The 2nd annual spring Mid America Premier is loaded with a wide variety
of high quality consignments and will provide an opportunity for the whole indus-
try to dip in and pick out a choice lot to build their herd. The emphasis is more
and more on width and large clean open frames and we as an auction company
wish to be there for you if you have this type of deer and choose us as the
means to sell them. Our wish is for the buyers and the sellers to be well sat-
isfied after the conclusion of the auction. To ensure this, we encourage all the
consignors to be present and to offer their lots in the best manner possible. We
also urge all potential buyers to do their homework before hand so they realize
the potential that is available and then to bid accordingly in a timely manner.
J&S Auctions will be putting in a lot of effort to ensure a professional auction
in a timely manner.

We started with our first 2 doe fawns in 1996. We were excited to have them and still

CWD 11/02 TBAccred Bruc Cert ning for the future. My wife Ruth and our family have pitched in and have helped
tremendously. This year we were pleased with what the bucks were doing on our farm with
Geyser, a Raindance son, exploding at 3 years old with a score of 343”. He is 23” on the inside
with over 14” G-2’s. We sold him in the fall after breeding with him to Russ Bellar, the owner with
Eddie Ray Burkholder of X-Factor. The new buck on the block is Showboat, a yearling son of
Maxbo Supreme and Janie, that we purchased from Danny and Vonda Yoder. He is over 20 1/2”
on the inside and has the carriage of an aristocrat. We have a lot of confidence in him for the
future.

In 1998, we started with 5 does and every year since we have been trying to improve
Frey’s Trophy Whitetails our deer’s genetics. This year, it has paid off. We have raised two 300” deer and another 295”.
Whitetail deer have always been my passion, first as a deer hunter and now as a breeder. In
Enos & Mary Frey 2008 my dad and I split our herd, now he has Moose (295”) and a lot of good genetics from the
16430 Old State Road Patrick line. The last 2 years we have AI’d aggressively with many of the industry’s top sires and
Middlefield, OH 44062 have been excited about the possible out comes of these breedings. Our children have been a
(440) 548-5559 tremendous help since we bottle raise most of our doe fawns and they always get attached to

We would like to thank everyone who has bought deer from us in the past and look
forward to doing business with you in the future.

We started raising deer in 1999 by bottle feeding doe fawns for Griffiths Brothers. It has been very excit-

Here at Barren’s Edge Whitetails our goal is to produce bucks with wide frames, long tines and the overall look that

We are a little farm hidden in the back country roads of northern Indiana. The little
River Bend Whitetail Oasis Elkhart River flows and bends gracefully through the wooded area at the back of our property,
hence forth the name. A father/son operation that began in August 2007 when we purchased
Larry & Jonathan Yoder our first deer. It has been an exciting ride! A learning experience with many ups and downs,
0655 S. 1075 W. but the dream is as alive as ever. Dad (Larry) enjoys the hands on work with the deer, building
Middlebury, IN 46540 fences, and visiting with other deer farmers. Son (Jonathan) is sharp with the pedigrees and
(574) 825-0815 ext. 3 bloodlines, studing the books 24/7 (unless its hunting season). This year while hunting with a
CWD 2002 TBAccred Bruc Cert muzzle loader he snagged the “monster” buck he’s been watching for 3 years. He scored 165”, a

Pine Creek Deer Farm which is located in northern Indiana, is the result of the dreams of
a 12 year old boy. I had no trophies in mind back then. I just knew I loved Whitetailes. I started rais-

sold him as a button buck because we moved from Indiana to Mayslick, KY in 2004. Kentucky
borders were closed so we had to move some of our deer to Ohio and sold the rest. In 2009, we
bought MC Ranger from Levi Weaver. The borders opened in March 2010, thanks to NADeFA’s

