Annexure I

Offer for Repair of Kiln Tyre Crack

DESCRPTION:
Machine : Sponge Iron Rotary Kiln

Part : Kiln Tyre

Primary Problem :

 Kilns are vulnerable to thermal shocks, thermal cycling, torsion


stress, compressive loading & even fatigue. This is due to their
size, length, operating characteristics & extreme loading they
endure.
 The high fatigue accumulation rate leads to stresses which
eventually turn into cracks. These cracks initially develop under
the surface & propagate through the weaker zone in the original
material such as casting defects.
 Also due to ongoing work hardening & associated strengthening of
the tyre surface, defects or cracks initially form almost invariably
below the surface. These defects or cracks propagate unseen until
the cross-sectional area is large enough to weaken the tyre
sufficiently that they cause a sudden & unforeseen break through
the entire section of the tyre.

EXCELLENT FEATURES OF XUPER NUCLEOTEC 2222 FOR KILN


TYRE CRACK REPAIR

1) No need of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) since tensile


strength & ductility of this product even without PWHT is far
higher than base metal.
2) Tensile strength = 90,000psi
3) Elongation = 45 %
4) Hardness = 170 – 210 BHN
5) Gives highest reliability of repair possible when coupled with
good parent metal interface & skilled execution.
6) The concern of surface hardness degradation is avoided.
7) Even though the cost of this high nickel content electrode is
higher than normal low hydrogen electrode 7018, however the
reliability of repair & downtime savings involved nullifies the
cost.
8) N2222 has coefficient of expansion very similar to that of Kiln
Tyre (low carbon low alloy steel) over a wide temperature range,

hence inducing only mild stresses during welding or themal


cycling.
9) N2222 tolerates upto 50% base metal dilution & still retains its
austenitic structure & will not create a weld deposit prone to
embrittlement, due to martensite formation.
10) N2222 the OEM RECCOMENDATION, operates at minimum
possible amperage due frigid arc coating, leading to less stress
inducement in the weld, less Heat Affected Zone (HAZ), low
power consumption, no electrode overheating giving maximum
yield.

OUR SCOPE OF WORK

o A team of Engineers, Expert technicians, Welders & helpers will be


depoted to carry out the complete repair job at your site.
o Supply of adequate gouging Electrode & welding electrode Xuper
660 NH (root run & buffer layer) & Xuper Nucleotec 2222 (build
up) for complete repairing of job.
o Designing special clamps & fixtures before opening of cracks in
kiln tyre.
o Gouging out crack completely by high technology compressed air
gouging & finishing the surface by flexible grinder & angle grinder.
o Preheating the job to a temperature of 300˚C by using induction
coils.
o Maintaining the interpass temperature about 250˚C throughout
the welding & online monitoring.
o Root run & buffer layer cladding by 3.15 mm Xuper 660 NH
electrode & complete build-up by 4.00 mm Xuper Nucleotec 2222.
o Special welding technique to be adopted with the use of pneumatic
peening hammer, pneumatic needle flux remover, vacuum cleaner,
bridge formation & insitu manual grinding to match the profile.
o The entire job to be carried out under the supervision of our
experienced team, having successfully executed three nos kiln tyre
crack repair in last three years.

YOUR SCOPE OF WORK

1) You shall provide 02 nos of welding rectifier of 600 Amps along


with 02 nos of holders & other accessories.
2) Compressor air connection for carbon arc gouging.
3) Oxygen & da cutting set 01 no.
4) Three phase electrical supply.
5) Scaffolding, temporary shade for protection of welding area,
lighting & ventilation arrangement.
6) Accommodation, (boarding & lodging) of our crew members at
your site.

COMMERCIAL TERMS

THE REPAIR OF KILN TYRE HAS TO BE CARRIED OUT ON TURN KEY


BASIS & TOTAL COST OF RECLAIMATION HAS TO BE CARRIED OUT
BASED ON CONSUMPTION OF WELDING ELECTRODES.
APPROXIMATE QTY OF 35 Kg @ Rs 12,500/- per Kg

PRICE BASIS

Our offer price is exclusive of all taxes, duties and levies, which will
be charged extra to your account at actual as would be applicable at the
time of taking up the job and submission of the bills.

TAXES & DUTIES

Duties & taxes like Service tax (Present rate is @10.3) Work
contract tax/MVAT will be charged extra as applicable at the time of
billing. Statutory variation in the rate of all taxes, duties and levies etc.
or imposition of new taxes, duties, levies etc. beyond the date of this offer
due to Government Notification or enactment or by virtue of different
interpretation by assessing authorities for which we are liable to pay any
taxes, duties, levies etc on this contract, will be to your account.

PAYMENT
10% advance payment along with the order
90% on completion of job satisfactorily

ARBITRATION
Our liability is restricted to weld deposit only. We shall not be
responsible / liable for any other type of damage /loss such as
consequential, proximate or liquidation damages arising out of non-
performance.

FORCE MAJEURE
For the purpose of delivery clause, force majeure condition shall mean
and include any circumstances and occurrences beyond the reasonable
control of the company and/or its sub-suppliers which hinder the
execution of its duties, as for e.g. mobilization, war and war-like
conditions (irrespective of whether war has been declared or not), revolts,
rebellions, sabotage, strike (declared or undeclared), lockouts, other
labour disputes, natural disasters, fire, flood or unforeseeable
circumstances, or epidemics, hindrances and delay in transportation, all
acts of God, State (Central or Provincials, breakdown of essential
machinery and equipment, delay in availability of essential raw
materials, non-availability of wagon/shipping specs. etc. Hence we shall
not be responsible for the any delay in delivery of the finished component
due to reasons above stated which are beyond our control.

VALIDITY
Our offer shall remain valid for 30 days subject to our written
confirmation thereafter.

WORK EXECUTION:
We reserve the right to execute the work through any of our authorized
vendor under our supervision.

same in the TDS certificate to be issued. You are requested to kindly
issue the TDS certificate within one month after deductions from our
