3.6 The student will develop map skills by
using globes and maps to locate and
describe major rivers, mountain ranges,
and other geographic features of
a) Africa;
b) Asia;
c) Europe;
d) North America; and
e) South America.
Students will be conducting a presentation project.
Each student will be assigned a country. Students
will be able to create a power point presentation
using google slides presenting their country. The
first slide will state the name of their country. The
next slide will show a picture of where the country
can be found on a map or a globe. For the next
slides in any order of the student chose. The

understand how different common
materials interact with water. Key

a) some liquids will separate when
mixed with water, but others will
not;
b) some solids will dissolve in water,

Students will be conducting a science experiment.
The science experiment will allow each student to
investigate and understand how different solids
and liquid interact with water. The students will be
split up in groups. The groups will include four
students. Each group will include at least 2 students
that have a device (everyone may not own
devices). Each student will have a job, so one

students will state the major rivers, mountain
ranges, and other geographic features located in
the country. Students will have to search the web
for pictures showing the major rivers, mountain
ranges, and any other geographic features the
country may have. Students will include a map
legend showing the location of major rivers,
mountain ranges, and other features the country
may have. The students can record their voice over
the slides explaining the major rivers, mountain
ranges, and other geographic features. The
students will be able to present the power point in
front of class. When the students present their
presentation and their classmates mates can
directly ask their questions on slides without
interrupting. With this activity students will be able
to explain how to locate their country on a map or
globe, describe the major rivers, mountain ranges,
and other features.

will log into seesaw and there will be an
assignment explaining the materials that will be
used and the procedures to complete the
experiment. Students will be addressed with a
question stating What happens when you add
sugar (solid), cooking oil (liquid), vinegar (liquid),
and baking soda (solid) to water? Student’s will
discuss a hypothesis and in seesaw write, voice
record, or type their response on the template
stating their group hypothesis. Students will begin
conducting the experiment. The recorder can
record the experiment being conducted in seesaw.
While the recorder is recording, the speaker can
explain what is being poured and into the water.
Students will add sugar, oil, vinegar, and baking
soda into individual cups filled with water. The
students will observe what happens when the
liquid or solid items are added to the water. The
students will discuss what they see is happening.
During the experiment the writer will have options
to state the results. The student can record, write
using drawing tools, or type the responses in the
chart on seesaw explaining what the group have
discussed about what they are seeing happen to
the items when being added to the water. While
students are in their group’s teacher will walk
around and make sure students are staying on task
or having any problems.
