hotel, we
were given two choices, whether we want to go shopping at the mall or go back to the hotel. I chose to go to
our hotel because I brought too much things at Lotte Mall.
We walked through the very cold weather to our hotel , my paper bag was suddenly torn because there
were too many things inside. I could still carry the bag even though the holder was broken by hugging it. When
Carl saw me, he kindly lend a helping hand to carry the broken bag for me. He helped me with that until we
arrived at the hotel. I was really thankful to him. When we reached our room, me and Aurora took our bath
and went to Claudia's room. We spent our free time there and sang songs. We went back to our room when
we were sleepy. That day was also one of the most memorable days of being in Korea.

Kal : As usual, we woke up early in the morning to have breakfast before starting our trip. Then, we went to
Suwon High School to perform the performance that we had prepared for them. Before arriving, we stopped
at Hewasung Palace to take a look at the beauty of the construction of the old palace and we took some group
photos there.
During our performance, the crowds which are the students of Suwon High School were very supportive.
We had fun performing there.
After performance, we went to a restaurant to have lunch before continuing our trip. Then, we went to
U&I Center. There, we learned on how to ice skating and it was fun and hilarious since it was a first to most of
us. To be honest, I’m really bad at ice skating. I fell down 2 times. The moment i fell down for the first time,
Abang Daniel wanted to help me get up but we both fell down together instead and we were laughing about
it. Almost all of us fell down at least once.
Next, we went to Lotte Mall to do some shopping and then finally head back to our hotel to get some rest

Day 6 (3 December 2019)

Activities :

1. Class and performance in Samil Tech High School - During class session, we learned on the how to make
natural toothpaste and sunscreen, and learned how the chemicals in most sunscreen would badly affect the
sea corals.

2. A visit to Korean Traditional Market - We had some free time around the market and bought a few things.

At 9 am, we took the bus to our next and last performance destination, Samil Tech High School. We had to
dress formally, which includes black blazers and slacks, with white inner, solely because we had a class session
with the students there. We arrived at the school, and once we got off the bus, it started to snow. Most of
never experienced snow before so all of us were amazed and excited. We then walked to the school building
and entered a classroom. There, we were warmly greeted by some teachers and showed us our seats. There
were 5 groups of tables, and we had to take our seats, leaving two empty seats n each groups. They were for
the school students who would be joining us that day. After the students came and took their seats, we
introduced ourselves to them and had a quick chat. They were really friendly. Then, the teacher had a
welcoming speech and told us our activities for the day. First, we would make a natural toothpaste and
sunscreen. Then, they would show us the process of 3D printing.
He showed us a short documentary on the danger of specific chemicals in most sunscreen (oxybenzone
and octinoxate) to our coral reefs. The chemicals that went into the ocean after being washed off from
humans who are swimming, are a threat to coral reefs as they would pollute and bleach the reefs. Then, we
began our first activity, which was to make natural sunscreen and toothpaste. 3 groups would be making
toothpaste, while the other 2 would be making sunscreen. The Korean students helped us to read the
instruction, which was written in Korean, and also helped us along the activity.
After we finished, we stepped outside to walk to the cafeteria to had our lunch. There, we would enjoy the
snow that were falling. We had lunch with the Korean students and chatted with them. The food was really
good compared to our canteens back in Malaysia. Then, we also had a chance to look at the process of 3D
printing. It was fascinating to see the machine and the crafts they made with them.
Then, we went back to the classroom to change into our costumes and got ready for our performance. We
walked to the place where we will perform, which was a chapel. Everyone was confused of the place that was
picked for us to perform, but we didn’t say anything. The changing room was really small, but we managed to
perform without a hassle. The performance went really well, and the audience enjoyed it as much as we did.
We also watched two performance performed by the Korean students. They did really well and we genuinely
enjoyed them.
After we finished our performance, we said goodbye to them, and headed back into our bus. We then
moved to Korean Traditional Market. They gave us a few hours to explore the place and shopping. When the
sun went down, we went to the bus again and moved to a restaurant for dinner. Then, we moved to our hotel
and ended the day.

Class session with Samil Tech High School students

Members Reflection

Pek : Today was a quite exciting day as we get to dress smartly and got chance yo go in class with the Korean
students at Samil Technical High School. We ate our breakfast at the hotel and got ourselves makeup and
dressed well. After that, we moved to Samil Tech High School and we were welcomed well. As soon as we
arrived, we were directly asked to go into the class and communicate with several Korean students. At first, it
was quite awkward between Suhyon, Nyenggeong and I but it worked fine time by time.
We learned on how to make eco-friendly sun screen by using a few combination of chemicals. This is
because our mother nature are in danger as the sunscreen we always use contains certain chemicals that can
harm the marine life. So, we have to create an eco-friendly sunscreen before it was too late. After the
sunscreen-making class, we had lunch at the school canteen. Although it was a school canteen, the food tasted
delicious and better than the food we had in school canteen way back in Malaysia. We visited their 3D printing
workshop and it was so fascinating when every models they printed were so detailed and interesting.
Then, we get to perform our few traditional culture dances. They were so amazed with our dance and we
were so happy too for having the chance to perform for them. To appreciate our efforts and performance,
they prepared two performance for us and it was so good as we rarely had the opportunity to watch
performance like that.
After all the performance, we moved to the Korean Traditional Market and had our free time for almost 2
hours there. I spent almost an hour at a cafe with Carl because we were too tired to explore the market so we
decided to take a rest. After that, we went to a restaurant for dinner and went back to the hotel. It was such a
tiring day yet very interesting and I will not forget it.

Pupu : We woke up around 8 am, and got ready. Today, Siro and I finally made it to breakfast. However, we
sprinted upstairs after that to wear our makeup. We then rushed to the lobby using the stairs because we
were almost late and the lift was slow. Siro even fell down the stairs. When we made it, we noticed that we
forgot our costumes bag in our room. We ran upstairs again, grabbed our costumes, ran downstairs, and
quickly hopped into the bus. And that was how we started our 6 th day here in Korea.
Once we got off the bus at Samil Tech High School, it was snowing. I was extremely happy to finally
experience snow for the first time. I couldn’t even my eyes off the window once we made it to the class. Our
group made eco-friendly toothpaste. The Korean students in our group were really friendly and were happy
chatting with us even though there were language barriers. They used Google translate to try and chat with us
since they didn’t speak English that well. Our group finished first and we enjoyed the activity so much.
Then, we went to the cafeteria to eat our lunch. While walking there, I filmed the falling snow as they were
so beautiful. It was as if I was in a Korean drama. Some of the Samil students were also playing snow fight at
the field. Our lunch was really delicious, especially the fishcakes and the cakes. Then, we went to their 3D
printing workshop to view the process of 3D printing. On our way there, the students gave us hot packs and
chocolate milk. I used my hot pack for a little while, but then I gave it to my friend since he didn’t have one
and I saw him shivering in the cold.
Then, we moved back to the classroom to prepare for our performance, before walking to where we would
perform. It was a chapel. I was confused at first, but didn’t question it. The changing ‘room’ wasn’t even a
room. It was a small stairway. Some of us who were performing 4 dances had a lot of trouble changing as it
was too small. And we even did a mistake with the Indian dance. I also did a mistake during the Malay dance
but I didn’t even care anymore. Then, when it was all over, we watched the Korean students performance. The
first performance was really.. something. After that, we took a lot of pictures along with the Korean students
and bid our goodbye.
At the Traditional Market, I walked around with Siro and Darren. We didn’t buy much except the red bean
buns that I bought. The seller was really kind and friendly. She, along with another auntie customer talked
with me while I was waiting for my food. I could understand them a bit since I know to speak Korean just a
little, though I did asked Hafeez to help me a few times. They asked where we were from, and talked about
the cold weather. Siro and I also bought really cute pyjamas that we would wear for the night.

Farysha : Me and my roommate got up early to do our makeup and hair for our last performance. Like the
usual, I ate breakfast at the hotel. After I ate, I changed my clothes to a formal outfit then we gathered at the
lobby at 9. Waited for the bus to arrive. Our first destination was Samil Tech High School. When we are on our
way, we can see there’s snow falling. I was really happy that I get to see snow for the first time!
When we got inside the school, it slowly started to snow heavily. It was really cold that time. Then we got
into their classroom. We then were divided into groups. My group were me, Pek, Sakinah, Suhyun and
Eunyong. Suhyun is 19 years old and Eunyoung is 17 years old. We communicate really well that time. They
were so friendly. Then a teacher there explained about sunscreen that contains forbidden chemicals that can
break down coral. They taught us on how to make our own sunscreen and with safer ingredients. Eunyoung
and Suhyun were really helpful and fun at the same time. We succeeded in making our own sunscreen lotion.
After we made our sunscreen, we went down and went to their canteen to eat. It was snowing heavily
that time, then the students there made a snowman! It was really cute. When we got to the canteen, the
canteen was warm and there were so many students and teachers lining up to get food. We ate with the
students there. The food was good but they served pork so I didn’t eat that much, I only ate rice, steamed
chicken and the cake. It was really good.
After we ate, we went to their 3D printing room. I was surprised that 3D printing exists. They made so
many stuff with 3D printing like keychain, toys and many more.
We then went back to classroom to get ready for our last performance. Like usual, we changed our
clothes, did our hair and put on accessories. We then performed like usual. I was kind of sad because it was
our last performance. We did really great at the stage. After we perform, students there also performed for
us! The girls were dancing Kpop dance and the other group were more into cheerleading dance. While they
were performing, I gave all of my souvenirs to the students there. They were so happy to get them. Then we
went back to classroom and get changed. With a heavy heart, we left the school and said goodbye to the
teachers and students there.
We then rode the bus to Haenggung-dong tour to visit Traditional Korea market. The Korean market there
sells clothes, traditional clothes and many more. I bought a sweater there and the auntie gave me discount!
She was really kind and friendly. After we shop, we went to eat dinner. After we ate, we then went back to our
hotel.

