Dear Ms. Dupuis and the Stanley Elementary School Administration,

Throughout my time studying music education, I have constantly focused on engagement,

inclusion, acceptance, and love in the music classroom. I am writing to you today because I
would be excited to share those aspects of music to your students at Stanley Elementary School.

As an educator, my goal is to show students that I care about them, their ideas, and their learning
at all times in my classroom. Students in elementary school have valuable questions and growing
minds, and it is an incredible opportunity to be able to teach them at that age. In addition to this,
I feel that music is ever-evolving. Therefore, I believe that curriculum in the classroom should
evolve ​with​ the students instead of staying stagnant as the world around it advances. While still
keeping in touch with our standards of learning, there are so many ways to make a music
classroom engaging, inclusive, and exciting for students, and I would love to be able to bring
those ideas to your school!

In the last four years, I have had the opportunity to teach age groups ranging from 4 to 70 years
old. However, through those experiences, I have fallen in love with teaching the younger
students. I have experienced practicum in elementary schools, taken an elementary methods
course, facilitated family-centered JMUke events in the community, taught Violin at JMU’s
Young Children’s Program, and even had the opportunity to student teach in elementary school
this semester. Unfortunately, my ‘in-person’ time in that school was cut short due to
state-mandated closings. From day one though, I taught in every class, and immediately knew
that elementary general music is where I belong. I know that I have genuine fun and a real
passion for teaching music to elementary schoolers, and I would be more than honored to be able
to bring that passion to your students.

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider me for this position at Stanley Elementary
School. I am excited to potentially get to know and make music with your students. I hope to
