Hello Everyone,

My name is Rachel Donaldson and I am Junior Exercise Science major. Last semester I was a
Biology 102 SI leader for the student success center and absolutely fell in love with it and
ultimately inspired me to run for this position. I’ve always been naturally inclined to want to
help others do well in their classes so I think it would be a perfect fit for me. If I were to be
elected I would definitely want to keep the points system Ellie created because I believe it
played a huge role in motivating everyone. My goal as academic chair would be to not only
continue to motivate us academically but also professionally. There are 3 things I would like to
implement to achieve that:
1. I would love to see a cabinet designated for test files. I know we have them on gin but it
is very tedious work trying to upload them so having a physical test filing bin would
allow for tests to be available immediately.
2. Secondly, I would like to change study Sunday’s. From what I can tell our chapter
collectively does not seem to have a lot of interest in them and I understand because I
have a hard time studying with other people around me. So my proposal would be to
turn those Sundays into professional Sundays where the focus of them could be on
resume writing, internship, and linked in profile building. We have some very driven girls
in our chapter who have gone on to land big time internships, jobs, and leadership
positions and I think it would be very beneficial to have those girls come and give advice
to our younger members. I also have connections within the student success center that
could come and talk either at chapter or at one of the socials about taking out student
loans, credit cards, or other important skills we all might need to know.
3. Lastly, I think implementing a tutoring system within our chapter would be beneficial.
My idea was to have something similar to the SI position. Basically, if you have received
an A in a class that is difficult for others, you could sign up at the beginning of the
semester to be some type of peer tutor. I know we have this as a sisterhood point
currently but I think labeling this is an actual leadership position could help our sisters
highlight their contribution within phi mu on future applications.

Overall, I want us to be able to look up Phi Mu’s on google one day and see members from our
own chapter on the list of high achievers. I want us to be the CEO’s, philanthropic leaders,
teacher, and doctors of the world so we can represent phi mu as more than just a sorority with
number 1 GPA.
