FLUSHING SPECIFICATIONS
1. FLUSHING

1.1 General On behalf of the flushing procedure the pipes and hoses are coupled to a circulair
system and cleaned by pumping through and filtering the flushing fluid.
In principle, the flushing fluid will be used afterwards as the first fill of the system.
Contractor must have a separate flushing gear available, appropriate for the job.
It is not allowed to use the pumps of the new hydraulic system for flushing without
previous permission form Doedijns BV.

1.2 Flushing conditions

A. Before starting the flushing, Doedijns BV. provides a flushing plan for approval.
In this document supplier indicates clearly the composition of the flushing circuit,
as
Well as the diameter and length of the pipe lines.
The parameters of the flushing unit must also be mentioned in the plan.

B. The flushing speed be at least 7m/sec.

C. The flushing speed applies to all assembled components of the string to be flushed.

D. The temperatur of the fluid must be higher than 50°C but not higher than 65°C.

E. Before the actual flushing start the cleanliness of the oil in the tank must meet the
level of target.

F. Flushing filters must be provided with reliable σ P indicators and by-pass valves.
The filterrating must meet the specified contamination level.

G. Flushing should take place with intervals i.e. after each hour a 5 minute stop.

H. The minimum flushing time is:

- 2.5 hours for steel pipes up to a length of 50 meters;

- 1.5 hours for stainless steel pipes up to a length of 50 meters;
- For every extra 25m., the flushing time should be prolonged one half hour.

I. The flushing can be stopped if, after the minimum flushing time, the specified
contamination level is achieved.

J. The cleanliness is determined on the basis of a fluid sample.

K. The flushing fluid should contain not more than 2% of water and may not be
polluted by chemical agents.

FLUSHING SPECIFICATIONS
1.3 Determination of the cleanlines according to ISO 4406 : 1999

The following levels of cleanlines are required:

a. normal systems i.e. per 100 ml (ISO 4406 ± 1999 class 19/17/14)
(NAS 1638 class 8) (SAE AS4059 : D – CLASS 9)
- 2500 – 5000 particles > 04 micron
- 0640 – 1300 particles > 06 micron
- 0080 – 0160 particles > 14 micron

b. systems wich include servo valves i.e. per 100 ml (ISO 4406 ± 1999 class 15/13/10)
(NAS 1638 class 4) (SAE AS4059 : D – CLASS 5)
- 160 – 320 particles > 04 micron
- 040 – 080 particles > 06 micron
- 005 – 010 particles > 14 micron

1.4 Sampling during flushing procedures

1.4.1. Sampling location:

- The sampling point is always located at the end of flushing circuit, but before the
Flushing filter.
- The sampling point must be located directly on the pipe (without connectors)
- The sampling point consists of a quick disconnect coupling, type XX64 037 35,
make Millipore.

1.4.2. Sampling:
- Sampling must be done by means of cartridges, type MAWG 037 PO make
Millipore.

1.4.3. Sample analysis:

Two methods are possible: analysis by an external laboratory or by Doedijns BV.
and parallel sample analysis by the external laboratory. See procedure 2.

1. Sampling and Flushing procedure 1

All samples will be offered to the supervising laboratory.
The analysis must take place immediately after offering the sample.
After approval is obtained the flushing procedure may be finished.

2. Sampling an Flushing procedure 2.

Doedijns BV. takes and analyses the samples.
When Doedijns BV. judges the result as “good”, a second, final sample will be
taken. The final samples will be offered in one series to the supervising laboratory.
A random check on the offered samples, minimal 3, will be performed; if the results
are Not satisfying, all final samples will be checked.

1.4.4. Cleanlines:

Cleanlines will be determined according to the “Compar” method.

1.4.5. Sampling methods (for components, page 4)

- Place a filter cartridge in the cartridge holder.

Keep the closing caps.

- Screw the cover with the three way valve on the house

- Turn the three way valve in the flushing position (horizontal)

- In case the sampling point has not been used for a long time, flush circa 0,5 L.
fluid in order to clean it.

- Screw the sampling bottle on the house.

- Connect the sampling equipment to the sampling point (see 1.4.1.)

- Let flow 200 ml. Fluid through the circulation into the sampling bottle.

- Turn the three way valve into the sampling stand and let flow exactly 100 ml. fluid
through the filter cartridge.

- Turn the three way valve in the flushing stand again (after 100 ml.) and disconnect
the
Sampling equipment before the bottle flows over.

- Take the cartridge out of the house and close it with the clean caps, without
emptying
the cartridge.

- Deliver the cartridge for analysis

- Clean the sampling equipment and put it away.

(Never put a cartridge in the sample equipment long beforehand).