Mar : We've been in Korea for sixth day and today was our last day to perform in Korea at Samil Tech High
School. This time, things got more interesting because we're not only perform for the students, we also
organized a programme with them. When we got out of the bus, the most beautiful and majestic thing
happened, it was snowing ! I couldn’t describe or even say it in words when i saw the snow gracefully falling
down. It was my first time seeing snow, before this I only saw it on Korean dramas but this time I got to see it
in front of my eyes. Then we went to the class to start the learning.
Before the class get started, we were given souvenirs with our own name on it. We were also told that
they used a special machine in their school to carve our name. We got the chance to learn and experience how
it was to study there since we wore laboratory outfits, the feeling became more surreal. We learned on to how
make organic toothpaste and sunscreen without using any chemical. There was a couple of Korean students in
our group, one of them was considered as our senior. The funny part was when the two of our friends were so
competitive but funny at the same time, they were arguing about who measured the materials right.
After that, we get a chance to see the carving process. They also showed us handcrafts that they made
other than the carving. We were very impressed with the technology in the room. We also got our chance to
play the snow at the field. Snow ball fight!
After lunch , we were preparing ourselves for out last performance. I was very relived and sad that it was
our last performance. As usual everything went smoothly, everyone did their best in the performance. The
students also didn’t want to lose to us. So, they prepared their own performance for us which is known as the
'k-pop' dance. It was an energetic performance that made us stunned as the performance continued.
Then, we moved to Haenggung-dong to visit the traditional Korean market. Since there’s a lot of shops
there, we went to take a look of what the people were selling there. Turns out most of the shops were selling
the same style of clothes. On our way back to where we supposed to gather, I found a shop selling phone
casings. I found a dinasour casing which I really like but sadly there was no matchable with my phone and I got
pretty sad about it.

Hafeez : On our 6th day in Korea we will be having our last performance which going to take place in Samil
Tech High School. After doing our morning routine, we put on a formal look with some blazers as today we
were going to have a class with the students there. When everyone was waiting in the lobby, all of them were
looking very good and neat, getting ready to meet the students at the school.
As soon as we arrived there, it feels like a movie when the snow started to fall when the bus stopped. It
was the first snow in Korea this year which was a very perfect moment and lucky for us to experience it
together. Without spending too much time, we walked to the classroom where we will be having our class at.
There, we met the school teachers and also the students that were going to guide us on doing the experiment.
The theme of the experiment was about saving the environment, Before we start, we were asked to put on
some lab clothes. When we met with the Korean students, they were very friendly. After getting to know each
other, we had a conversation with our friends Yeon Su and Ju An. They were shocked knowing the rules of our
schools that we cannot bring our phones and also the fact that we couldn’t wear make up to school. We had a
great time doing the experiment which was a nature friendly toothpaste. At the end of the session, we were
very thankful to the Samil Tech High School for giving us a souvenirs which was a 3D printed stamp that they
made themselves.
After that, I had lunch at the school canteen with my new friends Yeon Su. Thankfully, she kindly told me
which food that I cannot eat because it contains pork. The food there was really good and my favourite was
the spicy omuk which is basically a spicy fishcake. Next, we took a look at their 3D printing workshop which
had a lot of tech in it. On our way there, we could see that the snow had already covered their school field and
also the cars that were parked there. There, they also gave us some keychains that they printed themselves at
the workshop and also a box of chocolate milk that tasted very good.
The moment that we had been waiting for had came, it was our final performance. After putting our
costume on, we moved to the school hall where we were going to perform. There were a lot of difficulties
when we were there especially regarding the space for us to change our costumes. Thanks to the teamwork of
the members, everything was going smoothly. We didn’t expect that the school were also going to have a
special performance for us. It was very entertaining to watch the students performing there. When we
finished, we brought our belongings and after saying goodbye to the students, our performance that we had
been preparing for 2 months had come to an end. It was a mixed feelings for me as I was happy because
everything went smoothly and also sad that this was our last performance together.
For our next destination, we went to Haenggung-dong which is a Korean Traditional Market. Because we
already bought a lot of stuff from the day before, my friend and I chose to try some food there. We bought a
Korean Red Bean Bun called Bungeoppang which taste really good and served hot. After quite some time, we
moved our way to the hotel and had a rest.

Siro : Our last performance in our trip was on the sixth day. After we got up in the morning, we had our
breakfast and put on our makeup and packed our costumes. As usual, we gathered at the hotel lobby by 9
a.m. and went into our bus. We moved to the last school that we will visit, it was Samil Tech High School.
When we were on our way, our bus stopped for a while then miss Cathrine told us that it was snowy outside,
all of us were excited because some of us had never seen snow before. We went off the bus, took pictures for
a few minutes and continued our journey to the high school.
As we arrived at the school, it was very cold and snowing a lot. We were brought to a classroom where we
will learn on how to make toothpaste and sunscreen ourselves, with the Korean students. We sat in groups
and there were at least two Korean students that will lead us to produce the products. There were 6 of us in
our group. Me, Aamanda, Dercy, Darryl, and the two Korean students that I failed to remember the names.
After about an hour, our products were almost done but we then walked to the canteen because we had
to take our lunch. We sat in our group while eating. The food was delicious and quite spicy.
After lunch, we were brought to visit a room that were equipped by many machines which they use to
make keychains and many other things. It was interesting. When we saw all the equipment, we went out of
the room and took pictures near their school field. The weather was too cold and the female student that was
in my group gave me a hot pack, she was kind, pretty and friendly. We finally moved back to the classroom
and took our costumes as the performances were starting soon. When we went inside their hall, I was quite
surprised because the room provided for us to change clothes were a little narrow, but it was not an obstacle
for us to not perform greatly. We gave our best on the stage and the audience were entertained. When we
finished all of our performances, we gave them some souvenirs as a remembrance. All of them were friendly
and good. We finally finished our main purpose to go to Korea on that day, and it will be the last time we
dance together.
We then moved to Haenggung-dong by bus. It was a Korean traditional market. I explored the market
there with Aurora and Darren. I didn't bought many things there, only a pajama and a glass of cotton candy.
Aurora's pajama and mine had the same pattern but different colour. Mine was pink and hers were yellow, I
don’t know if it's true or not but I think she likes yellow because she did bought a yellow sweater days before
that. After spending our time there, we moved to a restaurant and had our dinner. The weather was very cold
as always. After we enjoyed our dinner, we went back to our hotel, showered and spent our free time in our
friend’s room, ate the food we bought and shared stories together. It was another great day.

Kal : It was the sixth day of our trip, and as usual we woke up early in the morning around 6 am to clean
ourselves before starting our trip. Then, we had our breakfast at the hotel. We got in the bus around 9.30am
and move to Samil Tech Highschool to perform.
When we arrived at the high school, our first activity was learning how to make our own products of
environment-friendly such as sun screen and toothpaste. It was interesting for me because it was the first time
i got and even made my own environment-friendly product.
Then, we had lunch there, the food was delicious and it tasted like we’re eating at a restaurant. On top of
that, I admire the Korean students because they helped to cleaned their own table after eating which is rarely
seen in our school.
After eating, we took a look at how the process of making things with 3D printer. Then we perform at the
school church, despite some difficulties that we faced, we managed to deliver our performance with our best.
Even though there were some mistakes, at least we had fun and the students of the high school did too.
After we had done performing, we went to Haenggung-dong which is a traditional market. Finally, we had
dinner and then went back to hotel to get some rest and called it a day.

Day 7 (4 December 2019)

Activities :

1. A tour at Lotte World - We were given the whole day to explore Lotte World and have fun!

2. A visit to Lotte World Tower, Seoul Sky - The tallest building in South Korea.

Today was what all of us had been exciting for. We had finished all of our performances and now, we would
spend the whole day in Lotte World! After breakfast, we moved to Seoul to go to the famous attraction, Lotte
World. It has the world’s largest indoor theme park, along with an enormous outdoor theme park, filled with
various thrilling rides, an ice rink, parades and museum.
We arrived there after a long bus ride from Suwon. Miss Katherine gave us a short briefing before giving us a
map each. We took group photos before we were set loose. We explored the whole indoor park. It was very
beautiful and colourful. There were another swinging viking ride (The Conquistador), hot air balloon rides, an
indoor roller coaster (French Revolution), a merry-go-round (Camelot Carousel), a skating rink, haunted
mansion (Tomb of Horror), Drunken Basket, the Flume Ride, a lot more. Most us explored the indoor park first
before lunch.
At 12.30, we went back to where we first met, to have our lunch. They took us to a restaurant, Lotteria, and
gave us a food voucher each. We would order them and gave them our vouchers. We ate different types of
burgers. There were mozzarella burgers and beef bulgogi burgers.
After we finished our lunch, we started exploring the outdoor theme park. Some of us went to the Bungee
ride, the Gyro drop, the Swing tree, the Gyro spin, and the Atlantis roller coaster ride. It was very tiring to line
up during the cold, but it was worth it.When we had a few hours of free time left, we tried the other indoor
games like the Flume ride and The Conquistador.
Then, they brought us to have dinner at the ground floor. We ate bibimbap and kimchichigae. Then, we
walked to the Seoul Sky, the fifth highest building in the world, and the highest building in South Korea. It has a
360 degree view of the whole city. We took the elevator to the 123th floor to have a view of the city, and took
pictures on the glass floor. Then, we walk around the floor and buy souvenirs. After that, we went back to the
ground floor and took the bus to the hotel. It was truly an amazing experience to be up there.

