One page describing the background and reasons why they have the prayer
session.
The church I visited for this assessment was a Catholic church which is Our
Lady Of Lourdes, Klang (3.037327°N 101.444405°E). This church was built on 1928.
The monument still stands strong in the heart of Klang and the current priest
positioned there is Rev. Fr. Frederick Joseph. The prayer which I attended is called
Holy Hour which was about reciting a rosary for Mother Mary. Mother Mary is the
mother to Jesus Christ, the Son of God as referred by the Christians. This rosary is
recited in order to get their prayers and wishes to come true. It also helps the
Catholics to depend their faith and as a tool to encounter the journey after death. It is
also believed that the reciting of rosary is done is actually to persuade Mother Mary to
talk to Jesus behalf of them to grant their prayers and wishes. And there are a lot of
stories telling the power of this rosary and it’s written all around the church. There
was a recent miracle in Subang Jaya Hospital, where it was believed that Mother
Mary appeared in one of the glass panels. It really shook and caught the world’s
attention where people from all over the world came down to Malaysia to check this
out. In fact, the glass panels still do have the picture of Mother Mary and it’s placed in
the Church of Our Lady, Klang.
There are certain ways we need to do before starting to recite a rosary, such as
clearing the minds and thoughts, have a silent and conducive environment, and no
media distractions such as television, mobile phones, laptops, etc. The rosary has 52
beads together. On the first bead, the prayer Our Father is recited. Then the following
10 beads are recited with prayer to Mother Mary. ‘Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord
is with you, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb
Jesus’ are the words recited by the leader and the followers will reply, ‘Holy Mary
Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and the hour of our death, Amen. These are
recited repeatedly on the then beads and then the final bead is ended with a prayer
which sounds, ‘Glory be to the Father and Son and Holy Spirit. As was in the
beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without and end, Amen’ The prayer took
almost 30 minutes and all where kneeling during the prayer. At every decade of
rosary, the psalm of Mother Mary Is sung and then continued with the second decade.
The environment during the prayers was so silent and Holy filling sensation. I also
asked several people around there about the importance of this prayers in their life and
mostly answered that how important is food in life so does the prayers. It might not
help now but definitely will do when we external eternal life as stated in the Holy
Bible.

2. One page describing your own experience, feelings, and thoughts of being in the
session.
The environment of that church was gave me an amazing sensation. In my
opinion, prayers that they done was precious moments that available for
communication with god. I get to know each and every procedure of their holy hour
praying very well.
This is what happened once I stepped in to the church. I went into church by
thinking I had just sneak in and listen to the sermon. When I got in there, a guy asked
me to fill out a postcard about how I found the church, write down my address, etc.
He also gave me a pen and a mug filled with candy. He got another lady to come over
and talk to me. I told her that I just came to observe their prayer session for my
assignment.
For me the Holy Hour is not a devotion, it is a sharing in the work of
redemption. The Blessed Lord used the words "hour" and "day" in two totally
different connotations in the Gospel of John. "Day" belongs to God; the "hour"
belongs to evil. Sevedxs3sd3n times in the Gospel of John, the word "hour" is used,
and in each instance it refers to the demonic, and to the moments when Christ is no
longer in the Father's Hands, but in the hands of men. In the Garden, our Lord
contrasted two "hours" one was the evil hour "this is your hour" with which Judas
could turn out the lights of the world. Thus, this is what I experience of being in the
session.
3. Take a photo of yourself with someone at the worship place preferably the priest
or monk or imam etc at that worship place.
