A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10556

ENTITLED: AN ACT DECLARING EVERY 27TH DAY OF NOVEMBER AS “ARAW NG
PAGBASA”, A REGULAR WORKING HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF NUEVA ECIJA
THROUGH A PROVINCIAL CELEBRATION OF THE AFOREMENTIONED
DECLARATION.

“Presented for consideration of the Body is Committee Report No. of the Committee on Education,
chaired by the Honorable Jo-Mario Angelo E. Matias, relative to the activities mandated by Republic Act
No. 10556 entitled: An Act Declaring every 27th Day of November as “Araw ng Pagbasa”, A Regular
Working Holiday.

WHEREAS, one of the salient features of this law is to recognize and supports endeavors that promote
reading and literacy, motivate awareness and uphold our Filipino heritage and culture, including
educational activities focusing on the life of Great Filipinos, whose role in our country’s history was
influenced by great writings of different individuals.

The law likewise recognizes the importance of promoting reading as a shared activity among the youth,
families, educators and the private sector, thereby emphasizing personal interaction and facilitating the
exchange of ideas throughout the country;

WHEREAS, the Department of Education through Memorandum No. 181, s. 2017, underscore the
following aims:

a. Support the DepEd Ten-Pointe Agenda 2017-2022 entitled Quality, Accessible, Relevant
and Liberating Basic Education for All; and
b. Strengthen the DepEd’s Every Child A Reader Program, making every Filipino child a
competent reader and writer appropriate for his/her grade level.

WHEREAS, in view of the foregoing, it is deemed proper that this August Body support the
implementation of Republic Act No. 10556 and the conduct of the Provincial Celebration of “Araw ng
Pagbasa”;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of the Honorable Jo-Mario Angelo E. Matias, Chairperson of the
Committee on Education, which was duly seconded;

RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, to support the implementation of Republic Act No. 10556 entitled:
An Act Declaring every 27 th Day of November as “Araw ng Pagbasa”, A Regular Working Holiday and
the conduct of the Provincial Celebration of “Araw ng Pagbasa”;

RESOLVED FURTHER, to furnish copies of this Resolution, the Schools Division Superintendents of
the respective Schools Division Office of the Department of Education in the Province of Nueva Ecija,
the Local Chief Executives of the Province of Nueva Ecija, the Members of the Local School Boards in
the Province of Nueva Ecija, Honorable Jo-Mario Angelo E. Matias, Chairperson of the Committee on
Education and the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Nueva Ecija.
