I am writing this letter of recommendation for ​Mrs. Rachel Christian​ who is seeking a teaching position with your 
district. I have had the opportunity to work closely with Rachel as her direct supervisor the last two years in my 
role as principal at Watertown High School. It is from this experience that I have been able to witness Rachel’s 
many strengths and talents as an educator.   
 
Rachel serves in the capacity of art teacher at Watertown High School, teaching Art Foundations, Ceramics, Glass 
& Jewelry, Sculpture, and Yearbook. Rachel is pedagogically sound in her delivery of the art curriculum. She has 
the knowledge and skill set necessary to effectively meet the needs of all students. Rachel establishes clearly 
identified learning goals for each lesson, creates and facilitates lessons that address a variety of learning styles, 
and effectively utilizes formative assessment in two very important ways - providing meaningful feedback to 
students about their progress towards stated learning goals and assessing the effectiveness of her own 
instruction. The nature of her classes allows Rachel to develop and facilitate lessons that are highly engaging and 
motivating for students. In addition, providing student choice with projects allows students to choose an option 
that best matches their interest.  
 
Another impressive attribute of Rachel’s, is her ability to foster meaningful relationships with all students. Mrs. 
Christian treats each student as a unique individual and develops positive relationships with all. This is beneficial 
in her classes when working with a diverse student population. 
 
Rachel works well with faculty as well. She works collaboratively with her three department colleagues in revising 
curriculum and developing common activities and assessments. Her willingness to take risks and try new 
activities demonstrates a commitment to improving her teaching and the learning experience for her students. 
 
I am happy to recommend Rachel for a position for which she is qualified. Rachel is a consummate team player,