Dad and I thought it would be fun to raise deer so we started in the early 2000’s. I was
Hunter’s Creek Deer Farm 22 when we started. We had an one acre pen and a few does. Our first year fawning was a good
year, we did not lose a single fawn. We thought it was so easy to raise deer! That year at the Top
Chris Raber 30 we talked to several other deer farmers and got even more excited about raising deer. We
1696 150th Street then went out and bought a few more does with good genetics.
Hazelton, IA 50641 When we heard of the Iowa Banquet in Cedar Rapids, we were ready to go. There we
(319) 215-0508 met deer farmers like Fred Hubner, Chad and Sheila Machart, and others. We wanted a good
CWD 08/01 TBAccred Bruc Cert genetics buck to breed our does, and we heard that Chad and Sheila Machart had some really
nice bucks, so we wanted to take a look at them. This one buck caught our eye.
His sire was Avalanche and the dam was a Big Jake daughter. He was a yearling and
even though he looked really good, we didn’t buy him right then.
We went back the next year to see him again. He looked good! A few weeks later he
looked even better! I thought they wanted too much for him, but a week later I called Chad and
asked if he would consider selling half the buck to me. He said he needed to think about it, so
I called him back 2 days later and he said he would be happy to sell half the buck to me! There
were some very happy people!
My wife, Anna and I have 4 daughters: LeAnne (9), Marilyn (7), Lu Etta (6), and Mariam

(614) 342-2946 added 4 of Scott’s does. We AI’d these 23 plus 43 more at Teague Ranch.
CWD 10/02 TBAccred Bruc Cert In 2008, we purchased several more does. We AI’d 25 does here and 78 more at the
Teague Ranch. In 2009, we AI’d over 150 does.
Gene’s Place had no deer in April 2007, but by July 2009 we had over 100. Between
the Teague Ranch and Gene’s Place we now have genetics from most, but not all of the bigger
bucks in the country.

3 little boys ages 1,3, and 7. The two oldest boys also like to help. We had 16 fawns this year and

14811 Notestine Road In the year of 1992, my nephews, LaVern and Raymond Graber and I would go to
Grabill, IN 46741 Woods & Waters Exotic Sales and bought birds, Ostrich, Rhea, and Emus. We had birds until
(260) 410-3493 1995 then decided to buy some deer. We bought 4 does and 1 buck fawn from Kenny Clark. We
CWD 2002 TBAccred Bruc Cert went to a sale at Whitehouse and bought 4 straws of Thunder semen (Eddie Ray Burkholder).
We then went to Roy D. Yoder’s farm for AI lessons and in 2000 we AI’d 4 does with success. That
is where Thunder Hy Lite comes in. We then continued to improve our herd with better genet-
ics. In 2001, we made a farm pond on the back of our 80 acre farm.
In 2006, we divided our does (the does were all at LaVern’s) and brought our does
home. (We still help each other though)
When I am not at deer sales or doing something with deer I like to spend my time
fishing and working back by the pond.

2011 Mid-America Invitational Whitetail Deer Auction
In the mid 1980s Dave & Rick Griffith purchased their grandfather’s farm from his estate. With a burning desire to
Griffith Brothers bring the old farm to life their idea to raise whitetail deer began. They formed Griffith Brothers Whitetail Ridge Trophy Deer Ranch.
Although the whitetail deer industry was in its infancy Rick and Dave st ill made genetics their main focus. After traveling the
Rick & Dave Griffith country for a year looking at deer herds they purchased their first breeding stock. The breeder bucks came from northern
10066 Griffith Street Pennsylvania out of a herd started by Bill Dyroff. Bill, a computer science teacher, impressed the Griffith Brothers with great herd
Huntingdon, PA 16652 records and a reputation for raising championship sled dogs. Bill’s herd was almost 10 years developed; thus the three original
(814) 643-7181 breed sires were purchased from the Dyroff farm.
CWD 02/02 TBAccred Bruc Cert
The first buck was StudIy, PA Geronimo’s father, a main frame 6x6 purchased for his tine length and typical frame. The
second buck was Chief purchased for his great width and frame. The third buck was Goliath 1 purchased for his tremendous mass.
At the same time Penn State University had produced a huge typical buck known as J-44. J-44 was ahead of his time with an
impressive set of typical antlers scoring just over 200”. That was a very big deer for the 1980s. The herdsman at the time was Bob
Mothersbaugh. Bob has since retired from Penn State and is now a master breeder in the whitetail industry. Dave & Rick were very
impressed with Bob’s record keeping and knowledge of his herd at Penn State; thus several does were purchased from the J-44
line. Some of those does included ROM Goliath’s mother, Marlin’s mother, along with two full J-44 sisters K-l and 150 to name a
few. After a few years of breeding a special buck hit the ground by the name of “Geronimo”. Dave and Rick had no idea how special
this buck they had named Geronimo was going to be. Today Griffith Brothers are one of the proven leaders in the whitetail deer
industry and PA Geronimo is one of the most inheritable and popular breed sires in the country.

