TUTORIAL: RC BEAM DESIGN

A rectangular beam is 250 mm wide by 500 mm effective depth.The beam is simply supported
and spans 8 m. The dead load including an allowance for self weight is 20 kN/m and the
imposed load is 10 kN/m. The materials to be used are grade 25 concrete and grade 460
reinforcement. Design the bending and shear reinforcement . Check for deflection.
