Geographical Information of IGOROT:

Igorot is any various indigenous groups in the Philippines. They reside in Northern
provinces in the Philippines in the Cordillera region. The term Igorot means
Mountaineer; it’s because that they are mostly be located in high pine forests and some
of them can be seen in foot hills in tropical forests

The terms Igorot’s and Cordilleras are used to collectively refer to a number of tribal
groups including

 Bontok - They live in Chico River in the Province of Central Mountain of the
region. They are also known for their practiced in head hunting and their
distinctive tattoos in their body. They have been living in their tradition fishing,
farming and hunting. In their tradition in hunting, they used dogs to hunt wild pigs
and even wild buffalo trapped in pits. And they also used traps and nets for
fishing and they also divert the streams. And for farming, they used dams to
maintain irrigation system in their land.
 Ibaloi - They live mostly in the southern part of Benguet, located in
the Cordillera of Northern Luzon, and Nueva Vizcaya in the Cagayan
Valley region. They are known for their practiced in mummification. They are
known for their traditional rice farming in terraced fields.
 Ifugao, - They live in high peek region of North-Central Luzon in the area
Banaue. They are also known as feared headhunters. They are also known for
their traditional rice and taro farming in terraced fields.
 Apayao/Isneg, - They live at the north-west at the end of Northern Luzon, in the
upper half of the Cordillera province of Apayao. They are known for their
resourceful skills. They can find and make food around their area such as in
lakes, rivers, and streams. They also catch fishes and other animals.
 Kalinga, - They settle in the middle of Chico River in Kalinga Province. They are
known about the practice of wet and dry rice farming. They are also known for
the tradition that men only do the hunting. By using traps, spears or even rifles
for wild pigs.
 Kankana-eys. – They can be found in the Western Mountain province, Northern
Benguet and Southeastern Ilocos Sur. Their sources of food are the rice field
that they cultivated. They are also known for some of the best vegetable grower
in the Philippines. They also use spears and dogs for their hunting.