BB Genetics
Ben Waldbeser
We’ve got what the industry is talking about...Large framed typical deer plus one of
our other goals...healthy whitetail deer. They both go hand in hand at BB Genetics.
We are located in Northern Indiana. We began raising whitetail deer in 2000, starting
12383 N. 250 E. out with one buck and 6 does we had bought from local Indiana deer farmers.
Milford, IN 46542 Each year there was and still is new challenges we face when it comes to raising and
(574) 658-4885 treating our deer. Since I had been a hog farmer for 40 years, I knew the importance of vaccinat-
CWD 02/01 TBAccred Bruc Cert ing livestock to produce the healthiest animals that I could, so that was a plus for our farm and
carried over to our deer.
In the first year we got with our local vet and came up with a vaccination
program for our herd. Our fawns are vaccinated and tagged within the first 12 hours of birth.
We also vaccinate our whole herd each year with the same vaccinations. We have also been vac-
cinating our whole herd with the EHD Type 1 & 2 & Blue Tongue17 ever since Indiana acquired
Missouri’s vaccine.
Let’s say BB Genetics does not skimp on the cost of producing healthy deer. That
goes for the feed we mix ourselves also. They get the best of the best in nutrition and care that
anyone could give them.
We want those deer farmers who buy deer from us to have big bodied, healthy deer
when they leave our farm.

Deb Skevington keep improving our bucks so that we are able to supply the hunting preserves and other deer
12383 N. 250 E. farmers with deer that will produce what almost any hunter would want . . . a big framed buck.
Milford, IN 46542 In order to help other deer farmers, at BB Genetics, when we sell a doe you are guaranteed to
(574) 658-4885 have what we have, because if there are twins or triplets, we keep one for ourselves. Sometimes
we have had to make tough decisions on whether to sell some of the does that we have, but we
CWD 02/01 TBAccred Bruc Cert
can’t keep them all. So we are proud to be able to supply other deer farmers with some amaz-
ing deer.
We have used our own line of pedigrees since day one with an occasional dose of an-
other line of pedigree to see if it would change things up a little, like more tines or width, etc. I
won’t sugarcoat this but sometimes it worked and sometimes it put us behind. It’s all a learning
curve. I will say that we had great results crossing our does with Thunder and Thunderstorm.
They produced BB Thunder Cloud, BB Hail Storm, BB Sleet Storm, just to name a few, that we
used as breeder bucks.

This yearling has alot of typical bloodlines in her on top and bottom. By matching her up with BB Curly
you are bound to get huge framed deer. BB Curly scored 300”+ @2 as a 7x10, 25” wide. BB Curly’s buck

nice typical bucks with nice frames, and long tines. Look at the picture of bucks that have came out of these bloodlines:
BB Sleet Storm, BB Hail Storm (Thunderstrom/Thunder), BB HD, BB Snaps, BB Socks. Now take this doe, R-SS2 matched
Sleet Storm BB Widowmaker up to BB Widowmaker a 3 year old Chopper son who is a 5x5, 25” wide, scoring 260”. What will you get? Big frame,
mass, long tines, long brows. What more could you ask for!!!

2011 Mid-America Invitational Whitetail Deer Auction
We started raising deer in 1998. The boys and I started talking about raising deer for
Frey’s Trophy Whitetails about five years before we really got into it. Then Enos got cancer and started going through
treatments and we thought that raising deer would be a way to encourage him. We went and
Henry Frey bought 5 does, a few off of Dan Kuhns, and a few off of Ben Coblentz to get us started. Then
15769 Madison Road we went and bought 5 does from Dan Weaver, and more off of Dream Mountain, a big hunting
Middlefield, OH 44062 preserve in West Virginia. Dream Mountain raises a lot of 200”+ animals for their preserve. We
(440) 632-0433 bought 3 daughters out of Dream Mountain’s Moose, scoring 245” @ 7. At 7 years old Dream
CWD 10/02 TBAccred Bruc Cert Mountain’s Moose was put on the preserve and shot. We bought 2 daughters out of a son of
Dream Mountain’s Moose that we called 190 does because he was a nice big typical. At 5 years
old the Moose son did not get any better so they put him on the preserve and shot him. I talked
them into selling me 2 J-44 daughters, he was about 230” non typical and 205” typical. Before
I had bought my does off of Dream Mountain, they had never sold any animals to anyone else
because they were only raising them for their preserve.
The reason I decided to cross the Dream Mountain’s Moose daughter’s with Omrey
was because Moose had a lot of mass and Omrey had a lot of width. We then put JPB on top of
that daughter and that’s how we ended up with FTW Moose.
The way he is bred I think he will really produce. He has mass with width and then put
JPB on top and he has all the splits. I think he will pass on his genetics.

