Sir, UGC is a national body for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of University Education. It serves as a coordinating body between the Union,
State Govts. and the institution of higher learning. For the purpose of performing its function under the Act 12(h), the commission collects the information on all such matters
relating to University Education in India & other countries as it thinks fit and make the same available to any University. Numbers of Doctorate Degrees awarded & the numbers of
Degrees awarded in MPhil are the two core indicators to judge the status of Research & other developments in higher education. It helps us understanding the progress, trend and
quality of higher education over a period of time. The information especially the current one is very much in demand. It facilitates us in answering different RTI, PQ & other
queries as asked from time to time from different govt. and non-govt. agencies
Placed below is the format for collecting the number of Doctorate Degrees awarded & the number of Degrees awarded to M Phil candidates during the year 2008-09. The
information is asked faculty wise on page 1 whereas on page 2-subject wise breakup of ARTS, SCIENCE & OTHERS faculties only is to be given. OTHERS faculty includes
miscellaneous subjects like Social Work, Library Science, Journalism, Music, Dance/Drama, Physical Education, Tourism etc. If you have Nil information even then please sent
the Proforma back, mentioning ‘NIL INFORMATION’. The filled in proforma may please be sent in a fortnight of receiving this letter to the undersign by name.
