In the first place keeping birds/fish captive is not humane.

If some one is advised by an astrologer to keep a fish tank, then it should be kept in the
west.

The tank has to be made of glass [mercury] with water [moon] in it and kept in the west
[10th house, saturn] with fish [saturn] in it. Thus in the final analysis it ends up in Saturn,
mercury, moon together. This makes one wealthy and courageous but ferocious too.

It is advised that a little water be offered to a mango tree to nullify the adverse effects, if
any.
