Reflective Essay Two

I consider myself an individual who constantly invests time in improving academically,

professionally and personally. Self-reflection has taught me to identify, modify and value

personal skills and abilities. The time I have spent thus far, has helped me evolve into the person

I am today. Whenever I am about to start a new project, class or task I always try to take a

moment to appreciate and praise myself. It seems strange, but this tactic has helped me excel in

whatever I put my mind to without changing who I am.

In healthcare, I plan on applying the same tactics. As an immigrant I value the importance

of diversity and inclusion. I am proud of speaking the top two languages that are spoken in our

country, I consider this an asset; minority health is a crucial piece of the healthcare industry. We

need more individuals in the healthcare industry who are passionate, knowledgeable and invested

in the wellbeing of minorities. I am an individual who arose from humble and struggling

beginnings. I’ve lived many of the challenges that most underserved communities face. I am not

afraid to speak for those who don’t have a voice, I consider all these assets that I plan on utilizing

in the health education industry. These assets will not only help represent the community but also

gain their trust and respect.

I hope to remain genuine and one day become a respected public health leader who makes

a difference in minority health. I am invested in ensuring that their issues aren't just heard but
improved. I hope to continue to educate others in healthcare about the importance of not only

minority health but the importance of being culturally and linguistically competent.