Members Reflection

Pek : I guess today was the day where everyone had been waiting for, we were going to Lotte World. Woke
up at 7 and had our breakfast at the hotel, we moved to Seoul earlier than usual. After almost an hour of bus
ride, we finally arrived at Lotte World. At first, I was amazed of how big it was as there were three indoor
floors of amusement park and even outdoor amusement park.
For our first game, we tried Spinning Cup and it was a bad choice because it made us dizzy almost an hour
because Carl decided to spin the cup nonstop for the whole session. We were spinning around and energy-less
as we were so dizzy with the spins. After trying the Spinning Cup, we hopped on the hot air balloon to see the
view of Lotte World from above and it was so amazing where you could see parents bringing their kids to have
fun and some of the people screaming around. We queued for almost 40 minutes for the hot air balloon and
by the time it ended, we had to go to Lotteria to have our lunch. I had spicy crispy chicken while most of them
eat cheeseburger.
After we had our lunch, we went to the outdoor amusement park and I was amazed by the view there as
it really looked like Disneyland and we took a few pictures before discovering the place. Round and round, we
finally decided to queue for the Atlantis, which is a super speed roller coaster and we waited for almost two
hours for it. Finally, it was our turn and all of us were so nervous as when we got in, we keep talking to each
other to distract ourselves. When it started to move, we were so hyped up until it decided to speed up and all I
heard was screaming from them. Words couldn’t describe how fast the roller coaster was. The ride only took
us 10 minutes to finish and once we got down from it, we were so pale as it was a culture-shock for us and
only started to share our experience after a few steps away from the roller coaster area. It was fun yet tiring
ride as we all were just screaming during the ride.
Then, we went back into the indoor because it was so cold out there and we couldn’t stand it anymore. We
had another ride where it involved water with it and it was so much fun when the water splashed on us. Then,
after that ride, Larry, and a few of us decided to rest and had snacks while waiting for Carl, Sean, and Marsha
to finish their last ride which was the Conquistador. I bought a few souvenirs from Lotte World for my sister
and so did Carl. That was the end of our Lotte World story and we went to have dinner. I ate fried pork with
side dishes while the others had spicy kimchi soup and I felt grateful because mine was special than the
others. It tasted so good and the fried pork was so crunchy so I decided to share it among my friends.
Dinner done and here we went to the next stop which was Seoul Sky Tower. This tower was not an
ordinary tower, as it had 120 floors in total and only took us 1 minute to reach the 118 th floor. Up there, was a
full surprise view. You could literally see almost the whole city of Seoul filled with night lights and I was
amazed. We even got to step on a transparent glass floor where you could look underneath us and I realized
we were so high from the ground. We had picture session there but unfortunately, Teacher Lesly is a vertigo
person where she is afraid of heights and she ran to the toilet to vomit. Suddenly when we decided to walk
back to the lift, Marrylyine fainted and I was one of them to assist her and comfort her. We were so panic as it
was out of the sudden. We let her rest and sit for a while before getting into the lift and back to the ground
floor.
Soon when we reached there, we went into the bus and the journey back to Suwon took us almost an
hour plus. We all slept in the bus as it was a tiring day for all of us where we all had fun and filled with
laughter. As we got back to our hotel, we went to our room and had a sleep until tomorrow morning. That was
all for today and I had a lot of fun today with them and will always cherish the moments.

Pupu : Siro and I woke up late again, so we didn’t have breakfast. When we were moving to Lotte World, we
spent our time in the bus wearing light makeup. As we arrived, all of us were very excited, and so was I. We
walked inside and it was such a view. The indoor park was very big, with a lot of attractions. A few of us
walked around before lining up for The Conquistador, similar to the Swinging Viking ride back in Korean Folk
Village, but twice the size. At first, I was very confident to ride it, but as the line got shorter, and shorter, I
started to regret it. Even Siro and I almost gave up and quit the line, but they convinced us to do it. Once it was
our turn, all of our other friends sat at the end of the ship, while both of us sat near the middle. The middle
was supposed to be less scary. It wasn’t. Both of us didn’t dare to open our eyes or let go of each other’s
clothes. When it was finished, which felt like a year, we continued to walk around the area and tried to find
the others. Siro and I bought ice cream cones while Darren was busy studying the map we were given. We
wanted to ride the indoor roller coaster, but the waiting time was almost an hour so we gave up.
It wasn’t long until we had to go to Lotteria to grab our lunch. I had a spicy chicken burger, but I was
already full so I gave mine to Siro.
After lunch, I went with the other group. We stopped at the first floor to watch a Christmas parade. It was
so much fun when we started to dance along with the dancer in front of us, and she even gave us a highfive!
There was fake snow falling from the ceiling and it reminded me of the snow we experienced at Samil Tech
High School. Once the parade was over, we went to the haunted ghost house and bought our tickets, which
cost 4000 won each. Again, Sasa, Larry, Sean and I were supposed to go in together but Larry was so scared
that he just dipped us. We waited for our turn while laughed about being nervous. Both of them were so
scared to go in while I was there, completely convinced that it wasn’t that scary. And I was right! While I did
screamed inside the house, it wasn’t as scary as the one in Korean Folk Village. However, my friend was behind
me and couldn’t stop hugging me as we walked through it, as he was really jumped with the ‘ghosts’ who at
the last minute, suddenly opened the cage we was in and started to chase us. We couldn’t stop laughing after
that.
Then, we went to the outside theme park to ride the Atlantis roller coaster. As we stepped out, we saw a
really gorgeous castle that looked like Disney castle. We took some photos with the castle behind us before
walking. There were a lot of people but thankfully it wasn’t so crowded. The line for the Atlantis was very, very
long. We waited for two hours and it was freezing since I forgot my gloves and heat pack. Finally it was our
turn and the ride had 8 seats. It was 10 of us so the other two sat in the other ride. At first, we were laughing
and talking when the ride slowly started to move. Then, it stopped. Just a few seconds after that, this thing
went FAST. Imagine how fast you think roller coasters go, now double that. I couldn’t let go of the handle as I
screamed like the world was going to end. We ALL screamed like the world was going to end. Especially when
the ride went downhill, it felt exactly like the Drop and Twist ride in the Folk Village, except a hundred time
worse. I had no idea how long the ride was, but it felt like a minute of hell. Once we got off of the ride, I didn’t
think I could walk properly that time. Two hours of lining up in the cold? Totally worth it. We then walked
inside and decided to try the Flume ride. It was pretty cool. It was like a miniature version of the Atlantis,
except with water slapping your face all the time. Then they wanted to the the Conquistador but who am I
kidding, I won’t go back there. A few of us went to buy some spicy chicken popcorn while waiting for them.
After dinner, we walked to the Seoul Sky Tower. As we were waiting for the elevator, I was so nervous
thinking about the glass floor, where we could see beneath us. The elevator took a minute to reach the 118 th
floor. At first I was awed by the speed but then, two floors per second? That doesn’t beat the Atlantis. As we
reached there, I looked around through the glass wall. The city was decorated with the night lights and it was
so beautiful. Then, we went a few floors up and there it was, the glass floor. All of them easily stepped onto it
while staring down and taking pictures. I tried to step onto it but I didn’t even dare to look at it. Katherine a
few of my friends convinced me that it was okay and they slowly walked me there while grabbing onto me. I
was also filming a video while squaring up to go there and it was funny to watch it again, with me almost
crying. I walked there for a few seconds before I ran away. Then, being the brave girl that I am, I tried once
again to walk there by myself and look beneath me. Sean, who I thought would be scared by the height, was
calmly walking there, so he just let me grab his coat while I was trying to walk around. When we were taking a
group photo on the floor, some of us were really scared so the photoshoot went quickly. I swore I felt the
building slowly swinging as I sat down and all I could think was ‘What if this thing fall, what if this thing fall’.
When we finished taking pictures, I sat beside my bag silently. Then I felt myself crying. Every time I had to test
my fear of heights, I couldn’t stop crying after. I guess it was because I was relieved. Katherine and Daphne
were there calming me down while I laugh-crying. Sean also asked me if I’m okay. I told him I was fine.
The bus ride to the hotel was long. All of us slept after the tiring day. Today was filled with excitement and
for me, fear. But still, today was the best day ever.

