Space Questions and Skype

1. Work on answering your questions the best you can on space.

2. If you are done with your first answers, you should use the links at the bottom of the page to see if
you can figure out the actual answers. Don't write anything but you can take notes on a separate word
document.
3. Today some of you will begin the process of putting the answers to your questions in blue

Here is how to answer the questions the first time.

Questions

1. There is a disagreement with two students on how many planets are in the solar
system. Student A claims there are 8 planets and Student B claims there are 12
planets. What is some evidence to support each claim?
a. Answer: I know that student A is thinking of the normal planets, but I don't know
how student b can be thinking of 12 planets.
b. Answer: I now know that student A is thinking they are right because . . . I
can also see how student B is right because some planets . . . .
c. Answer: I know that student a is correct because if you count the most popular
known planets in our solar system, mercury, Venus, earth, mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus, and the dwarf planet Pluto, you count 8 planets.
d. Answer: At first, I thought student a was correct, but now I know that both a and
b is correct. I know that student a is talking about The Planets in our solar system,

a. Answer: I think the Planet would be Pluto because that is the smallest planet.
3. How does the mass of our planet compare to the other inner planets?

Answer: I don’t know how the mass of our planet compare to the other inner planets.

Answer: At first, I thought Mercury would make you weigh the least because it is the smallest
planet. But now I know that Mars is correct because it is less dense than Mercury even though it
had a bigger diameter.

Answer: At first, I didn’t know much about this, but I know that Venus is smaller than
Earth, making earth #1

4. Grumbles claims that it is colder during the winter because Earth is farther from the
sun. Provide evidence to prove him right or wrong?
