• During the degree, have attended the Forrest Hill event, ‘Create Day’ held by CEEC of
Lancaster University and joined a certain amount of workshops related to employability.

Experience

2010 to 2011 Mentor in a ‘Mentor Program’

• Working as a mentor for 2+2 students from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in a
‘ mentor program’, responsible for arranging meetings once a week with the 2+2 students
to share experiences on study and resolve some general questions on daily issues during
their first Michaelmas term at Lancaster University.

• Get the opportunity to work with senior personnel, report feedbacks and problems
unsolved from the students to the founder of the program. Time management skills and
effective communication skills needed during the program as well as problem solving
ability and responsibility.

A member of LUVU and SIFE

• Worked in the Green Lancaster union to get engaged in environmentally focused


volunteer Projects such as Campus Conservation Team and some one-off events, building
up skills and knowledge about planning and organizing, understanding of the significance
of environment protection deepened.

• Will work in the Re-Cycle project organized by the SIFE, through which I will need to
plan for this scheme within a team including contacting people or manufacturers who are
willing to sell or donate second-hand bikes, setting the price and marketing this re-cycle
idea. Planning skills and communication skills will be strengthened.

2009 to 2010 Cashier in summer

• Part-time cashier in family-owned business for about one month. Mainly note down the
food and drinks consumed and checked the bills. Using Excel to record inventory, cost
and sales of the business. Develop numerical skills and Excel application and how a
business in the food industry is run as well.

Further Skills

A member of the basketball team of Chinese Scholars and Students Association (CSSA) from
2009 to 2010 and A member of the Asian Basketball team from 2010 to 2011.