Hafeez : Finally, the anxiety of performing had fallen from our shoulders and it was our 7th day in Suwon,
Korea. Our plan today was to go to the LotteWorld Adventure which is like a Universal Studio of Korea which is
located in Jamsil-dong. After getting ready, we moved from Vella Suite Hotel to Lotteworld.
When we arrive, we gather at the main entrance of the park where we were given our ticket. I was
speechless when I first step on the park. It feels magical seeing how huge the park is and how many ride I can
go to. It felt like I was being a kid again. For the first half, we didn’t play that much ride as we were just walking
around planning which ride to go to later. After having our lunch in Lotteria, which served us really good
mozzarella burger, we began our adventure in Lotteworld.
After waiting for almost two hours, we started with Atlantis Roller Coaster. It was my first time riding a
roller coaster because I was always terrified of it for my whole life. I didn’t really know what to expect from
the ride, but one thing that I know was that I was really scared. I could hear the buzzing excitement from the
people riding it. My heart was beating really fast when the ride started, and a split second after that the roller
coaster started accelerating and all I could do was scream. After minutes of torture, I couldn’t believe that I
made it and was kind of enjoying the adrenaline somehow. I regretted my decision at first but I was truly
grateful for it at last. As we have a plenty of time left, we try a variety of rides such as haunted house, Viking
and much more. It was truly an experience and thankfully I could get off my phobia there.
For our dinner,we ate bibimbap at some kind of food court in Lotteworld. It was our second time eating it
but it was still enjoyable. After finished, we were told to put our plates back to the stall which was a very good
habit to apply to our daily life even back in Kota Kinabalu. Alter and I was late because we were waiting for Pek
to finish his food but thankfully Teacher Jona and Catherine was there to wait for us.
Next, we moved to the building beside it to visit the Seoul Sky Tower. As I said that we were late,we were
rushing on our way there where the other group was waiting for us. After lining up to give our ticket, we get
into the Sky Tower. We were separated into two groups as the elevator only could carry an amount of people.
The elevator was really jaw dropping for me as it can go up to the 118th floor in just one minute. To get into
the highest floor we need to climb some stair to the 123 rd floor which is 555m above water levels. Even though
it was getting dark, the night view of Seoul was really breathtaking. The glass floor was really terrifying at first
but was fine once you get the hang of it. There, I bought some souvenirs of the Seoul Sky Tower for my
cousins.
I was sure that everybody was tired from the long day of excitement so after visiting the Seoul Sky Tower
we went back to our hotel to call it a day.

Farysha : It was the seventh day and I was kind of sad that we are leaving Korea soon. I woke up late because
I didn’t have to put on makeup for performance anymore. Like usual, went to eat breakfast at the hotel. Got
ready and gathered at the lobby at 9:30am. Waited for the bus to come to bring us to our first destination. So
our first stop was Lotte World. I’ve been wanting to go there since I was 13! Dream finally came true. It didn’t
take long to arrive to Lotte World. When we arrived, me and my friends were already really excited to go in. So
our first ride was Viking. Me and friends were really excited but scared at the same time because it was scarier
than the one at Folk Village. We screamed really loud, my heart dropped because it was really high and scary.
Then, we had lunch at Lotteria, I ordered the spicy chicken burger. It was delicious, crunchy and really
spicy. After we ate, we walked around to explore the place. After that, we decided to go to the outside part of
Lotte World. Our first ride was Gyro drop, it was the highest ride there. At first I didn’t want to, but Darren
forced me to join and I fell for it. Darren, Claudia and I lined up. I had to think twice if I wanted to or not
because the ride looked scary. But I kept telling myself that it is a once in a lifetime experience. So I just
followed them. Then when it’s our turn, I was really scared and I held Claudia’s hand the whole time. After the
ride, I was shaking because it went down really fast. But I didn’t regret it because it was fun at the same time.
Then our next stop was the haunted house. It was really funny that all of us were screaming so loud even
thought we knew that all of them are normal people. After that, we rode the swing tree. It was not really scary
and it was kind of boring. Then, we went back inside to ride roller coaster. At first, we didn’t want to because
the line was really long. But in the end, we ended up going anyway. We lined up for almost 1 hour. It didn’t
take long like I expected it to be. I never rode a roller coaster before. I sat beside Darren and his reaction was
really funny. We were screaming really loud and I almost cried because it was really fast. Then, we didn’t want
to ride any scary rides anymore, so we went to hot air balloon ride. I can see everything from the ride and it
was really beautiful. It was almost time to gather, so before we went to the entrance, we rode the horse riding
ride. We took a lot of pictures there! Then we gathered back at the entrance.
Before we went back to our hotel, we went to Seoul Sky Tower. Seoul Sky Tower is a super tall
skyscraper. It has 123 floors. We experienced a really fast elevator that can go up to 118th floor in exactly 1
minute only! It was such a blessing that I got to see the city of Seoul with my own pair of eyes. We then went
back to our hotel. It was totally a fun day.

Siro : The seventh day in Korea was my greatest of the greatest day. We were given free time in Lotte World
for a whole day, from morning until night. On that day, we firstly get up, get ready, had breakfast and
gathered at the hotel lobby at 9 am as usual.
We then went into our bus and moved to Lotte World. The journey took time about an hour and we finally
arrived at Lotte World. Firstly we took a group photos in front of the Lotte World main entrance. All the
decorations were too beautiful as I couldn’t describe with words. I also took a lot of pictures there because I
was in love with the view. In the morning, I explored the games in there with Aurora, Claudia, Darren and
Farysha. I loved every single of them because they were very funny. The first game we tried was viking, we
queued up the very long line for 40 minutes, while I followed them in the line, I was thinking that I won't go
with them because I am afraid of heights, but the workers told us that once we entered the line we can't
cancel it. There, I fought my fear and followed them. It was really scary even though I kept my eyes closed
while the boat swung very high. After some minutes, it stopped and it was a relief that I could finally went out
of that thing, it was very scary but quite funny. We explored the shops and games there, without realizing it,
the time went by so fast, it was already time for us to have lunch.
We were told to gather at the main entrance. Some of us came late so we walked to the Lotteria earlier
than them, we went there with Mr La, he was a kind and friendly man. He helped us ordered our meals. We
were served with a burger and fries. What a lucky day of mine, Aurora gave me her burger because she
couldn’t finish them, not even took a bite. I was completely full that time.
After we had our lunch , we continued exploring the games inside and outside of the Lotte World. Aurora
didn't walked with us that time, she followed the other group so four of us walked together, Me , Darren ,
Farysha and Claudia. We explored the games outside of the Lotte World and took many pictures because all
the buildings were extremely beautiful. We also went in a haunted house, it was very funny when Claudia was
buying tickets for us, the auntie who sold the tickets asked for Farysha’s passport because she thought Farysha
is still below 12. She didn't believe when Claudia told her about Farysha's age firstly. Farysha then took out her
passport and showed the aunt, we could finally go in the ghost house . I was very frightened as I am scared of
everything. I told Darren to always be behind me but he left me in the ghost house. He moved to the middle,
between Farysha and one other visitors. I was the one who were being left at the back. We held on the rope
all the time while walking, I kept my eyes closed and followed where they went. I didn't see anything but was
still scared. We finally went out of the ghost house, my hair was slender as if I was the ghost. It was really fun
and scary at the same time.
We the went back inside. And bought some drinks. We even rode the roller coaster even though we had to
line up for almost an hour. The last game we tried was a hot air balloon, it was very high but my friends told
me to come with them, I followed them even though I was quite scared of heights . When I followed them, I
didn't regret anything because i probably should try as many things as I could.
After we tried all of the games, it was almost 6. We gathered at the entrance as we were told to. We then
went to a restaurant to have dinner. The last location we went on that day was Seoul Sky Tower, the tower we
saw earlier when we played outdoor games that was very, very high. When we entered the tower and walked
into the lift , my ear felt quite uncomfortable as the lift was moving too fast. Only in few seconds , we were
already at the 118th floor. The view from up there was too beautiful as I could see the very wide area of Seoul.
We took lots of pictures there, it was a miracle that I didn't feel scared to see the cars moving below me as the
floor was made of glass. I also bought a small souvenir from there. We eventually went out of the Sky Tower
and went to our bus, went back to hotel and had a rest . The day was very wonderful.

Kal : It was our last few days of the trip and on the seventh day we were scheduled to visit Lotte World. As
the usual, we had breakfast at the hotel before starting our trip. It did not take too long to arrive Lotte World
from the hotel.
When we arrived there and got our first view of the place, I can see my friends face expression that they
are very excited and couldn’t wait to explore the place. Our first game was scary yet funny cause we got in the
haunted house. Alongside me was Daphne, Pek, Marsha and Abang Daniel. Although some of us look tough, it
didn’t work well when we got in the haunted house because everyone was scared and running. After that we
went to the hot air balloon ride to get the better view of the place. Then, we had lunch at Lotteria. I had
Mozzarella Cheese Burger and it was absolutely delicious and cheesy.
After that, we went to the outside part of the Lotte World and waited for about 2 hours to ride the roller
coaster and it was worth it. Daphne , Marsha, Vanessa, Sean, Pek, Darryl and I got in the same ride together.
We screamed so much like there was no tomorrow because the ride was moving too fast. After that we got
back in the indoor part because we were outside for too long and it was freezing cold.
Since we waited for too long for the ride, its about time for dinner but we went for our last ride which was
like a roller coaster but much safer and the ride is a boat. Daphne, Marsha, Darryl and I got in the ride
together. At first, we thought it was nothing much but suddenly when it got fast we screamed loudly because
we didn’t expect that at all. After having a lot of fun, we were all starving and we had dinner there.
Before ending our trip, we went to Seoul Sky Tower which is a skyscraper that consist up to 118 floor. It
was thrilling and such an experience there because of the light work before getting to the top part of the sky
scraper. To add it up, we also experience the fastest elevator in the world by far. When we reached the top
part, the scenery of the city lights at night were really beautiful and its such a blessing to witness it. We spent
a little more time there before finally went back to our hotel. It was indeed really a fun day.

