6 Data Storage Information

SD card is small flash memory card designed to provide high-

capacity in small size. Bagmatic NOVO uses SD card capacity of
2GB to store data related to blood donation process.

System is designed in such a way that further work is not allowed

without the SD card. Bagmatic NOVO will signals non-presence of
the card and „Error message“ on the display.

File structure of the data stored on the SD card is shown on

picture:

Collected data (Logxx.dat, Unsent.dat, LogDxx.csv,etc) during

the blood donation process required less than 10KB (kilobytes)
of data (10KB with safety margins).

30 LMB_DOC_S-MANUAL_BAGMATIC-NOVO – Revision status 00 / 09.13 – version 1.0 / September 2013

Service Manual – Bagmatic NOVO

Follow the calculation (real and worst case scenario):

1 donation = 10 minute (with preparation and pause in
meantime)
1 shift = 8 working hours
1 year = circa 250 working days
SD card capacity = 2GB (gigabytes)

Regular work:

1 donation x 10KB (data needed per 1 donation) = 10KB

1 working hour = 6 donations x 10KB = 60KB
1 shift = 8 x 60KB = 480KB (appr. 500KB=0.5MB)
1 working day (1 shift per day) = 0.5MB (data per one day)
250 working days (regular year) x 0.5MB = 125MB (data per
year)

2GB /125MB = 16 years

It means that SD card can store information without the
overwriting for approximately 16 years of the Bagmatic NOVO’s
work!

Worst case scenario:

(24h / 365 days work)

1 donation x 10KB (data needed per 1 donation) = 10KB
1 working hour = 6 donations x 10KB = 60KB
3 shifts (24h) = 24 x 60KB = 1440KB (appr. 1500KB=1.5MB)
1 working day (3 shift per day) = 1.5MB (data per one day)
365 working days (non-stop work) x 1.5MB ≈ 550MB (data per
year)

2GB / 550MB > 3.5 years (more than 3.5 years)

It means that SD card can store information without the
overwriting for approximately 3.5 years of the Bagmatic NOVO’s
„24/7“ type of work!
Nevertheless, device shows the warning message when system
found files older than one year. This is only the safety warning
and can be skipped.

Charge & Discharge

Battery must be charged in appropriate charger only.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.

Disposal
Regulations vary for different countries. Dispose of in
accordance with local regulations.

Nominal Voltage
The battery nominal operating voltage is 14.4V.

Rated Capacity:
The initial capacity is ≥ 2755mAh (based on a CV charge of
16.8V ±50mV with a current limit of 1500mA and a 580mA
discharge to 10.00V @ 25C, within 1 hour of charge).
Initial Impedance
The internal impedance of a fully charged battery shall be <
240mΩ when measured across the positive and negative battery
terminals at 1kHz at 20°C.

Discharge
Discharge Temperature Limits: As shown below, ≤ 80%RH

Charge
Charge Temperature Limits: As Shown below, ≤ 80%RH
The battery shall be capable of continuous charge at 16.8V, as
shown in the graph below.

Storage
Storage Temperature Limits: -20°C to 60°C, ≤ 80%RH
The battery packs should be stored in an environment with low
humidity, free from corrosive gas at a recommended temperature
range <21°C. Extended exposure to temperatures above 45°C
could degrade battery performance and life.

Passive Safety Protection

Overview Of Operation
The battery pack is fitted with additional components to protect it
against abusive charge and discharge conditions. These are in
addition to the electronic protection.

Thermal Fuse
A Thermal Fuse is fitted in series with the charge/ discharge path
to protect the battery from over temperature. This device goes
open circuit if the cell case temperature reaches the fuse's
temperature rating of 93°C (+0°C, -5°C). The fuse is non-re-
settable rendering the battery pack non-functional.

Slow-Blow Current Fuse (Logic Fuse)

A current slow-blow fuse is assembled in series with the battery
pack to protect the battery pack against abusive over current
over-load. The hold current is rated at 12A for 4 hours
(minimum@25C). The fuse is non-re-settable rendering the
battery pack non-functional.
