The Latest Spotify Campaign is a Collaboration Between Designers

Spotify campaigns have always been marked with a touch of


professional creativity and the music platform's 2019 marketing
initative which spotlights its Premium membership tier is no
exception.

To truly make a visual impression on its consumers, the brand taps a


number of creatives for a total of 11 videos and 25 illustrations. The
designers who were asked to work on the latest Spotify campaign
include London-based Cabeza Patata Studio who gave art direction,
Spanish animator Croa San, 3D and motion artist Laura Sirvent
Collado, and 3D animator Daniela Avilés.

The Spotify campaign was to work in all of the platform's 72 markets.


Therefore, the creatives worked toward producing an "easily-
identifiable, modern, gender-neutral character with no specific age or
race." In a sense, universal.

the release of the Huawei P30 Pro. The partnership comes after Leo
Natsume was recognized during a design competition put on by the
firm.

The graphic sticker pack has been given the name of 'Kings Of The
Weekend' and it concentrates on putting forth a whimsical attitude
that will get people excited for Huawei's product. When creating the
2D and 3D designs, Leo Natsume focused on inclusivity and diversity.
Moreover, he made the characters be "energetic, elegant with
attitude," but also accessible so that users can feel free to express
themselves through the graphic sticker pack when they are chatting.

Eternal Musical Desert Installations

The Sound Installation 'Toto Forever' Debuted in the Desert

German-Namibian artist Max Siedentopf recently debuted the 'Toto


Forever' sound installation in an undisclosed location in the Namib
Desert. The installation features six speakers connected to an MP3
Player set to play one song -- Toto's 'Africa.' The speakers use solar-
powered batteries to ensure they can play "for eternity."

The inspiration for this unique sound installation came from the age
and location of the Nimb Desert, located on the west coast of
Southern Africa. The desert is over 55 million years old, and
Siedentropf stated: "Hopefully the song will play just as long." The
song itself was released in 1982 and has since sold over 4 million
copies, but still remains relevant in pop culture today, having been
featured in 'Aquaman' and covered by rock band Weezer.

Siedentropf hasn't revealed the exact location of 'Toto Forever' but


noted it's "like a treasure that only the most loyal of Toto fans can
find."

POC-Centric Exhibits
The Get Up, Stand Up Now Exhibit in London Boasts an Identity by Here Design

Get Up, Stand Up Now is an exhibition at the Somerset House in


London and it is running until September 2019. The theme of the
event is curated to place focus on the creativity of the black British
community, spotlighting 50 years of activity. The show is curated by
artist, filmmaker, and photographer Zak Ové.

Here Design was tasked with facilitating an identity for Get Up, Stand
Up Now and the studio undertook a cohesive and vibrant approach.
The firm sought out to represent the ethos of the exhibition through a
singular image, inspired by "the profile silhouette of exhibiting artist
Zoe Bedeaux." To spotlight the excitement and creativity, generated
from the show, Here Design also undertook a color-rich approach to
branding. Moreover, Here Makes — the firm's in-house creative
studio, developed branded products that are to be sold in the
exhibition shop.

AI Technology Startup Megvii Uses Nose Prints to Find Dogs

Megvii, the Chinese based AI technology startup, is able to use AI to


track dogs. The company has a new program that can recognize dogs
using their nose prints. The company indicates it is able to recognize
dogs if they are scanned using a phone camera.

The app asks users to photograph their dog's nose form a number of
different angles, from there the app will be able to recognize the dog.
Megvii has indicated it has a 95% accuracy rate, and it has used its app
to bring 15,000 dogs back to their owners.

The AI technology startup says the technology can be implemented for


other purposes. Megvii says its app can be used to monitor dog
owners and find those who do not pick up after their pets.

Self-Driving Car Consolidation

Apple Has Purchased the Autonomous Driving Startup Drive.ai

The Autonomous driving startup, Drive.a,i was recently purchased by


the tech giant, Apple. The startup was created in 2015 by the
University of Stanford researchers, working on machine learning.
Since 2015 the company had been running an autonomous ride-
hailing system, located in Texas.

The company has been an industry leader in autonomous driving,


implementing a deep learning system to recognize objects. Last year
the company conducted successful fixed-route tests without human
passengers on public roads.

The autonomous driving startup had a sizeable inventory, consisting of


Nissan NV200s that were retrofitted for self-driving. The cars also had
LED screens on the hood, above the front tires, and on the back. The
screens would show messages to nearby people stating the car's
intentions.

It is unclear at this moment what Apple will do with the company.

Google suggests asking questions like: "What is fun about computer
programming?" or "Would you advise young people to pursue a
career as a musician?" In response, users will receive results from
books in the same way that they would ordinarily receive search
results on Google.

High School eSports Leagues
The PlayVS Startup Wants to Use eSports as an Educational Tool

Nearly 200 colleges and universities across the US and Canada are
already actively recruiting for eSports scholarships, but the PlayVS
startup is hoping to start the competition at the high school level. The
Los Angeles-based venture-backed organization has already partnered
with the NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations)
and is aiming to bring eSports to the 14.5 million high schoolers in the
national league. This partnership with NFHS would allow the PlayVS
start-up to easily scale its technology and publisher relations within
the high school athletic league and leverage its network to spread the
first high school eSports league.

While a few high school eSports leagues have spread throughout


North America, PlayVS has a distinct advantage, aside from its
connection to NFHS. The start-up's relation with game publishers
would allow the company to plug games at an API level and could
easily allow for coordination with publishers to have games