Mar : The seventh day in Korea was our long waited day. We were visiting the Lotte World, it was a famous
place which is packed with their indoor and outdoor games. My friends and I decided to wore the same colour
of shirt when going to Lotte World. It didn’t take to long to reach there from our hotel.
As soon as we arrived, all of us got speechless with our first view of the place. The place was decorated
with a Christmas theme and it made us very excited to explore the place. We decided to explore the outdoor
games first. The moment we went out to play outdoor games, the view was just breathtaking, it was almost
like heaven because of the snowy view and the cold weather. One of the Korean students who promised to
come couldn’t make it. I was kinda sad because i promised to give him a souvenir , instead I gave the souvenirs
to the students that joined us on that time.
The first game we played was the Gyro Drop which was so scary even just by looking at it. Once we
decided to play it, it took us so high until I could see the whole Lotte World. As soon as we reached the highest
point, it dropped down at full speed. It was so scary until I started crying because I thought I was going to die
and at the same time my mom and my dad flashes through my eyes. After i played the breathtaking game, I
decided that I wont be playing it ever again. I just walk around, taking pictures and watching my friends played
the others scary games.
Then, we had lunch at Lotteria. I couldn't finish my Spicy Chicken Bugger because I was really excited to
play other games. After that, we continued to explore the place and played more games. This time we were
able to watch the Christmas performance that was showing at the first floor. There were a lot of different and
cute mascots. Then some of us wanted to go to a ghost house, which really wasn’t my type of games.
There was one friend that also didn’t like scary houses so we rushed to the place with cute animals. I got to
see different kinds of insects and i even got the chance to see a cute racoon. At the end, I also get a chance to
touch a fish that I had never seen before.
Before ending our trip, we went to Sky Tower which is one of the tallest building that had more than 100
floor. We also experienced the fastest elevator in Korea that only took 1 minute to reach 118 floor. We were
awed by the beauty of the night lights as we sat on top of the tallest building. Then, we spent a moment to
take pictures there before we went back to hotel. It was such an embarrassing moment when I suddenly
fainted because i have a height fright. Oh Acrophobia !!

Day 8 (5 December 2019)

Activities :

1. Moved to Vivaldi Park - We spent the day learning skiing at Vivaldi Park, and also spent the night there at
Daemyung Resort.

After our last breakfast at Villa Suite Hotel, we waited at the lobby at 9 am sharp. Then, we moved to Vivaldi
Park. We already packed our bags because we will spend our last night in Korea at Daemyeong Resort, a resort
near the park. The bus ride took a long time. We even stopped at a R&R to grabbed some snacks, and to use
the restrooms. The, we stopped at a restaurant to eat our lunch, before continued to Vivaldi Park.
Finally, we arrived there and the weather was way colder than it was in Suwon. It was approximately -12
degree Celsius. We were taken to the main hall to change our clothes. The ski clothes they gave us were really
colourful and funny. Then, we were brought to the ski park to grab our skiing gears and wear our skiing shoes,
before moving to the snowy area. There were a few instructor that guide us on how to wear the skiing gears.
They also divided us into two groups and taught us skiing. The skiing lesson took a few hours.
At 5 pm, we changed our clothes back at the main hall, and went into our rooms. The students were divided
into three rooms. The teachers gave us a few minutes to rest and then told us to gather at the living area
outside the rooms. Each of them gave heart-moving speeches about us, and the whole KDCA ISCEP
programme. They also told us to be ready by 8 tomorrow for breakfast. Then, we went back into our rooms,
had a mini party to celebrate our last night in Korea, and went back to sleep.

Pek : It was the day to say goodbye to our 7-nights-sleeping place filled with wonderful memories which was
the Vella Suite Hotel. We had to move to Daemyung Resort where it was quite far away from Suwon. We
packed our stuff into our luggage and bags and gathered straight away at the lobby. I was quite sad as Vella
Suite had been a great hotel for us where we created memories and bond with each other every single night.
Soon after we had breakfast,we got in the bus and ready to have our 2hours plus journey to Daemyung Ski
Resort. In the bus, everyone were asleep because we enjoyed the whole night before at Vella Suite Hotel since
it was our last night there. After the bus ride, we finally arrived at Daemyung and I was so amazed with the
scenery as almost every surrounding was covered with snow and that was so eye-opening. We got into the
hall and changed our ski outfits. The part that I liked the most was when our ski outfits were so colourful and
everyone was lowkey entertained.
Then, the process to get our equipment and gears were so frustrating as it was heavy and I was really
excited to ski as it was my first time. After we got ready, we were brought to the ski place and it was really a
"wow" experience when you could see everyone was skiing but we had to go through the process of learning
first. Worick, our ski coach really taught us well and I almost mastered the correct way to ski and I appreciate
him so much.
Then, we got to ski for almost 3 hours and had to go back inside as we reached our dinner time. The food
were so delicious and it made me want to have more because I was so hungry after the ski.
Then, we got back in our apartment and we had a walk around the mall nearby our apartment. It was
unexpected when Carl and I got to play pool even though we were at Korea. Soon after, we got back into the
apartment after we bought snacks and drinks. We had a small party where everyone gathered, sang-along,
played games and more exciting activities. I really appreciate that night because I got to talk with them but at
the same time I was sad as it was our last night together in Korea. How I wished we get to stay longer at Korea.
We slept at 3 because we really enjoyed that night and I was really sad even though that night was full of
laughter. I hope to spend more time with them again soon. Goodnight yeurobuns!

Hafeez : It was our 8th day in Korea and also our last day in Suwon. After spending a week in Vella Suite Hotel,
it was really hard for us to leave it as it has a lot of memories when we were staying there. But life must go on
so we packed all our luggage bags back and cleaned the room. Then, we brought our luggage to the lobby and
put it into the bus. Sadly, it was our farewell to the memorable Vella Suite Hotel which we really enjoy ed
staying at.
Today we were going to move to Daemyung Resort where we will going to stay at for our last night in
Korea. The journey took about two and a half hours from Suwon so it would be a long ride. On our way there,
we stopped at a rest area where we could go to the toilet and also buy some stuffs like food, snacks and
drinks. As the temperature was a lot lower there, I prepared myself with a hot Americano to heat myself up.
The wind was really blowing strong it was really cold out there so we got back to the bus as soon as possible.
Before reaching the resort, we came by a restaurant which was the first restaurant we visited in Korea that
didn’t have any chair. So, we had to sit cross-legged while eating. The restaurant served us some kind of
Korean barbeque chicken which tasted amazing and was the reason why our table was the only one that
finished all the food other than the tables beside us.
After arriving at Daemyung Resort, we were told to take our ski clothing to wear as we were going to ski
after. Next, we walked to the Vivaldi Park where we were going to ski. The view of the mountain covered in
snow was really beautiful. Although we were rushing to get all the equipment, it was okay. It was time to ski,
and I was not expecting it to be easier than the ice skating but it was. Our instructor, Hwang was really good at
teaching. After giving me some tips, I tried to ski for the first time. He told me that I did very well and I was
proud of that. It was very cold there and tiring after skiing for a long time. But all and all, I really adore skiing
besides that it is very tiring.
Next, we get back to the resort to get our luggage bags again and were given our room key by the YMCA
stuff Ji Soo. This time all the boys were staying together in one room. When we first stepped into the room, it
was spacious for the seven of us. It had a living room, dining table, kitchen and also two bedrooms. But the
plot twist was, there was no actual bed. But it was not a big deal for us as they still provided us “tatami” which
is like a Japanese styled bed. Me and the boys agreed that all of us would go to sleep in one bedroom.
Before the day ended, all KDCA-ISCEP members were asked to gather at the lounge in front of our rooms.
As it was our last night in Korea, they took the time to give some speech about the trip that nearly coming to
an end. It was really sad hearing all the speech from the teachers but also proud of what we achieved
throughout the trip. We had grew as a family of KDCA-ISCEP which really got my eyes teary. I was really happy
when Teacher Rayner told us that we were going to perform next year for the ISCEP 2020 as the opening
ceremony. It was a really heartwarming night.
As it was our last night in Korea, we planned on doing a gathering in our room for all of the members for
the last time. Everyone was sad but also didn’t want to waste the time from being sad so we enjoyed the night
jamming to some songs, playing some games and also having conversations to each other. As the night fell, we
called our last day a wrap.

