VOCABULARY
Blog A web page where someone writes about a particular subject,
their experiences or topics that interest them.
Chat room A place where people can chat by typing to one another on the
internet.
Chip Short for microchip. A tiny wafer of semiconducting material
used to make an integrated circuit.
Code 1 a system of words, figures, or symbols used to represent others,
especially for the purposes of secrecy.
Compact 1 closely set or packed together; dense.
Contemporary Referring to the present time.
Disc jockey A person who plays records on a radio or in a club so that
people can dance.
Hard disk Also hard drive. Computing a rigid non-removable magnetic disk
with a large data storage capacity.
Headset A pair of headphones with a microphone attached to it.
Laptop A portable computer. The screen and keyboard are attached to
each other and it can be carried easily.
Memory Stick A type of small and flat card to store information electronically.
Mention A reference to someone or something.
Microphone 1 an instrument for converting sound waves into electrical energy
variations which may then be amplified, transmitted, or recorded.
Mouse A very small rodent. They are usually grey, brown or white with a
long tail and small ears.
They live in fields and houses. Some people have them as pets.
Online sales The act of giving something to someone in exchange for money
over the Internet.
Restriction A rule or law that limits or controls what people can do.
Separate Different; distinct.
Technical issue A problem or worry that somebody has with their computer.
Technology Referring to modern machines, computers, etc.
Text message 1 an electronic communication sent and received via mobile
phone.
To download To copy data from one computer system to another or to a disk.
To fax To send a document using a machine that sends and receives files
along telephone wires and then prints them.
To fill up To make or become full.
To log in To do the necessary actions to be able to use a computer system.
To log out To do the necessary actions to finish using a computer system.
