Station Blackout

1. Ensure emergency DG set came in to service, if not came in auto start manually.
2. Ensure emergency CW pumps came in to service , if not came in auto start manually.
3. Ensure emergency instrument air compressor came in to service, if not came in auto start
manually.
4. Ensure turbine lube oil pump, LOP came in to service (AC or DC pumps)
5. Both LP bypass close
6. Emergency cooling water to all spies valve (CW01&04) will open and normal CW valves
(CW02&CW03) will close.
7. Ensure that the diesel driven Emergency Boiler Feed water Pump started in auto (Pump start in
auto logic if Combustor bottom temperature >450.0 deg.C & both BFPs off with time delay of 5
second )
8. If EBFP not came in auto start manual mode
9. Ensure that availability of feed water flow to boiler and spray water for SH,RH and HP bypass
steam temperature controls
10. Open the HP bypass valve (Boiler depressurizing rate 8 to 10 bar/hr)
11. Open the RH vent & control RH pressure
12. Open MS line and strainer drain valves
13. Emergency DM makeup pump will switch on in order to maintain deaerator tank level
14. Close Drum emergency drain valves, Close CBD valves & isolation valves to conserve water
15. Boiler feed water supply may be stopped when combustor bottom temperature of < 450°C
16. CRH and HRH drains to atm flash tank to be opened and drains to HPFT closed(if condenser
vacuum low)
17. If condenser vacuum low open the vacuum breaker

Estimated feed Water flow requirements

Initially a minimum Boiler Feed Water rate of about 15 % of the full-load rate will be required, with
the specified depressurization gradient.
Duration of feed water supply
Boiler Feed Water supply has to be continued for about 6 hours.

Emergency cooling water supply lines

1. EBFP system
2. All seven spies valves

Emergency DM water supply lines

1. Deaerator
2. Emergency Instrument air system cooling

In case difficulties starting of EBFP

1. In case it is not possible to start EBFP lead to a severe damage of the combustor evaporator
tubes due to over heating so therefore all efforts have to made get the EBFP as soon as
possible.
2. In case EBFP not starts, the damage of boiler may be limited by reducing the boiler pressure
with a gradiant of about 1 bar/minute and the water level in the drum is no longer indicated
or visible .
