Reflection

Throughout the course of the class I was able to acquire a multitude of skills that have

improved my overall work, school and personal life. Learning new skills and becoming more

familiarized with the tool I use on a day to day basis really help improve my efficiency in

different areas. Three objectives that really made an impact on me were being able to locate,

open and use software applications at an intermediate level, approach computer-based tasks

more easily and able to the function of the computer within different environments. This

class was able to definitely hone the skills I did have and help me learn new ones.

Before this class I was familiar with both the Google and Microsoft tools. I had used Word,

PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Slides and Google Sheets. They had come

across in classes, but I had never really known how to utilize all the little tools all of this

application featured. Throughout the lessons I was able to learn more on how to apply a lot of

the skills to my actual work.

The objective of learning new computer-based tasks more easily and with greater confidence

was one that I felt I achieved. One of the lessons that was most impactful was the Microsoft

Excel Activity in module five. Excel was a very daunting platform for me, there are so many

numbers and formulas involved along with formatting. Everything was very confusing to me,

so I always had trouble creating my own or navigating through one. Being able to have a

walkthrough of the platform and creating one myself through the help of the Screencast was

very helpful. It taught me how to do things as simple as wrapping text within a cell to be able

to read everything written at once to creating formulas that would simplify charts. I was then

able to apply it to my work life and organize things such as the budget and how much we

spend, assigning tasks and so much more. It made the once daunting application more

manageable and easier to use.

This course was also able to help me see the paramount of importance the functions of

computers have in classrooms, organizations and various other environments. We now live in

the digital age where everything is more accessible through the use of computers. Especially

in the school and work setting. Within school the use of the computer and knowledge of

navigating through the various software is necessary for success. For example, in order to

exhibit research or a project in a class through a concise matter the use of PowerPoint and

other displaying software is vital to display the information. In the workplace, the usage of

computers is very important to be able to have smooth communication through the use of

emails. As well as being able to use the Internet and web browsers to do research and acquire

resources for documents was important as discussed in Module three’s Finding and

Evaluating Resources. There are so many different types of applications and software that

simplify and ease work that might be very tedious and time consuming, therefore, creating a

more efficient environment.

The ability to locate and use applications such as: e-mail, Word Processing, Spreadsheet,

PowerPoint and others was another objective that I was able to achieve. Through module four

the PowerPoint Presentation about Social Media I was able to learn about some tips and tools

that I had no idea about to integrate within my own presentation. I was definitely able to have

a clearer understanding on things such as voiceovers and transitions to overall improve the

way I make presentations.

Overall, the course really did help me learn new skills and apply them to various aspects of

my life. It helped me be more organized through the implementation of my skills learned

through the Excel module and use it in my work life. As well as become better at presenting

in classes by applying my new learned skills of voiceovers through the PowerPoint

Presentation module. This course definitely helps me advance my technical skills which I am

grateful for.
