JOB SATISFACTION

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION:

Job satisfaction is the favorableness or un-favorableness with which the


employee views his work. It expresses the amount of agreement between one’s
expectation of the job and the rewards that the job provides. Job satisfaction is a part
of life satisfaction.

Job satisfaction thus is the result of various attitudes possessed by an


employee. In a narrow sense, these attitudes are related to the job under condition
with such specific factors such as wages, supervisors of employment, conditions of
work, social relation on the job, prompt settlement of grievances and fair treatment by
employer.

INDUSTRY PROFILE:

In modern competitive environment, the survival of organizations has become


more complicated. To avoid risk and earn greater profits, firms take the help of
management consultants to get a better guidance to operate their business. Such
consultancy services are rendered by expert advisors in different fields. It is estimated
that the consultancy business in India engages 100,000 persons in about 5000
consulting firms. According to estimates current size of the consulting industry in
India is about 10,000 crores including exports.

specializing in end-to-end man power solutions. IVenture’s commitment is to

clientele through various services like permanent staffing, contract staffing and
credibility check. We are experienced in large range of industry disciplines including

NEED OF THE STUDY:

Human resources are most important resources in any industry or


organizations. Machines and gadgets which are integral parts of organization require
the human touch, expertise, and commitment for their full utility and application in
development of Organization.

A satisfied human resource is valuable and has no alternative. Human beings’


needs are dynamic and therefore to satisfy those the organization has to be
dynamically thinking. So that every organization wants the improvement in the
development of its human resources in order to achieve an objective of getting higher
production and income. Identifying level of job satisfaction is the most important
managerial activity for improving performance of employees for higher production
and for getting more profits.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

• To know the impact of demographics on various factors affecting Job


satisfaction.
• To know the perception of employees relating to various aspects like Working
conditions, Pay & promotional potential, Work relationships, Use of skills and
abilities, Work activities for betterment of Organization.
• To give suggestions for enhancing the job satisfaction in group of companies
at SEZ, Tada.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY:

Every effort has been made to make the study complete and as extensive as
possible. How ever the study is not free from certain limitations.

 Due to time constraint, the sample size has been restricted to limited
samples.
 It is confined to only lower level employees.
 Since the contact method adopted for the study is personal interview
the information collected may be biased.
 Researcher is very new to research field. So, it has its own limitations.

Primary Data : Collected from the employees.

Secondary Data : Collected from various Articles, Text books and


Websites.

Sample Size : 100

Sampling Technique : Convenience sampling

Sampling Area : Contract employees working in group of companies at


SEZ, Tada.

Data Analysis Tools : Simple percentage method and Two-way anova.

FINDINGS:

 Majority of respondents are around 25 years of age.


 Majority of respondents are of qualification is S.S.C.
 51% of respondents are not satisfied regarding their hours worked each week.
 71% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Amount of paid vacation/sick
leave offered.
 49% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Benefits like Health & Life
insurances etc.,
 56% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Job security.
JOB SATISFACTION

 55% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Recognition for work


accomplished.
 58% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Opportunity to utilize skills and
talents.
 60% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Opportunity to learn new skills.
 61% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Support for additional training
and education.
 68% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Variety of job responsibilities.
 63% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Degree of independence
associated with work roles.
 70% of respondents are not satisfied regarding Adequate opportunity for
periodic changes in duties.
 There is no impact of Age & Gender on various factors determining job
satisfaction.
 There is a impact of Age and Qualification on General working conditions
except Location of work, Amount of paid vacation time/sick leave offered, on
Pay and promotional potential except Benefits (Health, Life insurances etc.,),
Job Security, Recognition for work accomplished, on Work relationships, on
Use of skills and abilities, on Work activities except Adequate opportunity for
periodic changes in duties.
 There is a impact of Gender and qualification on General Working conditions
except Amount of paid vacation time/sick leave offered, on Pay and
promotional potential except Benefits (Health, Life insurances etc.,),
Recognition for work accomplished, on Work relationships, on Use of skills
and abilities, on Work Activities except Variety of job responsibilities and
Adequate opportunity for periodic changes in duties.

SUGGESTIONS:

 Companies may have look into implementing the policies relating to sick
leaves strictly.
 Companies may have look into providing extra benefits like life & health
insurances with relation to risk.
JOB SATISFACTION

 Companies may have look into continuing their employee recognition based
on the work they accomplish and may even look into recognizing the better
employees based on their worth for future assignments by giving them training
facilities.
 Companies may have look into shifting employees from one area of their work
to other by adopting job rotating techniques which will provide enhanced job
satisfaction to the employees.

CONCLUSION:

It is here by concluded that the demographics like age and gender have
no impact, where as age and qualification and gender and qualification have
substantiate impact on various factors affecting job satisfaction. Perception of
employees on various aspects has been found and employees are suggested for the
better performance: there by job satisfaction is attained. The overall job satisfaction
felt by contract employees are average in the concerned organizations.