Joe Schmucker
Here at Schmucker’s Whitetails there is always something going
on. Between our herb business and whitetails, seems like we never quite
19610 110th Street get caught up. This past fall was extra busy with building our new han-
Powersville, MO 64672 dling system and also with TB testing. Seems like our hard work is paying
(660) 592-2522 off as this past summer was a good antler year for us. We sold 16 bucks,
CWD 5 Yrs. TBAccred Bruc Cert 13 of the 16 averaged 218”, the best we ever had. This is not counting the
breeder bucks. Chancin is starting to show us what he can do for us. As we
had our best group of 1 year olds in 2010. We look forward to 2011 grow-
ing season as we will have plenty of bucks to watch grow, 35 one year

Buck Creek Whitetails got started 8 years ago when dad (Joe Stutzman) bought 3 bred
does from his brother-in-law, Glen Lambright. After 2 years of helping with his deer and going
7550 E. 200 S. to auctions, my interest grew to the point where I bought 2 bred does of my own. I had good
Lagrange, IN 46761 luck that first year with 4 live fawns, I was hooked. After that I bought some good quality doe
(260) 585-4029 fawns with high hopes for that dream buck.
CWD 5 Yrs. TBAccred Bruc Cert
I am now looking forward for spring with several of my younger does having their first
sons growing out. It didn’t take long for us to realize deer multiply fast which keeps it interest-
ing and challenging. We are live breeding 20 + adult does on the farm this year. We feel it is
important to breed with deer that look like we want their offspring to look like. We are using
several new breeders this year, check them out on my ad. We are located approximately 12
miles southeast of Shipshewana, IN. Feel free to stop in if you get in the area, or if you have any
questions leave a message at 260-585-4029 Good luck to all!

Mary and I started raising deer in 1994. We started with 4 does from
Ervin Hostetler and 5 does from Roy Yoder. The first year we rented a buck from
1000 US 62 Roy Yoder, and the second year one from Ervin. The third year we were able to
Dundee, OH 44624 purchase a buck from Ervin. A couple of years later as our herd grew, we went to
(330) 231-0319 Eddie Ray’s and bought a son of Thunder who we called Flash. We then added a
CWD 4/06 TBAccred Bruc Cert
handling facility and built an observation towers. The towers sure made it easier
when the need to dart one deer comes up. In 2004 we bought a buck from Ernest
Tracey we named Big Gamble because of the money we spent. That was the last
breeder buck we bought because about then AI became popular and now we do
all AI’ing using our own bucks as cover bucks.
Mary and I both enjoy the deer business as there is no dull time. In the
spring is big bellied does and horns growing, summer babies arriving and horn
growing, fall brings fawn weaning, velvet shedding, then its doe breeding, later
horns dropping and then we start all over again.

Whispering Pines started out in 1996. I planned on buying possibly only two does and a young
Whispering Pines buck, but I ended up purchasing five does and a yearling buck. This buck was off the same farm as Robert
Schmucker’s Bucky and Eddie Ray’s Thunder. They were all out of the same line of deer. I named the young
Howard M. Miller buck Chief. He was not too bad for fourteen years ago, he was rather clean and scored possibly 190”. Real-
24239 County Road 54 izing that this was probably not going to be good enough, I went and bought a good young buck called
Humpy from Eddie Ray which had its antlers damaged. I then bred the last does to him and also a couple of
Nappanee, IN 46550 does to Chief. Humpy was heavy beamed with seven points on his good side and the other side was dam-
(574) 773-5090 ext. 6 aged, but he produced good and he did well. Humpy was out of a Pepsi II buck and Eddie Ray’s Patrick 112.
CWD 04/02 TBAccred Bruc Cert From this first set of fawns I had a yearling that I called JR. I felt that he was going to be good. At thesame
time Robert Schmucker’s Salt Lick Deer Farm had a buck that I liked that he called Dane. Dane was 3 years
old and JR was 2 years old when we traded them, with JR going to Salt Lick Deer Farm and Dane who was
nice and wide coming to Whispering Pines.

