SCHOOL PROFILE

The Department of Education (DepEd) issued the Guidelines on the

Organizational Structures and Staffing Patterns of Stand-alone and Integrated

Public Senior High Schools (SHS) or DEPED Order No. 19, Series of 2016. It

aims to provide comprehensive guidelines, standards, and procedures that clearly

define the organizational structures and staffing patterns of different types of public

senior high schools, as well as clarify the roles and functions of their teaching and

non-teaching staff.

The organizational structures, staffing patterns, and procedures set therein

shall be used as a guide by the DepEd central and field offices/units as well as

external stakeholders to ensure that the governance and management of public

senior high schools are in accordance with DepEd quality standards, and ultimately

lead to the enhanced delivery of basic education.

Buting Senior High

School is a recently established

Senior High School in 2016 through

the initiative of the Former City

Mayor Maria Belen Andaya-

Eusebio. It is the biggest stand-

alone senior high school in Pasig City. The school has 1,942 students and 92

teaching and non-teaching staff.

Senior High School (SHS) – completes

the third stage of compulsory basic

education. It consists of two (2) years

(Grades 11 and 12) of high school

education following the completion of

four (4) years of Junior High School (JHS). It shall serve as a specialized higher-

level secondary education, consisting of different tracks, strands and

specializations that learners may choose from depending on their aptitude and

interests, and school capacity.

Stand-alone SHS – is a school situated in a new site separate from a JHS or

Integrated School (IS) and has its own School Head.

Track – refers to the specific program in SHS a learner may choose based on

his/her interests and aspirations. SHS has four tracks, namely: Academic,

Technical Vocational Livelihood, Arts and Design and Sports. A track is

further sub-classified into strands.

Strand – refers to the specialized curricular offerings under a particular track.

SHS Subject Group – related SHS subjects grouped according to needed

teacher specialization, training, and preparation such that all subjects in any

track/strand offered by a school can be taught by qualified teachers.

Buting Senior High School offers Academic - Humanities and Social Sciences

(HUMMS), Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Accountancy

Business Management (ABM) and General Academic Track (GAS) and

The Biggest Education Technology

Trends for 2019
Every year, it seems like more and more media outlets are ready to announce the

end of the traditional classroom — that desks and chalkboards will soon be discarded to

make way for flipped classes, digital workspaces and social learning. The truth is, the

best educational technology doesn’t replace the traditional classroom, but enhances it.

Through the latest educational innovations, teachers and students now have better
access to quality resources and effective learning methods than ever before. Here are

five technology trends set to further enhance the educational landscape in 2019.

Technology Trend #1: Coding

2019’s students are next

decade’s workforce, and more of

those students than ever will be

working within the software industry.

Whether it’s maintaining website

servers or designing the next

smartphone operating system,

coding is a hard skill that employers desire. Programmers and computer literate

employees are often needed to fill skills gaps within corporate teams. For this reason,

coding classes are becoming increasingly popular, with a variety of technologies on

offer to aid learning. The Grasshopper app, developed by Google employees, allows

anyone to begin coding from their phone, no matter their prior knowledge. Coding

lessons also have advantages beyond simple resume building, with students

developing serious IT, math, logic and reasoning skills along the way.

Technology Trend #2: Seamless Resource Access

Long gone are the days when students raced each other to the library with lists of

required reading materials. Now, infinite copies of the best resources are available
through online journals and publishers, with students able to close a page on their iPads

during class, open the same page from their smartphones on the bus, and continue

reading from their laptop at home. Many big tech brands have their own cloud services,

complete with

apps designed specifically to produce a seamless filing system. These include Apple

iCloud, Google Drive and Amazon Kindle. This makes mobile learning an underutilized

opportunity to improve eLearning programs effectiveness.

Technology Trend #3:

Remote Learning

Whilst the idea of

interactive learning beyond the

classroom is not new,

developing technology means

that 2019 is the year were

remote learning may really take

off. With the advent of 5G

networks in North America

throughout 2019 and 2020, the online classroom will become a high-definition reality.

Remote learning is useful in many everyday educational scenarios, from webinars to

training sessions for employees in multiple locations. Lambda Solutions offers a variety

of live and recorded webinars as an easy way of sharing their years of industry
knowledge, as well as resources on how to get remote and mobile learning initiatives off

the ground. Another major benefit of high-speed remote learning is the ability it gives

schools to connect with rurally located children, providing a valuable solution to the issue

of staffing struggles within remote communities.

Technology Trend #4:

Gamification

Whether it’s child’s favourite

video game Fornite, or grown up

gamified apps such

as Headspace, games are

becoming more and more

embedded into everyday life. This is especially true for 2019’s educational environments.

While you may have fond memories from your own school days of playing Oregon

Trail or Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on a stone age desktop,

the gamification of education has since become far more sophisticated. Examples of

today’s educational games include the Nintendo Labo, a combination of cardboard

construction pieces and digital controllers, allowing kids to experiment and build

something that is “fun to play with, but also teaches engineering principles.”

Technology Trend #5:

Personalized LMS

By 2019, most educators

have adopted learning management

systems into their teaching strategy

in some form or another, for the

simple reason that they make

teaching and

learning more efficient, organized and helpful. Student progress and assignments can be

easily assessed and tracked, and having an online base for your class means that other

helpful technologies, such as seamless resource access, can be integrated. Lambda

offers bespoke LMS packages to suit the specific needs of any educational organization.

Issues of Information Technology at Buting Senior High School:

1. Do BSHS have computer facilities that can accommodate students on each

section? How many computers are there in each room?

2. Is there internet connectivity available to the school?

3. Is there IT expert/IT staff that can address problems of teachers and students

in terms of computer maintenance, software and hardware update/upgrade?

4. Can BSHS cater trainings and seminars for teachers and students?
SWOT ANALYSIS

 BSHS Computer facilities have 33 to 35 computers in each

laboratory. There are four (4) computer laboratories located at 6 th

floor of BSHS building. The ratio of the computer per student is 1:1

per class/section.

 Department of Education donated PC Tablets and Computers, 100

pcs in total which.

 BSHS has the fastest internet connection which is a server client

Strengths
type among all schools in the Division of Pasig City. Trainings and

seminars from the Division Office are being held at BSHS.

 BSHS offers Computer System Servicing (CSS)/NCII.

 Continuous trainings and seminars from the providers for

maintenance of equipment from DepEd.

 Teachers are trained with the different instructional portals which

they can use in their classroom teaching.

 BSHS Library is now using Kolibri off line resource package.

 There is no IT expert/IT staff that can address the problems in

terms of software/hardware upgrade/update and other equipment

maintenance, thus ICT teachers are the ones accommodating the

teachers from the different department.

Weaknesse
s

 ICT Teachers are not allowed to fix computers donated by the local

government. They must send a written request and wait for the

approval from the LGU and an IT Staff to accommodate them.

 Computer laboratories are well taking care of by the ICT teachers

that is why the school is always chosen to grant new equipment.

 BSHS ICT Department can offer to its strand new courses like

animation and web development.

 BSHS can offer TESTDA/Training center

Opportunit
y
 Teachers must always upgrade knowledge and skills since BSHS

is always chosen to have new opportunities.

 Students who have advance knowledge sometimes take advantage

in using the internet

 Out of four computer laboratories only two rooms are

airconditioned, that is why some of the computers had problems in
