To the pre-dynastic period belong tho large series of palaeolithic
and neolithic flint implements and the early pottery; to the dynastic
1.Jelongs the bulk of the collection-sculpture, 1.Jrom:e, pottery, glazed
ware, fresco-paintings, &c. The Greek, Roman and Coptic periods, are
illustrated by examples of sculpture, pottery, and a fine collection of
embroideries; Mahomedan rule closes with a number of personal orna-
ments, and an interesting selection of trophies, recalling the most
important of recent events in Egypt: the campaign in Upper Egypt
and the Soudan.