CWD 5 years TBAccred Bruc Cert Ward Whitetail Farm was established in 2004. We have been deer lovers for years and have also
been breeding and raising livestock for many years primarily in the beef cattle arena. Artificial
insemination (AI) in cattle is something we are very familiar with. Maximizing the ability to
use the best genetics in the world to improve our herd is a resource we can carry over into the
whitetail deer breeding arena particularly with laproscopic artificial insemination. We have pur-

Dave Reed Hi, we are the Reed family from Turkey Hill Whitetails. We started
203 Turkeyhill Road deer farming as a hobby in 2002 with just a few deer. In 2005, I got deer fever
Olanta, PA 16863 and started to purchase great doe genetics from across the United States for
(814) 592-4351 our AI program. Some sires used included Waldvogel’s Rocket, GD Romeo,

Lakota, Outcross, GB Magic, Ultra Max, Matrix, Marty Graw, Full House, Max
DT, Thunder Max, Maxbo Extreme, Grizzly, Timberjack, Rocky Roller, Highway

our yearlings have doubled in score! My children and I bottle feed 90% of our
does. Our entire doe herd is DNA tested and very calm, just like the family
pets. We also have a regular vaccination and worming program on our farm.

Eagle Creek Whitetail Deer Farm started in 2003, located in Wingate, PA by Steve and Lisa Stem, with a one acre pen containing 6
doe and SS Patriot was the start of our adventure. Little did we know or realize what a journey this would turn into. A family hobby quickly turned
Eagle Creek Whitetail Deer Farm into a family business that involved sons, daughters, nephews, brothers, son-in-law and many curious friends.
Steve Stem It has been a super experience from the start to present, now we have grown to eight deer pens, a handling facility and up to
100+deer. Our genetics from those 6 doe that we started with has evolved into a competitive line up of breeding doe and fawns plus dozens of

CWD 5 years TBAccred Bruc Cert our motto is, “Success isn’t for everyone only for those who are motivated to achieve it..” We have narrowed our approach to this business to
developing a successful genetic line by AI’ing the best to the best and being reliable, fair and honest business men.
We are excited for the 2011 fawning season. Our AI line up is awesome. Our buck fawns and yearlings have super genetic crosses
that should make antler growing a daily watch that will be thrilling for all to see. In anticipation for our growing heard we are now expanding to a
2nd location.
We are proud members of NaDeFA and PDFA. I am and elected member of the Pennsylvania Deer Farmers Board of Directors. I
serve on the Policy committee and the PAC fund committee.
In closing this exciting and diverse business has allowed us to travel meeting small and large farmers, I have had the pleasure of

In the spring of 2002 I bought my first deer and I bought one bred doe from Pin Oak
Farms with the intention of just doing it as a hobby. I thought if I could make enough off of it to
cover my feed I would be doing fine. Several years later I got into it a bit more and then the year
1726 CR 1575 E after I got a bit deeper into it yet. Ever since that we have been breeding for the big typical. As
Sullivan, IL 61951 nice and big of a typical as you can get. Most of what we have been breeding for is the big typi-
(217) 543-4011 cal, not so much breeding for the score as for the look. The score comes second to us behind
CWD 5 years TBAccred Bruc Cert the look of a nice big typical, nice looking deer.
One of the best programs that I have seen, one that I really like, is Fred Huebner’s. We
have been breeding with some of his stuff and intend on breeding some more with it in the
future.
Watch for our future consignments. We have Amos offspring here , Auggie offspring, as well as
Thunderstorm and Lonestar. That’s the direction that we are wanting to go and the look that we
like to see on our bucks.
We bred with Maxbo Arty, we like his mother. His mother is what attracted us the most, Amos
breeding his womb sister is Artys mom. Then put Maxbo on top of that and I feel that is putting
the best with the best. I feel Arty is the most balanced Maxbo son scoring over 300 that there
is.
