Shipping groups contain source and/or destination addresses that include inventory movement and
carrier defaults.
Process Steps:
Document Format Maintenance lets create formats for shipping related documents.
A form code is assigned to a document identifying its processing and printing requirements, including
additional services such as printing data not in the original document, or checking if Document is
complete and ready to print.
Process Steps:
Use Number Range Maintenance to create sequences and define sequence parameters for generating
new numbers used to identify specific types of documents. Number range management (NRM) is
currently implemented in the following functions:
Sequence numbers can have multiple parts, called segments. Each segment has its own set of
characteristics and behavior. Segments can be added or dropped during sequence definition, but once a
sequence has been used to generate or validate sequence numbers, you can no longer change its
structure.
- An incrementing integer segment defines a range of values, with a lower bound, an upper bound,
initial, and reset value; for example, integer 9999. Each sequence must have one and only one
incrementing integer segment.
- Date-driven segments display a value that depends on the transaction effective date or the fiscal
period that corresponds to the effective date. The effective date is derived from the transaction where
the sequence is used. The format is a compound string that permits optional display of date components
(year, month, week, day), including delimiters between components; for example, 06:15:97. Each
sequence can have one date-driven segment or none, but not more than one.
- A fixed-value segment can consist of any printable character except a comma (,). For example, IN can
be a fixed value segment assigned to an invoice document.
