1. Product Introduction

1.1 Product Description

UCS1 uses the latest 300DPI technology in Thermal Transfer

printing. And it is designed with a unique ribbon drive mechanism and

printhead control mechanism for easy operation and reliability.

UCS1 can print date code, barcode, both English & Chinese

characters and graphic to satisfy all printing needs.

UCS1 can easily replace conventional Hot Stamp Printing or ink

roll printing.

It can be used on both continuous and intermittent mode of

operation. Therefore, it can be used on horizontal, vertical and also

auto labeling machine.

2. Operation Safety

2.1 Error Indication

Before Operating UCS1, please take note of the following safety

precautions.

Note the following safety instructions before operating UCS1.

Maintenance and repair work must be conducted by a trained

personal. Trained personal refers to a person that has undergo

proper technical training including thermal printing training program,

with the necessary experience in operating the machine and

understand the operating safety hazard.

Before attempting to repair, ensure that the printhead power is

switched off and power cable disconnected from the power source.

The machine must be away from any moving actuator or parts before

servicing.

Before connecting the air supply to the machine, ensure that the

pressure gauge is closed and the pressure indicator read zero.

The control panel must be mounted at a comfortable height to

the operator and also facing the operator.

Ensure clean hands when operating the machine.

Ensure that air line and power line is connected properly, lines

not entangle to other machine and take note of safety when

2-1
Section 2 Operation Safety

installation.

Using in-correct ribbon will damage the machine, and will not be

cover under the warranty. Please use ribbon from approved supplier.

2.2 Safety Precaution

This chapter covers the operation and its respective safety

requirements.

Comply with Electrical Regulation, all electrical wiring and

connection must comply with local regulation.

In no circumstances should the safety indication and label be

covered, and do not install the machine in a safety hazardous

environment.

To ensure the machine operated normally and safely, only use

spare parts supply by the factory.

Section 3 Installation

3.2 Installation Requirement

Personal requirement: UCS1 site installation requires personal

trained by the factory, if installation is done with a un-trained personal,

warranty will be void.

Site requirement: Power 220-240VAC or 110VAC, +/-10%

50-60Hz

Clean and Dry Compress air in 4mm pipe

Pressure 6Bar

Operating Temperature 0-40 ºC

Humility 0-90%

Note: When operation temperature is low, the first few prints

might be affected, print quality will improved after some time.

3-2
Section 3 Installation

3.3 Mounting Bracket Installation

Mounting design and installation is subjected to site condition,

operation requirement or packaging machine type. This is to ensure

the best result in term of print and operation, therefore please contact

your local agent for detail.

Shanghai Yanjie can provide standard L-bracket (Intermittent

Bracket) with full-width platen for UCS1’s installation.

For the best print result, please ensure that the print gap
3-3
Section 3 Installation

between the print head and support rubber base be between 1 to

3mm.

Drawing below illustrated the correct print head mounting

position, please ensure mounting is within the range when

installation.

print head movement range print area to edge

Print direction print head width

print width to edge distant

Print Area

To protect the printhead, before an UCS1 coder’s incasement, we

will make the printhead’s carriage in a safety position. We will adjust

the cylinder screw and make the printhead little higher than the

bottom side of the back plate.

3-4
Section 3 Installation

So, During a new coder’s installation, maybe you will find the gap

between printhead and the substrate is too big. You can adjust the

cylinder screw to make the printhead little down to provide a good

gap. We recommend the gap should be less than 3mm.

It’s very important to ensure the printhead is square to the platen

/ roller during the coder and bracket’s installation.

3-5
Section 3 Installation

3.4 Signal Line Connection

Power switch, printhead voltage adjustment knob and printbody

power cable connector are on the rear of the controller.

Printhead knob is used to adjust the pirnthead voltage. All the

voltage levels are in safety limited.

All the connectors of printbody are on the side plate. They are

printer power connector, output connector, input connector and 4mm

air pipe connector. And the connector plate can be changed from

left side to right side easily.
