Jesus says goodbye to the disciples

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no
more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let
not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in
me.”

“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for
the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I
have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have
chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should
remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I
go to the Father.

At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came
out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the
world, and go to the Father.”

“I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they
were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all
things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are
thine.

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father,
keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we
are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I
have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be
fulfilled.

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them
from the evil.

As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their
sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have
known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it:
that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he
should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world,
he loved them unto the end.

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from
God, and went to God; He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel,
and girded himself.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know
hereafter. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash
thee not, thou hast no part with me.

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's
feet.

Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews,
Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. A new commandment I give unto you, That
ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men
know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

“And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy
brethren.”
