Description of Art Elements
Consider the significant aspects of the art elements that are present and describe them.
Answer using 2-4 sentences per element.

a. Line
is an element of art defined by a point moving in space. It is probably the most
fundamental of the elements of design as it is usually the starting place for much of
artistic creation. Lines can be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, or curved. They can be any
width or texture. And can be continuous, implied, or broken.

b. Color
is the element of art that is produced when light, striking an object, is reflected back to
the eye: that's the objective definition

c. Shape
is an enclosed space, a bounded two-dimensional form that has both length and width.
Shapes are one of the seven elements of art, the building blocks that artists use to
create images on canvas and in our minds

d. Space
as one of the classic seven elements of art, refers to the distances or areas around,
between, and within components of a piece. Space can
be positive or negative, open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-
dimensional. Sometimes space isn't explicitly presented within a piece, but the illusion of
it is.

e. Texture
is the perceived surface quality of a work of art. It is an element of two-dimensional and
three-dimensional designs and is distinguished by its perceived visual and physical
properties.

f. Form
as an element of art is three-dimensional and encloses space. Like a shape,
a form has length and width, but it also has depth

Analysis
Discuss how the artist manipulated the art elements to create the following principles. Four
(4) sentences maximum for each principle.

1. Movement
In this art, the movement is the pope itself. And it focuses in the mouth of the point
because this is where the focal point pointing.

2. Unity/Harmony
For me, the unity in this artwork was the colors. Because the color use in the art, it gives
the meaningful impact to the audience.

3. Variety
The variety of this painting was the colors. Like I said, it gives a significant impact to the
audience.

4. Balance
There is no balance in this artwork. More on the artist use the triangular method to
express the mot of the pope

5. Emphasis
The color gives emphasis to the artwork as a disturbing piece.

6. Contrast
Its like the emphasis, the colors give a better outcome for the outwork. On what the artit

Interpretation
Four (4) sentences maximum for each principle.

1. What do you think the artist was trying to say though this art piece?
I think the artist trying to convey that even in the religious sector there is an evilness. We
can say that in the mouth of the pope, it is not usual for a pope to have a mouth like that.
Its like a screaming demon. And for the color selection, the artist chose the colors so that
in can emphasis the dark ambience.

2. Why do you think the artist created this artwork?

For me, the artist created this artwork to show that even the most holy human can have
a sin. Because they are also a human being, they can commit sins.

3. Describe any additional meanings you think the artists might have intended.
I think the artist also tries to tell as the demonic sides of the pope.

4. What feelings do you have when looking at this artwork?

Very ironic, a servant of god will never be seen as demonic as this artwork.

5. Do you think there are things in the artwork that represent other things - symbols?
Colours? Objects? What?

I think the artist trying to convey was illustrated as a whole in the painting. There is no
specification that gives a certain representation.
