A Guide to the Scholarship Program for ASEAN Countries

Recognizing the importance of internationalization, Chulalongkorn University has taken a


leading role in implementing interactive collaboration with the international community. In order to
further develop academic cooperation between Thailand and its ASEAN Countries, the University
has established a “Scholarship Program for ASEAN Countries” to provide academic assistance to
international students from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines,
Singapore, Brunei, and Vietnam to pursue their studies at Chulalongkorn University at graduate level.

Term of Scholarships :
Master’s degree scholarship
Two years (not over 2 years, starting from January 2019 to December 2020)
Doctoral degree scholarship
Three years (not over 3 years, starting from January 2019 to December 2021)

Provisions of the Scholarships :


The scholarships will cover the following :
1.Economy class round-trip ticket (actual paid but not more than 8,500 baht) to and from
designated capital cities or principal cities.
2.Tuition Fees (tuition fees for faculty/special fees by the program are excluded)
3.Stipend and accommodation in the amount of 16,000 baht/month.

Conditions of Scholarships:
1.The scholarship period cannot be extended.
2.The recipients are not permitted to postpone a period of the scholarship
acceptance as proposed by Chulalongkorn University.
3.The recipients are not permitted to accept any employment in Thailand during the
term of their scholarships.

Eligibility of Applicants :
1.Applicants must be an international graduated students from ASEAN Countries.
Researcher, academic staff or a faculty member who will return to teach/work at their home
universities after graduation from Chulalongkorn University is preferred.
2.Applicants must have completed Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree as appropriate
in related fields. Certificate’s Degree and Official Transcript are required.
3.Applicants must have a grade point average not lower than 2.75 for undergraduate,
and not lower than 3.25 for graduate.
4.Applicants’ age must be less than 35.
5.Applicants must have a good command of English. A minimum TOEFL score of 500
or 173 Computer-based or IELTS score of 5.0 is required.
6.Applicants must be in good health.
7.Applicants must not be recipients of other types of scholarships.

Documents Required for Application :


1.Completed application form with a 3 cm x 4 cm size photograph.
2.Curriculum Vitae
3.Certificate of Graduation
4.Transcript of Academic Record of the last educational institution attended.
5.Photocopy of passport.
6.Two recommendation letters from the Head, the Director, the Dean which the
applicant belongs.
7. Physical examination certificate from a hospital in candidates’ home countries.

Application Procedures :
1.Applicants must send the completed application form and relevant documents
directly to the faculty/program of their choice. The applicants should send the document to the faculty
of their choice before the scholarship university deadline.

2. Applicants must be screened and recruited by the faculty/program of their choice
before being sent to the Office of Academic Affairs, Chulalongkorn University and the eligible
application documents from the faculty of they were screened must arrive at Academic Affairs office
not later than November 15, 2018. Neither personal nor directly applications from applicants to the
Office of Academic Affairs will be accepted.

** The application date and selection schedule of the applicants has set by each of the faculty/ program.
The applicants should send the application form and relevant documents to the faculty/program
at least 2 weeks before the University deadline.
