Lent is a Catholic season of spiritual preparation done before Easter. In many Catholic

churches, it begins on Ash Wednesday. During Lent season, almost all of the Catholics

observes repentance, fasting, and spiritual discipline. But as of today, Philippines launches

coronavirus quarantine measures which resulted that all of the Catholic Church has been

discouraged to hold huge religious activities that will attract crowds. But here, inside our

village, there is a Monastery where only limited people can visit and attend the spiritual

activities during the Holy week, and luckily, we we’re one of them. By that, the Diocese of

Calbayog held a parade where the priest is standing in a car to celebrate the Palm Sunday.

All of the catholic people here inside our village including us are waiting and standing

outside our houses and waiting for the priests to bless their palaspas or palm fonds. Next

was the celebration of Holy Thursday, as I’ve mentioned we were invited to attend the mass

in the monastery near our village. At first It was new to me because there are only 15 people

inside the chapel but we still attended the mass. Below are some of the pictures where we

can see the procession of the blessed sacrament. Next is the celebration of Good Friday. As

you can see in the pictures, inside the monastery including my mom and some of the people

we executed the way of the cross and attended the mass that has a long reading which is

the passion of Christ and lastly where the priest did a little procession going to the altar, and

slowly took the cloth that is covering Jesus. Now lastly, the Celebration of Easter Sunday. We

didn’t have the chance to attend the mass because during Sunday our village are restricted
to go outside. But despite of the restrictions we still managed to attend the mass by

watching Livestream and shortly after that we had a little celebration during lunch and

thanked God that he is risen. Overall, even though that we face this kind of pandemic, I can

say that almost all of the Catholic Filipinos still managed to observe and recite all the Lent

season activities and has a strong faith.
