Preparatory Electricity & Electronics (PEET) 2.

The Preparatory Electricity and Electronics Trainer (PEET) 2.0 is an upgraded version
of the original PEET Trainer, Model 556. PEET 2.0 retains the purpose of being used in
programs that focus on fundamental electricity and electronics skills development. How-
ever, the upgraded system has been modified slightly to include topics and components
relevant in industry today, while eliminating those that are obsolete. This upgraded
trainer also uses Locktronics to present and teach the curriculum.

Locktronics is an easily-configurable system that mimics the layout of a circuit diagram,

simplifying the transition from circuit diagrams to functional circuits. Each electrical
component is mounted to the underside of a carrier that displays the circuit symbol on
the top. These carrier modules have metal clips that connect to
the baseboard – a grid of metal pillars into which the clips
connect to form electrical circuits.
One of the new additions to the trainer is the PICmicro Microcon-
troller. A microcontroller is a small computer on a single inte-
grated circuit consisting of a simple CPU, clock, tim-
ers, I/O ports, and memory. The PIC Microcontroller
is preprogrammed to perform functions that include
logic control with an AND circuit, logic control with
a NAND circuit, energy/current monitor, thermistor
control with a comparator, motor speed control, timer,
and waveform generator. The PIC Microcontroller can
also be programmed using Flowcode 3 in more advanced
applications.
Locktronics Features
• Uses a range of easily-connectable components to teach students the principles of elec-
tricity and electronics.
• Offers more than 200 electrical components that are mounted on the underside of du-
rable plastic carriers printed with the corresponding circuit symbol.
• Visualization of electrical theory in real-world applications enables easy transition from
reading circuit diagrams to building circuits.
• Components easily plug into metal pillars on the baseboard to create working circuits.
• Can be used in a wide variety of subject areas including Science, Electronics, Engineer-
ing, Automotive, and Technology

PEET 2.0 Training System Courseware

The curriculum is organized in three sections, Fundamentals of AC/DC, Basic Electron-
ics, and Motors and Generators. Each section begins with simple exercises that build
in complexity to help students gradually learn each topic. Each section also includes a
student manual and instructor manual.
