1 Important Aspect of Shetu Group

Shetu Group deals in pesticides, fertilizer and Seed sectors. Now days
Pesticides sector is one of the rapidly growing sectors in Bangladesh,
Bangladesh is an agro-based country. About 65% people directly and
indirectly related in this sector. Though the country is small but its
population growth is high. For growing high population demand for food is
increasing. But agricultural land is not increasing. In this situation farmers
can produce their good products by using Pesticides, fertilizer and seed.
In Bangladesh its importance is very high.
According to Pesticides, Seed & Fertilizer Association Statistics, total sales turn
over of this sector is about 5,000 cores. About 100,000 employees are working
in this sector.
Since this sector is trying to fulfill the one of the basic needs of human being but
there is lack of research, managerial skills, in quality control, knowledge of time
value etc.

2.1 Background of Shetu Group

The Managing Director of the company Mr. Mohmmad Samsul Huda established
Shetu Pesticides Ltd. in 1984. Presently Shetu Group consists of three
companies. Theses are:
 Shetu Pesticides Ltd (SPL): Function of SPL is manufacturing,
formulation, repacking of pesticides.
 Shetu Marketing Company (SEMCO): Marketing, distribution and sales of
Pesticides & seed.
 Naafco (Pvt.) Ltd.: Marketing, distribution and Sales of imported &
formulated NPKS fertilizer.

2.4 Milestone of Shetu Group in 23 years:

1984: Established the factory of Shetu Pesticides Ltd.

1985: Establishment of NAAFCO
1987: Commencement of production of formulated liquid and granular
fertilizer.
1989: Registration of Pilarcron and its marketing as first pesticide.
1990: Establishment of Shetu Marketing Company (SEMCO)
1991: Registration and marketing of 7 nos of pesticides
1994: Completion of 10 years of Shetu Group.
1996: Establishment of DK Packing
1999: Group’s corporate office was shifted to its own premises and
commencement of use of NPKS.
2002: Installation of Plants for Carbufuran (Forwafuran 5G & Pillarfuran 5G) in
our own factory.
2003: Started Seed Business.
2004: Successfully completion of 20 years of the group and holding one of the
biggest Dealers Conference in the Country
2007: Today we are remembering respectfully 23 years of our success and
noble deeds contributed by our 400 Dealers and about 5000 Retailers

2.7 Quality Policy

 To ensure consumer’s satisfaction by producing safe and intrinsic quality
products adoption of modern processing technology and procuring quality
raw materials from selected source.
 Establishing quality objectives by implementing and maintaining a
documented effective Quality Assurance System That complies with the
requirements of Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and Pesticides Wing,
Khamarbari, Farmgate.

2.8 Manufacturing Unit

Shetu Group’s manufacturing Unit is located at Jadurchar, Hemayetpur, Savar.
Premises of the factory now 4.25 acres. Shetu Group’s manufacturing unit is
equipped with modern machinery. Their technical capabilities in processing,
post-harvest handling, maintaining Good Manufacturing practice (GMP) and
modern technology have given them decisive edge in the industry. Sourcing of
high-quality raw materials is conducted mainly from locally and different parts of
the world for ensuring the right variety with highest quality. The raw materials are
preserved in a well-organized storage.

2.9 Distribution
Shetu Group is maintaining a strong distribution network in the country. At
present a total no. Of 400 highly experienced Distributors & 5,000 retailers are
engaged to market their products. Shetu Group distribution their products by 14th
depot. Depot list are given below.
Central Depot : Jadurchar, Hemayetpur, Savar, Dhaka.
