Lifelong Wellness Reflection

One of the takeaways that I got from participating in the Fitness for life class is that I

learned that it is essential to set smart goals. Setting smart goals that are specific, measurable,

attainable, realistic, and include time for each them, they will drive me to improve and have a

direction for success and see results. For example, at the beginning of the class when we start

setting our general goals, I was thinking why we need to do all this general goals like

cardiorespiratory, muscular strength endurance, muscular flexibility and body composition, if

all of them look the same thing to me, but at the end of the semester I figures out that they

weren’t the same, also that we need to have variation in our goals so we don’t get bore doing the

same thing, over and over again, and have better results. I also gain knowledge about how to

prevent cardiovascular disease and how to manage stress. As we see in our class that there are

physiological changes caused by stress response and that there is different reaction to the same

stressful situation that is called personality behavior patterns, here is where I find out what kind

of personality and behavior I have.

I will use my new knowledge acquired in this class to continue improving my exercise

routines, as well as improving my health and nutrition to maintain a healthier life. I will continue

to use my knowledge learned because if I learned something it is that it must always have a

balance in life to stay healthy. In my future plans I will continue doing cardiorespiratory

endurance, like running on trails and doing hills, stretch at least 5 minutes before and 5 minutes

after each exercise, and perform strength train at least 2 to 3 day a week, as well as have a

nutrient diet that supplies all of the essential nutrients required for my body, like vegetables,

fruits, grains, legumes, daily product, chicken, fish, etc. Before taking this class, I was not aware

of all the benefits of exercising, and that everything I eat has an impact on my health, as well as

on the quality on my life and body appearance. Now that fitness and lifelong wellness course is

over, I am more aware that exercising improves my health and reduce the risk of developing

diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer and cardiovascular problems, that is why I will

continue doing my workouts and maintain a healthy diet.

I can see that fitness for life course, dance, practice of meditation and all other fitness and

health courses are in a relationship with improving health and wellness. All the knowledge and

information gain in the course, make me reflect that all, health and fitness dial with habits of

exercise, improving health and quality of life, also acquire behaviors to maintain long term

health benefits. For example, when I was taking the meditation and dance course, I experienced

good mental health and well-being. I achieved all of these sensations that I mention before

through proper exercise, diet, rest, and good attitude, that is the way I feel now with fitness and

lifelong wellness. Taking fitness and lifelong wellness course gave me knowledge that is going

to be helpful to maintain a long life quality, since I learned about wellness a state of optimal

health, to set specific goals and follow them to have a success result, to exercise on physical

fitness like cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body

composition and the importance of nutrition in daily life.
