    ICOM IC-SM2/SM-6 Desktop microphone wiring

    I have dug up some info about an old Icom desktop mic.


    The IC-SM2 was produced by Icom in the late 70's, and are similar to the SM-6 desktop microphone that Icom produces today.
    I recently got hold of such a mic. I looked everywhere on the Internet for any info on the wiring etc. ,without finding anything.
    After a while I contacted Swedish Radio Supply, and they sendt me a wiring diagram and some info on how to modify it for
    higher output.
    Roy Nordqvist at SRS said that this was nescessary because of the low output that this mic. have.

    I wired it up for my Icom IC-746, after having done the modification.
    It works great! It has lots of output, sounds great, but some reports that the audio tends to be quite sharp (a good DX mic).
    So if someone has such a mic, please try it out on your new Icom

    radio.