Farysha : Woke up early to pack my bag to move to Daemyong. I didn’t eat breakfast because I have a lot to
pack. Like usual we gathered at the lobby and waited for the bus. When the bus arrived we put our luggages
and said goodbye to staff there. It took 2 hours to get there. We then stop by a restaurant and ate lunch. We
ate beef meat and tteokboki. It was really delicious. I ate a lot! After we ate, we went to Vivaldi Skin Resort to
stay there for one night. When we arrived, we put our bag in a hall and we changed to ski clothes. Got our
helmet, hand gloves and ski equipments. It was freezing cold there. It was really hard to walk around with ski
shoes. My feet hurts. It was hard to ski because it was my first time. Then the guide brought us to the top. I
slide down the hill and it was really fun. The air there was also so refreshing. We took a lot of pictures and
videos there. We then ate dinner at the Vivaldi Park. After hours of learning ski, we went back to the resort
and the teachers gave us some free time.

Pupu : We were sleeping soundly when our room bell rang. I bolted out of the bed checked my phone. 9.38
am. We were supposed to be at the lobby by 9.40 am! I woke Siro up and quickly went to the bathroom to
wash our faces and brush our teeth. The bell kept ringing but we were so busy packing our things and getting
ready, that we just ignored it. Thankfully, we already packed all of our things the night before so we got out of
our room just in time. Outside, Fifye was the one ringing our doorbell. They were quite shocked to know that
we just got up.
Of course, we didn’t have breakfast so when we stopped at the R&R, Siro bought me spicy chicken. That
alone made me full so I didn’t eat much during lunch. Finally, we arrived at Vivaldi Park and the temperature
was extremely cold. We took our bags to the main hall and changed our clothes. I wore a blue pair of skiing
gear. It fit me nicely and although it was quite weird at first, I started to like mine because some of them said I
looked cute in it. The shoes were really uncomfortable and my ankle hurts badly, just like the one at the ice
rink. So I changed to a bigger size and it slightly got better.
The first time I had to walk with the skiing gear, it was so hard to move. So the instructor, who was a really
nice guy, showed us how to move uphill using the gear without having to take it off. It was easier as time went
by. When it was my turn to ski, he showed me how to stop and how to speed up. I already saw them did it so I
knew how to do it. I went down smoothly, and stopped with no problem. He was kind of amazed, I guess? He
gave me a highfive after that. I went again a few more times before resting with the others. I liked it very much
because it was much easier than ice skating. However, the faux snow kept slapping my face and it was
freezing, even with the 15000 won gloves.
Siro, Farysha, Dercy, Monda, Sakinah and I were in the same room. We spent our free time laughing in our
room. I guess it was so loud that Katherine and the resort staff went to check our room a few times. Being in
the same room with them was really fun because they kept doing something funny. We also went shopping
with them at the mall below us. We didn’t wear any winter coats so we ran as fast as possible towards to
building door.
Then, we spent the whole night at the room next to ours. We were singing along and playing truth or dare
game. I was afraid to play it because it would cause any secrets to be let out. When we went back to our room
to pack, the others, Sean, Larry and Alter kept visiting our room. At 3 am, Siro and I were the only ones in our
room who hadn’t sleep yet, so we went to Wawa’s room to borrow some pillows. Their room was hectic as
most of them were still awake. Larry even chatted with me while we sat outside the room waiting for Siro. He
was surprisingly friendly. Then, we went back to our room but it was hard to sleep with the noise from next
door.

Siro : 5th December 2019 had arrived. This was our second to last day to be in Korea. It was our last morning
to get up at the hotel, last time to take our breakfast there and gathered at the lobby. On the night before, we
were told to pack all our belongings as we were moving to Daemyung in the morning. We were told to gather
at the lobby later than usual, 9 : 40 a.m. When my roommate and I were still enjoying our sleep, all of a
sudden our door was rang for many times. We got up and were surprised because the time was 9:28. We
probably had poor time management. We rushed to clean ourselves and brought all our belongings out of the
room. We didn't have our breakfast on that day.
Then, all our luggage were loaded into the bus and another one car. We moved to Daemyung in about two
hours. The bus stopped at Gapyeong-gun for ten minutes, some of us went to the toilet and some also bought
some foods there. We continued our journey and stopped at a restaurant to have lunch. I didn't ask for rice
because I was full as I bought some food from Gapyeong-gun.
After we had lunch, we moved to Vivaldi park ski resort. We brought all our belongings from the bus to the
hall where the staffs gave us clothes and we bought new gloves because our gloves were not suitable for ski.
We learned and tried to play ski. For me, it was difficult as I tried it for many times but still failed. The
temperature there was too cold.
After learning for hours, we went back inside the building, and walked to a restaurant. We had dinner and
went back to the hall where our luggage and bags were put. Next, we were given the room's keys . My
roommates for one last night were Aamanda , Dercy , Farysha , Aurora and Sakinah . We cleaned ourselves
and spent our free time shopping at the mall beside the resort.

Kal : We had our last breakfast at Vella Suite Hotel early in the morning. To be honest, I got a little bit
emotional because it was time for us to leave the hotel that we were living in and made a lot of memories in 7
days. We had already packed up our stuffs earlier that night. We finally said our last goodbye to the hotel and
move to Daemyeong Resort.
Before reaching there, we stopped by at a restaurant near to the resort to have our lunch before learning
on how to ski. As soon as we reached there, I was amazed with the scenery there. It was so fascinating to see
the snow on the hill where we would ski.
We changed our outfits to a suitable one specially for ski that was provided by the resort. I was excited
because I always wanted to learn how to ski. It was really fun and not that hard compared to ice skating for
me. I really enjoyed it although it was very cold.
After that, we finally got into our room and my room were shared by all the boy students and it was fun
because we were all friends. On that night, we had a short meeting with the teachers and ISCEP committee
members. It was really emotional because it was the last night we will be at Korea. Then, we went outside to
get some food to have the last small party before leaving Korea. The eighth day was really fun but also had
some emotional moments that I’ll always remember.

Mar : Today was our last day in Vella Suite Hotel. As usual, we had our breakfast first before we went to
Daemyong Resort. It was a long journey that took about 3 hours and most of us usually took a nap in the bus.
The surroundings were getting colder when we were on our way there.
As soon as we arrived, it was so exciting to see the snow and the people that are enjoying playing ski. We
just couldn’t wait to try it. Our ski outfits were very colourful that they remind us of the 90's style. Then, we
were given the ski equipment and it was very heavy to carry. I could feel that my face got cold burn once we
stepped foot on the ski trails. We learned on how to stop our ski before we started to climb the low hills. It
was so hard until I fell a lot of time but I kept trying until I got it because it was so exciting and fun.
After all the fun playing ski, we finally went to our rooms to sort our things. It was a very tiring day so I
decided to just stay in my room after the dinner while all my friends went to the convenience stores to buy
some snacks to eat. To avoid from feeling so lonely, I broadcast a live on Instagram until my roommates came
back. Then, all of us gathered in our room because it was our last night in Korea. We were having so much fun
singing together, played some games such as truth or dare and eat some snacks. It was such a wonderful night
that was full of unforgettable memories.

Day 9 (6 December 2019)

Activities :

1. Continue to learn skiing - Some of us woke up early to have some free time skiing.

2. Move to the airport - We packed our bags and moved to Incheon International Airport to fly back to
Malaysia.

It was our last day in Korea. We woke up early in the morning to wash ourselves and got ready for breakfast.
At 8.30 am, the resort staff rang our bells and told us we were late. So we rushed to go to the cafeteria and
had our breakfast. After we were done, we went back into our rooms, and some of us took the chance to go
for a quick shopping. We then went to the main hall where we put our bags at, and moved them into the bus.
We also spent a few minutes in front of Vivaldi Park main entrance to take some group photos.
Then, we took the bus to the airport. The ride took two hours, so we had a stop at another R&R before
continued to our destination. Once we arrived and checked in our luggage, we had to say goodbye to
Katherine, Mr. La, Ji Soo, and Mira. It was really hard to say goodbye to them, as we really like them. Then,
after all the process was done, we had a free time to explore the airport. However, the airport was really big
so we didn’t get to explore them all.
Our boarding time was 5.40 pm. Once we stepped on the plane, the flight attendants greeted us warmly and
showed us our seats. The flight took approximately 5 hours and we safely landed at Kota Kinabalu
International Airport at 10.40 pm. Once the immigration process was done, we gather at the luggage claim
area to pick up our bags. Then, Madam Flavia gave us a speech before we took one last group photo, and said
our goodbyes to all of the teachers and friends. It was the saddest moment for us to leave them. We then
went outside to the arriving hall, and went to each of our family.

Pek : We woke up quite late than usual because we slept really late last night. We had breakfast at the
cafeteria together and some of us went to ski again after breakfast. But most of us decided to stay at the
apartment and get ourselves great rest. Some of us prepared ourselves such as showered and dressed well,
while some of us packed our stuffs into luggage. When it was sharp 11 o'clock, we gathered at the hall with
our luggage and bags and ready to have our journey back to the Incheon Airport. The journey took us almost 2
hours and plus and everyone were asleep cause it was really a long journey.
When we arrived at the airport, we got our luggage down from the bus and checked in our luggage group
by group. After we finished our baggage check-in, we had photography session with Catherine, Mr Ra and all
the tour guides that had been a really great group of tour guides and really served us well with good services.
We hugged them and some of us cried as it was really sad and we might only meet them next year during
Harvest Festival in May.
Soon after, we walked into the departure hall and sat there while waiting for our flight. Before that, I had a
chance to buy my last batch of souvenirs for my family which was food. Then, we got in our plane and there
goes the 5 hours boring flight. When I was in the plane, so much thoughts going on in my mind as this really
was our last part of ISCEP Programme together. I was sad so I decided to sleep until we arrived at KKIA. Once
we arrived and done with all the immigration checks, we claimed our baggage at the baggage claiming hall and
before we end, Madam Flavia gave us one really last speech.
After the speech, sad moments came too when it was the time for us to say goodbye to each other. We
hugged each other and even all the teachers for guiding us and had been a really great teachers to us. We
really appreciate them and wished that we would meet each other soon. Hafiz and I couldn't resist our tears
and finally cried as it was a really sad moment for us because the 2 months with them when we really got
close was not an easy thing. We went through a lot and finally became "ISCEP FAMILY". I truly love them and
appreciate each one of them. I will always cherish the moments and take it as a really great memories for all of
us. That was the end of our Korea Trip. Coming Soon--Reunion 2020!!

