our new teachers every two

collaboration and to offer
support. I also help run
meetings with all the PLC
leads so we can collaborate
between departments and
share ideas. 9.21.18

-I interact with our families

in a number of ways
including attending field
trips, over the phone, and
school events like our
festivals that happen three
times a year. Despite being
an online school, we still
prioritize seeing our
families in person and
making a positive
impression on them. I
strive to always remain
professional and positive
through all
communications, even the
tough conversations.
5.7.2019

Families are such an

important part of
running an online,
independent study
program. Our school aims
to get parents involved
on many different levels
including hosting Q&A
sessions, parent message

groups. I also always
welcome parents to my

homeroom teacher. I also
encourage
communication between
myself and families.
11.5.2019

Communication with
families is an essential
part of our program.
Because students are
working from home, I
think I interact and talk
with caretakers more
often than I might
normally. Caretakers are
encouraged to call me
with questions or just to
check-in on their
students learning.
Caretakers also have a
log on to our LMS
where they can check
their students work and
contact teachers.

This is difficult for us

because my students live
all over the state of
California. However, I
have found resources for
families and students by
searching for libraries or
other resources that are
near them. Additionally,
when planning field trips
in my area I always search
for available resources and
events that will benefit our
families. 9.21.18

-This is a challenging
element to progress in
being in an online school.
However, I do plan Field
trips that are local to some
of my students.

I have also looked for local

resources like libraries for
some of my families who
need internet access.

I also have been making

lessons local to California
and allowing for students
to share about their
specific communities
during my LiveLesson
time.
5.7.2019

This still remains to be a
challenging area for me
because my students live
all over the state of
California and sometimes
internationally for
temporary periods of time.
When issues have arisen, I
do my best to involve a
student’s counselor who
usually have a better idea
of local resources. We also
all utilize the internet to
help families research
programs and resources
that would benefit them.
Sometimes families just
need help finding
resources close to them.
11.5.2019

Involving community
resources is very difficult
because my students live
all over the state of
California. However, I do
support families when they
need letters of
recommendations for their
students participating in
local community
programs. I also have
helped families find local
libraries and other
resources when they need
help accessing technology.

that make our curriculum. I have met with people
from our curriculum team to help them understand
our school and what we need from them to do our
jobs better. I also have applied for a masters program
for next year to keep learning and growing! 11.5.2019

I have really enjoyed being in a leadership position at my

school because I feel I can help be a positive role model
and guide my school in a positive direction. I like getting
to supervise other teachers because I get to support them
in their role and help them reflect on their practice.
Having a high sense of integrity is needed to work for an
online school because we do not see each other in person.
Everyone pulls their weight at my school and ultimately
that is helping our students succeed. 4.10.2020
