A TRUE MUSLIM

“One who loves for the sake of Allah alone and hates for the sake of Allah alone; and whatever
he gives for the sake of Allah alone; and whatever he withholds, withhold for the sake of Allah
alone, indeed, he perfects his Imãn.” (Abu Dã’wood).

A true Muslim is God-fearing. He fears none but Almighty Allah. The fear of God guides him and
helps him stay away from evils and empowers him to resist satanic temptations. He holds the
commandments of his Lord most dear to him and obediently fulfils them with great pleasure. He
adheres to the five pillars of Islam.(Shahadah, Salat, Zakat. Fasting, Pilgrimage; Haj )

A true Muslim loves Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him), the last prophet of Islam, more
than his own dear life, for he believes that his faith remains incomplete unless he loves his
prophet above all else. Having unshakable belief in the Holy Quran revealed on the prophet of
Islam. Verily, the Almighty Allah has sent a Book for the guidance. It is a Book which clearly
defines, describes and distinguishes between right and wrong, vice and virtue, and truth and
falsehood. He also has firm belief in the saying of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). He
never doubts in the veracity of Hadiths (the sayings of the prophet). The pleasure of Allah and his
Apostle Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is his ultimate goal.

A true Muslim is he from whose hands and tongue every other Muslim is safe. A true Muslim
takes every care not to neglect the rights of people. The rights of people are equally important for
him. He tries his best not to hurt anyone and do full justice with everyone who comes into his
contact. He is polite, courteous, kind, generous, forgiving and honest in his attitude towards the
people he meets in his day-to-day life. Once he promises, he never breaks it or back out of it. He
takes utmost care to fulfill all his commitments with people. A true Muslim is indeed a man of
words.

Islam connotes Peace. It is indeed a religion of peace. Its true followers are all peace-loving
people. A true Muslims hates violence and extremism.

A heart of a good and true Muslim is free from hatred, bias, prejudice, rancor, grudge and ill-will.
He loves all irrespective of his caste, color, creed or religion. He is not narrow-minded. He wants
love and peace to rule supreme in the entire world. He believes in equality, brotherhood, unity
and love for all. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) said, “Allah will not show compassion to him who has
no compassion toward people.” (Muslim And Bukhari)

Moderation and modesty in his actions and his clothing is also an aspect that makes a Muslim
stand out. He Shares his material wealth with those who are needy. He does not drink alcohol..
He is not a hypocrite. He gives full measures. He makes haste to face the problems of social
justice, peace and security.

In conclusion, cleanliness of mind and body, a good intention, charitable acts, contentment and
total submission to his maker are some of the characteristics of a true Muslim character. He
always seeks salvation from His God. The worldly failures or success is immaterial for him. He
aims at ultimate success- to win the pleasure of Allah and his apostle to be successful Herein and
the Hereafter.
