Our Barrio Fiesta amidst Enhanced

Community Quarantine
By: Edzy Adeline I. Estremos
Our barangay-Nangka held its annual fiesta
celebration amidst enhanced community
quarantine only in each and every home and
family with no mass gathering, special program
presentations and disco. I can still remember our
fiesta before. It was far different from today.
Before I can see sea of people at our quadrangle,
attending the pageant and 'Miss Gay'
competition, but now it was very silent and
purely none sounds of music. Our family fiesta
was very peaceful and quiet. For the first time
fiesta that has no much people to celebrate with.
Yet,it was so calmly. I think it was like a solemn
celebration for this time, we need to repent
ourselves and ask for forgiveness to God. The
world is in pained. Mother earth is in
scarcity. There's so much problems to be solved.
Although our fiesta was timingly fell into this
global health crisis/state of national health
emergency, I am still thankful for God for
everything. We may not have a fiesta with
enjoyable and fun programs and celebrations,
I believe that God has its best reasons, highest
plans and ways for us. We have to put him first
in everything we do. Because of the 2019 novel
corona virus disease, our fiesta celebration in
our home was like a usual and ordinary time like
family eating our lunch together and laughing
together at silly jokes. But I loved it. I enjoyed
our fiesta for it was safe and sound at home
together with my family. In this time,we have to
adhere the enhanced community quarantine
protocols to avoid inconveniences and penalties.
And we are all called to pray and observe
cleanliness in ourselves around the clock. Let's
pray sincerely to God. Together, we can
overcome this obstacle. For with God,all things
are possible. We must keep on going because
life goes on. In this battle,we must pray every
hour of ourlives and every day. And everything
will fall to its places.