Hafeez : Time had gone so fast, we didn’t realize that it was our last day in Korea. We woke up a little bit late
today and was rushing to have a shower. After that, we packed our bag just in case as we will went back to the
airport today. The schedule was supposed to be us learning ski again but most of the students didn’t want to
as they were very tired.
Some us still wanted to go skiing so they got to change their clothing and we went to Vivaldi Park to have
some breakfast. The main menu contained pork so I chose not to eat but it was okay as I went to buy the
Burger King for breakfast. Because we didn’t go skiing, we had some free time to spend. We killed our time by
walking around the mall that was located underground that connects the place we stay in to the Vivaldi Park.
After some time, we gathered at the lobby with our luggage to get ready to go back to the airport today. As
it was our last day, everyone was not really in the mood so as soon as we get in the bus everyone took a nap
until we arrived at Incheon International Airport. All the boys helped with the luggage so that everything was
going smoothly. Then, we checked in our luggage and pay farewell to the YMCA staff who had been really
helpful throughout the trip which were Mr.Ra, Ms Mi Ra, Ji Soo and also our interpreter, Catherine who had
always been with us from the start of the trip. I really didn’t know what to feel at that time as I had a mixed
feeling because I had to leave Korea with heavy heart but I also missed my parents in the other hand.
As we passed the immigration, we had to walk a long way to our gate which was located at the corner of
the airport. Before boarding, we bought some drinks to enjoy while waiting for the aeroplane. This time the
aeroplane was a lot bigger than the previous one. We had some trouble eating the food that is served but
gratefully we can buy some ramen from the aeroplane to fill ourselves up as it was a four hours journey.
When we arrive in Kota Kinabalu, I started to sweat as I still wore my winter jacket so I took it off as soon
as possible. After getting our luggage, everyone gathered together for the last time. It was a very sad moment
for all of us as we were going to be apart from each other and because we see each other as a family. All the
time that we helped each other, the time that we laughed together and also the experiences that we had been
through together made us closer. As everyone was crying, I couldn’t hold my tears anymore so I began to cry. I
really love this group that I can call “KDCA-ISCEP Family” for all the memories and also for everything.
It was time to go back home to our beloved parents, my brother was already there waiting to pick me up.
On the way back home, I couldn’t help but flashing back to all the moment that I had spent in Korea. I was
truly grateful that I get the chance to join this programme that really had a special place in my heart.<3

Pupu : I slept for 2 hours. Their alarm clocks kept ringing but none of them woke up. I was the first one to get
up and took a shower. As soon as I finished, all of them already woke up. So I got ready early and packed my
bags. At 8.30 am, the resort staff rushed us to the cafeteria for breakfast. They served pork that morning so I
didn’t get to eat much.
Before taking our bags to the main hall, we went for a quick shopping. I bought some food for my family and
head back to our rooms to take our bags. Then, we ate lunch and moved to the airport. Katherine said we
would stop shortly at an R&R but when I woke up, we already arrived at the airport. So I thought it was a fever
dream that I had but Alter told me that we did go there, but I was soundly asleep the whole time. They even
counted the whole people for a few times because they didn’t saw me sleeping there and they thought they
lost a person.
I was so afraid that my bag would be over the weight limit. Thankfully, it only weighed 10kg. I was kind of
confused of where the other 5 kg went. After we arrived at the boarding hall, which took us a lot of time to
reach, Siro and I walked around the airport and went back by 5.20 pm. The sunset was so pretty to be seen at
the horizon. It was as if the sky was saying its last goodbye to us.
Finally we were on the plane. Pek, Monda, Hafiz and I were in the same row. When the food was finally
served, I was really disappointed because it had pork in it. I was really hungry at that time, so Hafiz bought
Shin noodle cups for both of us. The noodle tasted like the best thing ever when you were hungry. I could only
sleep for a short time because the night was still young. So I listened to Spotify while staring at them playing
deck cards. I didn’t get the game at all but they seemed focused. I also have the fear of plane flights so when
the plane had even a mild turbulence, I would clenched my fists and prayed everything was alright. The seat
belts signs that were going on and off for the whole flight weren’t helping either.
At 10.40, we landed safely and my friend helped to carry my carry-on baggage. We arrived at the luggage
claim area and picked up our bags. Thankfully, none of the bags were broken this time. Madam Flavia gave a
very touching speech before we took our last photos. Then, I saw some of us were already crying. I hugged a
few of them before bursting to tears myself, then continued to hug them more. I saw all of the teachers and
staffs, and was very grateful to have them as our guardian during the programme. They were like our mothers
and fathers in Korea. I love my team even more, since they had been a really, really great friends to me. We
practised hard during our two months of training, did our very best in all of our performances, created sweet
memories together, and grew to be a family. It really was a sad moment for me to say my final goodbyes,
without crying like a baby. I am really grateful to the whole KDCA-ISCEP members for giving me this amazing
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be one of the lucky candidates for the programme, fulfilling my dream that I
had been waiting for 8 years. <3
We walked out of the hall to be greeted by our families and went to our separate ways. They might be
away from me, but I won’t ever let them be just a part of my past, as they are my family, and family means
that nobody gets left behind, or forgotten. <3

Farysha : I woke up early that day and realized that it was our last day in Korea. We packed our stuff and got
ready to go to eat breakfast at Vivaldi Park. I didn’t eat much because they served pork, I only ate rice with
kimchi. After we ate, we were supposed to ski but most of us didn’t want to because we all were still tired.
Only teacher Lesly, Alter and Darren went. I regret I didn’t join them since it was my last chance to ski. We
then head back to our room and continued packing and cleaned our room.
After we packed all of our stuff, we put our luggage at the hall and went to eat lunch at the same place
where we had our breakfast. It was getting colder and colder when we went out. I didn’t eat the soup they
gave because it had pork in it, I didn’t eat much. I was not really hungry at that time so it was okay.
After we ate, all of us took picture outside the Vivaldi Park. I was happy that I get to experience skiing. We
then went back to the hall where we put our bag and waited for the bus to come to pick us up. When the bus
arrived, we put our luggage inside the bus with the driver’s help.
We then got into the bus. We rode the bus to the airport. It took long to reach to the airport. It was really
sad that we were leaving. I slept the whole ride because I was really tired. After few hours, we arrived at the
airport. I could see my friends’ sadness on their face. We then took our bag out from the bus and lined up to
put our bag into cargo. Some of us weighed our luggage first before giving it.
After that, it was time to leave the YMCA people that had been guiding us throughout the trip. We were
really sad that time and we hugged each and everyone of them. Some of us cried, I couldnt hold back my tears
when I hugged them. I cried a little. I took pictures with all of them and I couldn’t believe that we were leaving.
We then left with heavy heart. After 5 hours of airplane ride, we arrived at Malaysia. We gathered around at
the airport. Madam Flavia gave a wonderful and touching speech. Some of my friends started to cry again :
( After the speech, we hugged each other and we cried like babies. We then went to our separate ways and
went back home. They are not just normal friends to me, they were my family and family means loving and
supporting one another. Time had went by really fast that it didn’t feel like 9 days. I’m really going to miss the
food, the experience, the laughter with friends and teachers, the rides, and the activities in Korea. Thank you
KDCA for giving me this opportunity to join this wonderful trip.
Siro : Finally the last day had arrived. I finally succeeded to get up early on that day. We cleaned ourselves
and brought our belongings back to the hall where we gathered a day before. All of us students and teachers
were lead by the staffs to walk to the restaurant and had our last breakfast there. I enjoyed the food and tried
to finish it as I had never finish my food for nine days being in Korea. After breakfast, we spent our time in the
mall and bought some foods and souvenirs because those shops were the last location where we could buy
things while two of my friends, Alter and Darren went played ski with teacher Lesly for the last time here.
By 10 a.m., we gathered in the hall, returned all the clothing that we used for ski and pay the gloves that
we took yesterday to Mr La. When everything was done there, we brought all our luggage and bags into the
bus. We then moved to Incheon International Airport that took about two hours long.
It was too sad to know that the time for us to leave Korea had arrived. I was not ready to leave all my
friends and all the sweet memories that I gained with them. I still wanted to have breakfast, lunch, dinner and
spent much free time to laugh, sing and talk with them but I can't do it anymore, the time was over. Things
were just passing by too fast, when we were happy. Nine days were actually long but it didn't seem like that
because I spent it with my lovely ISCEP family.
Our flight was at 6 p.m. and we said goodbye to Mr La, Miss Catherine and all the YMCA'S staffs that had
been helping us all the time when we were there. It was almost 6 o'clock, I walked into the airplane with
Darren and he sat beside me. All of a sudden I feel myself was not well. I decided to eat the medicine that I
brought in my bag so that I will feel better. I slept in the airplane for hours. We finally landed at Kota Kinabalu
International Airport safely around 11 pm.
Many of us couldn’t hide our tears including me. We took our last group photos and were going back to
meet our own families. I was very thankful to KDCA-ISCEP and the teachers for giving me such a wonderful
chance to join this trip to Korea. This trip will be the best trip I had ever joined in my whole life. I hope our
relationship as one family will not be over as this trip was over.

