Mythology and Folklore Detailed Lesson Plan

I. TOPIC: THE QUEST FOR THE GOLDEN FLEECE

TARGET COMPETENCIES

At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:

1. Identify characters and the story and their characteristics.


2. Enumerate the challenges that Jason and the Argonauts encountered.
3. Create a story map about the Quest for the Golden Fleece.

II. LESSON PROPER

A. ACTIVITY: HELP HANK BACK!

Directions: In this activity, the students will have a copy of this worksheet
entitled “Help Hank Back!” and they will be asked to complete the maze in 5
minutes, first to finish gets plus point.

B. ANALYSIS

Before entering to the main lesson, the teacher will ask the following questions to the
students:

 What do you feel while answering the maze? Is it hard?


 What is the implication of this maze in our life?
 How do you find challenges? Do you find it interesting or do you find it hard?

A few students will be asked and the teacher will introduce them to the main
topic, The Quest for the Golden Fleece. The teacher will provide some motivational
thoughts about quests and adventures and will succinctly report the whole story.
(through power point presentation made by the teacher)

C. ABSTRACTION

After telling the story succinctly, the teacher will provide real-life scenarios that
will further deepen the understanding of the students in the story. The students are
free to share their thoughts in the story and this will be a way for educational
discourse and with this, the teacher can easily assess whether they understand the
story or not.

D. APPLICATION

To further assess their understanding, the teacher will divide the class into four
groups and the students will be asked to choose among the challenges met by
Jason and his crew and portray it in a role play. The students will be scored following
this criteria.

25 % Creativity

25 % Teamwork

50 % Relevance

III. CLOSURE

Lastly, the teacher will provide a quotation related to the story and will give its
importance in real life. The students are free to share their thoughts and sentiments
about the story and relate their selves in the characters in the story.

IV. ASSIGNMENT

In this part, the students will be asked to have a further reading about different
stories in Mythology and make a reflection paper based on the readings.
