The fuel feed pump is a gear-driven pump located on the engine that provides high pressure and sufficient flow to reliably fill all unit injectors. It houses a non-return valve and safety valve to maintain adequate fuel pressure and flow throughout the engine system, ensuring even fuel temperature distribution.

Fuel feed pump, description
The feed pump is of the gear type and is driven from the engine timing gears. The capacity is adapted to provide correct pressure and flow to all unit injectors. A fairly high pressure is required to provide reliable filling of the unit injectors.

A non-return valve is also fitted in the pump housing cover
The flow must be sufficiently great in order to even out any temperature differences of the fuel in the fuel duct in the cylinder head.