Kal : The ninth day was the last day of the trip. All the joy and experience we went through was finally
coming to an end. We woke up early in the morning to pack our luggage. Then, after we had done packing our
luggage, we went to the hall where we gathered before skiing to gather our luggage before having our last
breakfast in Korea. We had breakfast there and it was decent and I got a little bit emotional because that will
be the last time I will have breakfast with my friends, teachers and the ISCEP committee. I sat down eating
quietly and almost got my tears out without anyone noticing.
After breakfast, we went back to the hall to get our luggage and brought them inside the bus that had
been the transportation to us all the time during our time in Korea. As soon as we got inside the bus, I started
counting all the students one by one for the last time which was both Daphne’s and my job as we are the
leader for the student throughout this programme. We started moving to the airport and I was setting my eyes
to enjoy the last view of Korea through the bus window.
As soon as we reached the airport, we took pictures and even gave Mr Ra, Miss Catherine, Mrs Jisu and
Mrs Mira who had been our guide from the first day as a goodbye. It was sad that we had to leave them as
they had been very nice to all of us all the time.
During the time we waited for our flight, I could see that everyone was excited to meet their families back
in Kota Kinabalu but also sad that it was about time to leave Korea. When we reached KKIA, we listened to the
last speech from Madam Flavia. We took the last photo together and tears began to fell as we hug each other
before leaving each other to continue our own life in Kota Kinabalu.
In this last reflection, i would like to say the biggest thank you to the KDCA for giving me the chance to be
apart of this programme. It felt like it was all just a dream because it was too good to be true and I
experienced a lot of things by joining this programme. I got to know a lot of Korean culture and also had the
best moments in my life. I’ll always remember and cherish the journey from getting to know each other while
practicing the traditional Malaysian dance till the day we gave our last hug to each other while tears falling
down.

Mar : We had been in Korea for nine days and today was the last day of our trip. We woke up and had
breakfast at the cafe. At that time, we had been given the opportunity to ski for the last time. However, only a
few of us went skiing because most of us spent their last day resting. After we were done skiing, we returned
all the ski equipment and return to the hotel to pack our stuffs. We reluctantly went off to the airport after
having our last meal in Korea at the cafe. We took as much pictures as we could with our tour guide and
thanked them for guiding us travelled around Korea.
After 5 and a half hours on plane, we had finally arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Tears
started to fall as we hugged each other for the last time, it was hard to say goodbye, there was a lot of feelings
I felt as I walked out from the airport. At the same time, I felt very sad about losing my beloved dinosaur doll in
Korea. Although our trip to Korea had passed, the memories that we shared and created together will always
be carved in my mind. It was not a long trip, but it was enough for us to spend our time together as friends
and as a family. Not a family by blood, but a family by heart.

GROUP CONCLUSION
Pek : In conclusion, I want to thank to all the KDCA-ISCEP Committee members for giving me a chance to
experience such an interesting programme which is the Cultural Exchange. And I even want to thank them for
sponsoring most of the activities there and I truly appreciate it so much and I do wish more for any
programme that KDCA-ISCEP will offer for all of us that is coming soon. This is truly an amazing experience and
it actually made me a more confident person especially in dancing and communicating with people. Moreover,
it made me set a target as a proud Sabahan, where we should really spread our great culture to the world and
do not get criticized. I hope for better days for all of us and I learned pretty much stuff that made me into a
more disciplined person. That's all from me and once again thank you to KDCA-ISCEP and each one of you that
were involved.

Pupu : This programme had been held annually for over a decade now, with its main purpose; to exchange
and learn others’ cultures and dances. It taught me to understand and respect the Korean cultures and history,
while at the same time, reminding me to appreciate the beauty and the magnificence of our own cultures. I
had been dreaming for this programme since I was 8, after my brother joined it in 2011. Being finally part of
the KDCA-ISCEP programme was surreal and magical for me. The adventure of our 2 months of training and
the 9 days in Korea had given an amazing impact on my life, as it challenged my social and time management
skills, built up my self-confidence, and widen my circle of friends. It taught me true friendship, teamwork,
leadership, trust, and love. I wouldn’t have done it without all the KDCA committee, teachers, staffs, and
coaches who guided us and cared for us, and also all of my beloved teammates who had been treating me as a
family. I will forever cherish this moment. Until our paths cross again. Love, Pupu.

Kal : There is a lot of benefits and experiences that I gained from joining ISCEP 2019 which is organized by
KDCA and YMCA from Korea. ISCEP taught me on how to lead a group of people as I was the student’s co-
leader throughout the programme even though I had never been a leader or co-leader in my life before. This
programme helped me to learn on how to lead and become more responsible than I was before. On top of
that, this programme helped me to get to know Korean culture a lot better during our time in Korea from their
traditional food, costume, instrument, games, song, history and more. Moreover, this programme also made
all of the students including me learned on how to work as a team and improved our teamwork skills. ISCEP is
really a remarkable programme and should continue as long as it can since it is really good, not just to learn
about other country culture but also improve your mentality because it helped me as a stress reliever with joy
and fun with my friends throughout the programme. This programme also made me fulfilled a lot of my
bucket list in life. Lastly, I would like to take the opportunity to say the biggest thank you to the KDCA for
giving me the chance to be a part of this programme. It felt like it was all just a dream because it was too good
to be true and I experienced a lot of things by joining this programme. From ISCEP 2019, I got to know a lot of
Korean cultures and also had the best moments in my life. I’ll always remember and cherish the journey from
getting to know each other while practicing the traditional Malaysian dance to perform at selected Korean
school until the day we gave our last hug to each other as a good bye when it all ended while tears falling
down.

Hafeez : I would like to take this opportunity to thank KDCA-ISCEP from the core of my heart for giving me
the opportunity to participate in this programme. This programme has been really great and will be a
memorable one for me. There is a lot of stuff that I learned from this programme whether it is about our
teamwork, social skills, dancing, singing and most importantly, our traditional culture. It might seems a bit
cliché but after joining this programme, it really made me proud to call myself a Malaysian and of course as a
Sabahan. Besides, it also teaches me on how to work as a team.
On the other hand, I also got the chance to learn about the Korean Culture that I had been interested in for
years,I finally get the chance to practice and to learn more of Korean Language or Hangul. I really enjoy
learning all the new things whether it is about their culture, history and also their country in general. There are
a lot of stuff that really opens my eyes on how to be a person with a manners by learning from the Korean
culture. This program has made my life bucket-list came true as I have been into the Korean Culture since I
was Form 2.
Props to all of the KDCA-ISCEP community that had been working really hard to make this programme a
successful one. I sincerely also would like to apologize for my mistakes and if I have caused any inconvenience
throughout the programme. Once again, just words are not enough to express my gratitude to the President
of KDCA-ISCEP, committee members, teachers and also to my fellow comrades for making everything a blast
and for making this programme a highlights of my year. Kamsahamnida and Saranghae to everyone ! <3
Mar : This program is very suitable for teenagers nowadays. By introducing our own culture to other people
in different countries, we're closing the gap between us and attract their interest to visit our country. Thus
helping our country's economy to increase drastically. In my opinion, such program like this should continue to
show teenagers' hidden talents and give them opportunities to explore country that they never been before. I
enjoyed and satisfied with all the activities that have been done along my trip in Korea , that I can't pick which
activities that is the most fun. Lastly, I would like to thank the KDCA agency, teachers in charge, and coaches
for giving us full support and a chance to perform our traditional dances in Korea. Can’t forget all my friends
for being committed on doing the other task and fully cooperate when performing. Our trip wasn’t that long,
but it was long enough to make us one family by friendship.

Farysha : I’m glad that I joined this programme because this program had taught me a lot. I learned some
Korean words, their cultures and more. I even tried their food, traditional games and clothes. I really cherish
every moment that was spent there. Thank you KDCA for giving me the opportunity to join this trip. Thank you
to coach Azlan and coach Sam for taking your time to teach us every weekend and also thank you to the
teachers and my friends for making this trip a wonderful one. This program should really be continued in the
nearest future.

Siro : This programme has taught a lot for these three months journey. It taught me to be a more confident
and brave person, while gifting me with whole new friends and family that I never thought I would have. I
would like to thank all of the KDCA committee for giving me a chance to experience this wonderful programme
and for granting my lifelong wish to go to Korea, all of the teachers for caring for me and helping to improve
both as a student and a person, and of course all of my beloved teammates that are very kind to me and
treated me as a family. This programme has been a highlight for my year, and I won’t ever forget all of our
adventures, sweet or bitter. This is the greatest and the most amazing way to end this decade. Saranghae all of
you! <3
