This document describes the connections between Mobile Money System components and
external systems, and service commissioning procedures.

Privacy Notice
Some functions provided by the product collect certain subscriber data, such as the subscriber
number and consumption records. The subscriber data is used only to locate or rectify faults.
You are obligated to take considerable measures, in compliance with the laws of the countries
concerned and the user privacy policies of your company, to ensure that the personal data of
users is fully protected. For example, you must reclaim the permission when the
corresponding operator's position is changed. The functions require privacy protection
measurements include but are not limited to the following:
 Data backup function
To avoid data change by mistake, which can result in system faults or subscriber data
faults, the product prompts carriers to back up data periodically. The data may involve
subscriber information, such as the subscriber number, account balance, consumption
fees saved in the Oracle database. The backup data can be used only for data recovery,
but not for personal use or other purposes. After the storage period, backup data must be
timely deleted.
 Fault information collection function
To find the fault reasons, necessary service logs may need to be collected, and the logs
may contain subscriber information such as the subscriber number, account balance,
consumption fees. During use, you are advised to use the anonymization tool to hide
subscriber information. When related faults are located, you must delete the logs in a
timely manner.

Huawei support engineers can perform maintenance operations only after being authorized by
the customer, and are forbidden to perform any operations that are not approved by the
customer. In addition, fault-locating data can be transferred out of the customer's network
only when authorized by the customer in strict accordance with local laws and regulations.
After a service is complete, private data must be deleted under the supervision of the
customer.

engineers.

well as the modes for collecting and displaying performance data.

1.1.1 Purposes of and Activities Involved in Performance


Management
Performance management refers to the operation of creating a performance task on the
Element Management System (EMS) to collect performance data of a network element (NE).
Users can obtain the running status and performance data of the NEs.
The purpose of conducting performance management is to collect performance data and
evaluate the usage of network resources (such as physical and logic resources) so that
potential faults can be detected. In addition, network planning, network analysis, and network
optimization can all be used to improve network performance and efficiency, ensuring sound
quality service.
Figure 1-1 shows the process of performance management.

Common activities involved in performance management include:


 Collecting performance data through performance measurement
 Evaluating the system to detect network faults according to network design capacities,
service provision capabilities, and actual network conditions
 Diagnosing network problems based on performance data, configuration data, and alarm
data
 Planning and optimizing the network according to the troubleshooting scheme

1.1.2 Mode for Displaying Performance Data


The Network Management System (hereinafter referred to as the Business Control
Management (BCM)) monitors and displays performance data in various modes. Figure 1-2
shows the mode for displaying performance data.

The performance data can be displayed in the following modes:


 On the BCM client: The BCM monitors and tracks down the key performance indicators
(KPIs) in real time. Any trends involved in the KPIs can be displayed either in
histograms or in curve diagrams. Users can query the original KPI data on the BCM
client.
 On the Report server: Daily and monthly reports of performance data can be generated
on the Report server according to the requirements of carriers. The data can be displayed
in pie charts or histograms.
 On the Superior NMS (Network Management System): The superior NMS obtains
performance data from the BCM server. This allows carriers to customize performance
data reports on the superior NMS and have its data displayed in diagrams.

The superior NMS displays the performance data only in the mode supported by the superior NMS.

Measurement Index
The measurement index defines what to measure.
The measurement index is called measurement entity in Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd
(hereafter referred to as Huawei) Man-Machine Language (MML) specification.
The measurement index contains the name and unit of the measurement index.
One measurement index can belong to only one measurement unit.

Measurement Index ID
A measurement index ID identifies a measurement index in the BCM. When processing
performance data, the BCM saves the performance data in the database or in the performance
file according to the measurement index ID.

Measurement Unit
For the management of great amount of measurement indexes of the system, the measurement
types can be classified into multiple measurement units. Each measurement unit contains
multiple measurement indexes related to one system function.
Measurement Unit includes Measurement Index, Measurement Object, Granularity Period,
Sampling Interval.

Measurement Unit ID
A measurement unit ID identifies a measurement unit in the BCM. The BCM manages the
measurement indexes contained in a measurement unit according to the measurement unit ID.

Measurement Object
The measurement object defines who to measure.
In the performance management, the measurement object refers to the entity or combination
of the physical or logical resource, such as the service key in the intelligent network and
office direction.

Granularity Period
The granularity period refers to the time interval between the successive two times of the
collection of performance data by the BCM from the NE.
The granularity period is called measurement period in Huawei MML specification.
The unit of the granularity period is minute.

Sampling Interval
When calculating the performance of certain measurement indexes in a granularity period,
users need to collect performance data at a specified frequency within this period. The interval
between two successive performance data collections is called a sampling interval.
A sampling interval specifies the interval for collecting performance data of an NE. It must be
less than or equal to the granularity period and can be divided by the granularity period.
For example, if the granularity period is set to five minutes and the sampling interval is set to
one minute, the CPU usage is collected every minute. In this case, the average CPU usage is
the average of the five collected CPU usage values.

Statistical Task
A statistical task is a strategy for collecting performance data, which includes the
measurement unit, measurement object, granularity period, and sampling interval.
Users can create a statistical task on the BCM and specify the measurement unit,
measurement object, and granularity period. The BCM then collects performance data
according to the settings.

Threshold Alarm
If the alarm threshold is set on the BCM, an alarm is generated when the measurement index
exceeds the threshold.

KPI
KPIs reflect current network and service qualities. By monitoring KPIs, users can obtain the
current network and service qualities in real time.
