Final Class Reflection

At the beginning of this second semester I started hating two classes and this was one of those

two, but when I started going to my Asian studies class, I started to feel interested, because the

class was not only about Asians, it was also about other Minorities that were not related to the

name of the class, which seemed a bit strange to me, because in my mind I already had that idea

that it would only be about Asian studies but I was pleasantly surprised.

Asian studies became my favorite class, in our class topics were touched on that for many who

were not in that class would be boring, but it made me learn much more than I already knew, it

was the way in which the teacher I explained the concepts of the class, which attracted you a lot

and made you want to continue listening more, there were many times when I feel that I failed,

that I could have improved to have been able to get an A in this class, it was having asked

questions to my teacher on a topic that I did not understand, or ask my classmates because there

were days when I felt lost and without knowing what to do, I could have made more concrete

and complete analyzes of the debates I did, if I had the opportunity to return to take it, take it
again, I learned to be able to think outside the bubble, by this I mean not only thinking about the

problems that my minority suffers (Latinos) but rather what else there is and knowing that the

other minorities suffer just like mine and some suffer more than others, it made me think

critically and despite all the bad things made me accept my race and where I come from and

know that discrimination, racism, prejudice, retrograde thoughts, will always be part of me

environment, I learned that there is also discrimination and hatred among the same minorities,

and that we only support each other in moments when we all "unite" for the same cause, and

after that we are again the same selfish people.

I learned a lot in this class concepts that I never thought I was going to learn and some did not

know that they existed, this class opens your mind and how maybe others would think that it

"brainwashes you" because I have told you my friends about this class and they think that the

only thing it does is to put me against the white race, which is not true, but it does make you

have many points of view and not be left with only one, that the only critic in your arguments is

yourself.
