EDUCATION GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
BRAWIJAYA UNIVERSITY

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
article 1

In this Education Guide what is meant by:


1. Semester is a unit of time consisting of 16 (sixteen) weeks lecture or other scheduled
activities, including accompaniment activities, including 2 (two) up to 3 (three) weeks
of assessment activities.
2. Short semester is a semester for certain students who the operation is shortened by
referring to the stipulated provisions by the dean.
3. Semester Credit System is an education implementation system with use semester
credit units (credits) to state student study loads, lecturer workload, learning
experience and program implementation burden.
4. The semester credit unit (credits) is a measure of appreciation for activities learning is
equivalent to 160 (one hundred and sixty) minutes of learning activities per week per
semester.
5. Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) is a curriculum that is compiled based on on
the elements of competence that can deliver students to achieve core competencies,
supporting competencies, and other competencies as a method of inquiry (a learning
method that fosters great desire to want to know) is expected.
6. Competence is a set of smart actions, full of responsibility someone as a condition to
be considered capable by the people in carrying out tasks in certain areas of work.
7. Graduates 'competency standards are qualifications of graduates' abilities which
include
attitude, knowledge and skills.
8. The Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) is a core framework for
competency qualifications that can match, equalize, and integrating education and job
training as well as work experience in the framework of providing work competence
recognition in accordance with employment structure in various sectors.
9. Qualification is the mastery of learning outcomes that state their position in KKNI.
10. Credit score is the value that states the amount of effort to complete the task- the tasks
in the lecture program, seminar, practicum / studio, practical work as well as other
tasks.
11. Lecture is a face-to-face activity carried out between lecturers and students in a
manner
scheduled in class or elsewhere specified.
12. Structured tasks are learning activities in the form of material deepening for students,
designed by lecturers to achieve competence and time task completion is determined
by the lecturer.
13. Independent (unstructured) tasks are learning activities in the form of deepening
material for students, designed by lecturers to achieve competence. Time assignment
completion is determined by students.
14. Seminar is a scientific meeting related to the courses held by students under the
guidance of the lecturer concerned.
15. Studio practicum / activity is a structured academic activity carried out in the
laboratory / studio or other places specified.

16. Real-Practice Work Lecture (KKN-P) is a structured academic activity that is
conducted in companies, projects and / or agencies approved by the Head of
Department / Study program.
17. Course assignments are structured academic activities carried out by
students with the guidance of lecturers / assistants and is one of the components
assessment / evaluation.
18. Quiz and / or Mid Semester Exam (UTS) is an evaluation activity carried out
during the lecture takes place in the semester concerned.
19. Final Semester Examination (UAS) is an evaluation activity carried out at the end
semester.
20. Achievement Index (IP) is a number that shows student achievement from
courses taken in one semester are calculated by the number of
the multiplication of credits for each course is multiplied by the weighted scores
divided with the number of credits taken.
21. Cumulative Achievement Index (GPA) is a number that shows achievement students
from all courses taken are counted by the number of the multiplication of credits for
each course is multiplied by the weighted scores divided by with the number of
credits taken
22. Final Examination is a test that can be in the form of a Thesis Examination or
Comprehensiveness and Thesis Examination.
23. Final Masters Test is a Thesis Examination
24. Doctoral Final Examination is a Closed Examination and / Open Examination.
25. Study Plan Cards (KRS) are notes about academic program plans student in one
semester.
26. Study Result Card (KHS) is a record of student academic achievement published at
the end of each semester.
27. The Year Over Program (PAT) is a matriculation program organized by master study
programs and doctoral study programs within FT UB new students.
28. University is Brawijaya University.
29. Faculty is the Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University.
30. The Chancellor is the Chancellor of Brawijaya University.
31. The Dean is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University.
32. Head of Department / Study Program is the Head of Department / Study Program in
the environment
33. Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University.

FOREWORD
By giving thanks to God, who is only with His permission, then the Book Educational
Guidelines for Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas
Brawijaya Year 2014 / 2015- 2017/2018, can be reprinted for students academic 2014/2015. 

The Mechanical Engineering Education Guidebooks are evaluated and updated every four
years to be used as a basis and reference for all academic activities and other related activities
in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya.

Educational Guidelines for Mechanical Engineering Department Academic Year 2015 /


2016- 2017/2018 already refers to a curriculum based on the KKNI (National Qualification
Framework - Indonesia). 

The systematics in this Guideline is broadly composed on:

1. VISION and MISSION

In 2020, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas


Brawijaya as center for education, research and community service in the field of mechanical
engineering that has advantages and benefits for local, national, Asian communities
Southeast and Asia supported by human resources, infrastructure and facilities adequate and
supported by a conducive academic atmosphere.

MISSION
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering department is to prepare graduates who meet
them
Profession needs through:

1. Held organized education and administration that is effective, efficient, accountable


and sustainable.
2. Implementation of education and teaching that guarantees the quality of graduates and
relevant to the needs of Mechanical Engineering graduates at the local level, national,
