PROBLEM SOLVING

1. There was an upgrade in technology used to produce canned foods in Abdi’s manufacturing
company. The management decided to implement the technology in a week for installation of
the new machineries in the company’s factory as they consider what innovation is needed to
improve in global agriculture, nutrition, and health. The company’s factory will know the
proficiency of the machine that will produce the canned food if they are notable to decide in
early adopter of technology. So that, if the installation of the new machineries give the benefit
to the company for the production, the sales of the company will increase. In other words, if
the production of canned food make the huge loss of company’s business, it is better to stop
the upgrading the technology.

2. The issues aroused in Poyo’s company are because the employees have to do multiple tasks.
This case is under control activities which is separation of duties where no single employee
should have too much responsibility. Multitasking is a necessity in small business, and can
sound like an efficient cost saver. But if it is not managed correctly, it can have a negative
impact on employee. The better solution is Padeli should let the employee focus when it
matters at times. This is because they may need to stop multitasking and focus on key tasks
when deadlines are looming. They will complete tasks in better time if they are left alone with
minimal distractions. Other than that, Padeli also can hire more employees to improve better
quality of work.

3. Bina Roboh Enterprise was facing a huge loss on its business because some projects were
delayed and abandoned that lead to cost overruns. This problem is under classification of
preventive in internal control. The responsible person had designed to stop problems before
they arise. They should not focus on many projects as they will lose focus on current project.
The project was delayed because of poor material handling and installation methods. In return,
the project manager has to take the right action to handle the issue aroused. Other than that,
the project became delayed because the employee does not following the project schedule. So
if they overcome the problem by followed the schedule and done the project by time, they can
save money from loss and can gain profit from that.
4. The issue arise in Pedro’s Fisheries new ponds because of sabotage from competitors and
also can be insiders too. This issue is under classification of corrective in internal control. It is
because Pedro wants to fix the problem and modify the system to keep problem from
happening again. The better solution to Pedro’s problem is conduct employee background check
before hire the employee. This way can reveal criminal records, suspicious references and lies
on resume. Due to this resolution, Pedro can prevent sabotage from insiders. While for the
sabotage from competitors, Pedro needs to send untrained watch dog to get more training so
that the dog can help to handle invader. Lastly, Pedro also can hire security guard to watch the
ponds. This action can make the invader afraid to do any sabotage to his pond.

5. Coldman Enterprise, an outdoor equipment supplier was facing inadequate worker in the
store. This happened due to many employee applied for leave. It is because the company does
not have an organized system for employee to apply leave. The better solution for this case is
employee must notify their supervisor for the leave to ensure appropriate tracking of leave.
They have to fill in a form and give it to the Human Resource clerk, a week before the preferred
date. Therefore, Human Resource clerk needs to record all the requests on employees’ leave.

6. The element that is important when designing a transfer document is the agreement
between the grantor which the party giving up the ownership and the grantee which the party
acquiring the ownership. The agreement can be in form of contract. With the existence of the
contract, the parties can prevent any problems such as fraud or misunderstanding. The contract
must be confidential to avoid any issues arise.

7. The issue for Karim as a sales clerk is he over work from his real duties. It is because he
done the preparing, packing, approved picking ticket and also prepared a purchase requisitions
by himself. The possibility if the work done by a single person is it so easy to commit  fraud and
falsifying the transaction record. Because of that, the company should do the separation of
duties where no single employee should have too much responsibility under control activity. So,
far less likely than if one person is responsible for all aspects of the transaction since at least
two people must work together to do so.
8. For the case of Laporpo Auto, the executives does not come to the production department to
look for the employees performance. This issue is under monitoring performance which is
effective supervision. If there is no executive to monitor the employee, they must have low
quality of work. Therefore, the executives need to evaluate and motivate employee to get
outstanding performance of employee.

9. A human resources clerk does not have authority to approve annual leave form. Human
resources policies and procedures under control environment are hiring, evaluating,
compensating, and promoting employees. Human resources clerks should be responsible only
for the provision of annual leave reports to enable Deans, Directors and equivalent to monitor
and manage annual leave within their areas of responsibility. The approval of the annual leave
is the responsibility of the Department Chairperson, Director or Dean. The Human Department
is responsible for securing the approval of the President for Human Resources. The form must
be submitted to the Human Resources Department at least two days before the starting date of
the leaves of less than one week.

10. A department manager does not have authority to handle machineries and authorized the
written off of any obsolete machinery. Department manager is responsible to enforce quality
customer and implement business strategies to increase skills. The operation manager is the
one that has the authority to handle machineries and authorized the written off of any obsolete
machinery. Operation manager is responsible to overseeing inventory, distribution of goods and
facility layout.
