CASE STUDY(ENT600)

9.0 Summary

C1

Based on the journal stated, we have come to a decision which is agree to the needed of copyright
in the industry of music. The copyright in music industry have been a sensitive issue thus there
have been so many court cases regarding for the plagiarism issues. Popular songs are valuable to
own because of all the royalties they collect. For example, whenever the song is played on a
streaming service, downloaded from iTunes, or covered on YouTube (a mechanical license),
played over radio or in a grocery store (a performance license), played as soundtrack over a movie
or TV show (a sync license) and for other uses.

C2

Based on the journal stated, we have come to a decision which is agree to the needed of copyright
in the industry of music. The copyright issues have been potrayed as the negative issues.
However, from the perspective of creativity for an artist to produce new fresh song using sampling
techniques should be address. The less strict copyright lead to more uses of sampling and mix of
fresh idea to produce new songs. Instead of pointing out this sampling work as plagiarism issues,
the work could be fell under the “right of quotation” rules rather than be considered as derivative
works. The freedom of creative and uses of sampling should be allow in rightful way to lead to
further development and enrichment of human culture.

C3

Based on the journal stated, we have come to a decision which is agree to the needed of copyright
in the industry of music. Copyright can never be "acceptable" for music essentially on the grounds
that copyright is just a lawful instrument. The sole fact that copyright protects musical works does
not mean that copyright is good for music. There is no historical evidence that the mere existence
of copyright has promoted the creation of artistically satisfactory musical works. Copyright has an
unbiased relationship with music whenever applied in an obliging way. If copyright becomes the
cause of the creation of music to produce business assets and to generate income, the quality of
the music invariably suffers. Media outlets "produces" copyright works revenue driven
augmentation independent of their melodic worth, and overwhelmingly looks for assurance and
overprotection of their current copyrights.

C4

Based on the journal stated, we have come to a decision which is agree to the needed of copyright
in the industry of music. The copy was clearly an inadequate substitute for originals even though it
cost less and most economist thus rejected the case for copyright law as a necessary protection
against unauthorized copy. Piracy and downloading of music from internet effects of unauthorized
copying from the music industry’s own high profile, which in turn reduce royalty earnings of
composers and performers. To survive in digital era music, industry must look to market-based
incentives for creations publication in increasing strength of copyright protection.

C5

Based on the journal stated, we have come to a decision which is agree to the needed of copyright
in the industry of music. There may not be a sudden wholesale reinvention of the music industry
but there is a changing tide. Like all things, changes take time, for better or for worse. Companies
like Kobalt that pushes the artists to the top rather than pulling them back is what the future of this
industry should aim for and should be. With the introduction of online music platforms, public
access to music has never been easier. However, these platforms do introduce some problems
that does need to be address. Whilst there are still issues within the worldwide copyright
legislation, particularly in my view with regard to greater recognition of artists’ moral rights, there is
reason to hope that the music is changing.

C6

Based on the journal stated, we have come to a decision which is agree to the needed of copyright
in the industry of music. Copyrights issues can be claimed legally if ones(creator) had register their
work. The creators have the rights of the copyright owner. The owner can license the work, which
means giving someone certain rights to use their music without giving them the actual ownership
of the copyrights. Sampling occurs when a portion of a prior recording is incorporated into a new
recording.
