Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD, is a significant mental impairment for the Social

Security Administration, SSA, the disability community, and the health care system

stakeholders. My score was 34 out of a possible 50. Ratings between 33-50 range suggest

Possible causes of the score, according to Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, include minds that are

wired to science since autism is linked to scientific talent (https:m.youtube.com/watch?

v=LYys7rhRcDU&feature=emb_title). However, it is not the case that all scientists are autistic,

but as a group, on average, scientists have a higher number of autistic traits (https:

youtube/PjE_yaJjXE8). Also, Other causes of the score are; interest in systems more broadly

like natural systems such as weather or mechanical such as care engines. Additionally, it can be

caused by genetics, which means that people with autism genes may not be autistic but may

possess an ability to understand how systems work.

ASD has contributed to continuous growth in the rates of disability. For instance, between 2004

and 2013, ASD and other developmental disorders have increased more than any other mental

disorder. The growth rate tendency of ASD in children is steady with the trends in the

morbidities evaluations of ASD in the general population. There is an increase in the number and

periodicity of ASD diagnosis and identification among the United States' children. Based on the

current prevalence estimates of ASD, there is significant evidence that the general under-18

population ranges from 1.5 to 2 percent ("Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental

Disorders"). A possible explanation for the increasing prevalence of ASD across and within

populations is that an increase in ASD diagnosis rates may not attribute to an actual increase in

the incidence of ASD because of various factors. Moreover, the increased number of ASD rates

is due to the growing awareness of autism.
